Worst rumour I've heard in a while, dunno why the papers are even running this  - http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/107435...the-new-Ronaldo

I guess that's what happens when you get 80m, the papers run wild with headlines...

This holds more cred though, Silva is a good player - http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html

I saw Torres one in NOTW as well :p It's not even worth commenting on.. well only if they bid ?60M + for him maybe..

Villa and Torres are 2 hot players whom almost the big clubs in Europe are looking at.. we know Chelsea wants Villa too as do City, Rafa wants Silva.. I was hoping Wenger will be interested in him too but so far no news on that.. I heard Juve being interested in them too..

Madrid and Valencia have broken the negotiation about Villa and Real is aiming Forlan now stated today Marca.com.

also a rumor about ManU wanting Eto'o as CR7 replacement. it possible seen that Guardiola don't wants him for next season.

Barca hijack Villa deal :p

Barcelona vice-president Rafael Yuste has revealed that talks are taking place with Valencia regarding the potential signing of David Villa.

...

Yuste told Radio Catalunya: "The talks (over Villa) are absolutely open.

"Because of the success of our club, many players are interested in coming to Barcelona.

"This is good and I think people have to be aware of it."

Meanwhile, Yuste believes that goalkeeper Victor Valdes is 'very happy' at the Camp Nou.

Ribery for Madrid!!

Zinedine Zidane is in talks with Franck Ribery and has told his compatriot a move to Real Madrid would be too good to turn down.

"I am in talks with Franck," the former three times World Player of the Year, who is an advisor to Real president Florentino Perez, told Sunday's edition of French newspaper Le Dauphine Libere.

"He is a fantastic player who has his place at Real. And playing in this team is a career opportunity, which, to me, you do not refuse.

"It would be a nice opportunity for Franck. It is up to him."

Everybody talks about Ribery at Man Utd. I don't want him, at all. I prefer someone younger and who can actually stay at a club more than two years. Like Douglas Costa.

But if Fergie wants another french player in the squad (I'm ok with that, I'm french remember? :D) he must not be blinded by the hype and must chose someone with an anormous potential instead of Ribery. Gourcuff will be perfect, but United don't usually play with a real number 10 anymore. Benzema is another target and Fergie said many time that he wants him at United. But we already have Rooney screaming he wants to be on the front of the attack.

Fergie, if you read me (and I know you do ;)) please let Ribery go to Real Madrid and go for Douglas Costa.

Or some other young diamond you can polish.

I agree, look at Ronaldo, bought for 12m sold for 80m.

I don't want to see Fergie blow something like 50-60m on Ribery.

City sign Tevez..

Unsettled Argentine forward Carlos Tevez is to leave Premier League champions Manchester United, the club said on Saturday.

Tevez, 25, spent much of the 2008-09 season on the bench. His last appearance was as a substitute in the Champions League final against Barcelona in May which United lost 2-0.

A statement on the club website (www.manutd.com) said United had agreed a price of 25.5 million pounds ($41.71 million) and offered a five-year contract which would have made him one of the club's highest paid players.

"Disappointingly, however, his advisors informed the club that, despite the success he has enjoyed during on the club's most successful periods, he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United," the statement said.

Nope, just that City and Chelsea are the favourites to sign him, and City are 'winning'.

^^ Exactly..

Word is Barca are preparing a bid for Mascherano..

Liverpool coach Mauricio Pellegrino has failed to rule out the possibility of Javier Mascherano leaving Anfield.

...

"Every time negotiations are underway, money always makes the decision," Pellegrino told sport.es.

"Anyway, Mascherano is such an important player for us, like other ones can be for Barca.

"I do not want to say anything about it because we already know that in football's world, nothing is impossible."

I also read that Chelsea is interested in Torres now that Villa isn't coming and Ribery and Aguero are also on Madrid's list.. its either Torres or Tevez.. most probably Tevez but if they offer an insane amount of cash can 'Pool say no? Liverpool needs money right now..

According to a sensational report in today's News of the World, Chelsea are putting together a shock ?50 million bid for Liverpool ace Fernando Torres.

But its NOTW so..

plus it seems they will sign Pirlo.. which will be a pity because I like and respect him a lot.. he is a top class player..

Chelsea can make a bid as big as they want, Liverpool won't sell their main goal threat. No amount of money can replace torres' sheer class and I can't think of another striker that i'd rather have in the Liverpool team right now.

Torres to Man Utd

Yeah... but Xabi might leave

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez could be about to land one of his favourite players, Xabi Alonso, after having tracked the Liverpool midfielder since 2004.

According to The Times, the Merseysiders have hurriedly slapped a ?41 million (₤35m) price tag on the 27-year-old after he reportedly bid farewell to certain members of the Reds staff.

Madrid have yet to pounce by making any official offers but it is well documented that Los Blancos? new administration have made the ex-Real Sociedad man one of their prime objectives in the transfer market. They have reportedly made various offers in the recent past, ranging anywhere from ?20m to ?25m plus player exchanges, although they conceded defeat when Liverpool announced that he was not for sale.

Alonso has had a rocky relationship with manager, Rafa Benitez ever since the gaffer persistently went after Gareth Barry last summer. But the player has still declared that he is happy to remain at Anfield, although he would constantly admit that his future is unclear.

Man Utd finally sign Valencia, sensible business I think (Y)

http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...amp;newsid=3061

Yeah, I'm glad we've got him. We need an extra one or two though, preferrably a striker, as long as it isn't Ribery.

What you fail to notice Martyn is while the overal value of Glen may be 18, Portsmouth still owed Liverpool money for Crouch (Since most clubs never pay in lump sums) So you've probably going to pay about 11-12mill. While we owe Liverpool sod all and liverpool probably owe us now. Not bad business by both clubs.

    • An actual cosmic "Eye of Sauron" had been looking straight at us all along by Sayan Sen Image by Kovin P. Vasquez via Pexels | Not representative An international team of researchers has solved a long-standing mystery surrounding a distant blazar known as PKS 1424+240, helping explain why it produces some of the brightest high-energy gamma rays and cosmic neutrinos ever observed despite appearing to have a relatively slow-moving jet. The findings were published on June 6 in Astronomy & Astrophysics Letters. The study addresses a broader challenge in astrophysics: understanding how extreme cosmic objects accelerate particles to very high energies and produce very high-energy (VHE) photons and neutrinos. PKS 1424+240 is located billions of light-years from Earth. It has attracted attention for years because it is both a powerful source of VHE gamma rays and the brightest known neutrino-emitting blazar in the sky, according to observations by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. It is also associated with one of the strongest peaks in IceCube's nine-year neutrino sky map A blazar is a type of active galactic nucleus powered by a supermassive black hole that pulls in surrounding matter and launches jets of plasma moving close to the speed of light. What makes blazars unique is their orientation. One of their jets points almost directly toward Earth, making them appear exceptionally bright across the electromagnetic spectrum and allowing scientists to study some of the most extreme physical processes in the Universe. The scientists exclaimed it's like the 'Eye of Sauron' in deep space. Usually, the brightest gamma-ray-emitting blazars are expected to have jets that appear to move very quickly. However, radio observations of PKS 1424+240 suggested that its jet was moving much more slowly, creating a contradiction that became part of a long-running problem known as the "Doppler factor crisis." To investigate, researchers analyzed 15 years of observations from the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), a network of 10 radio antennas spread across the continental United States, Hawaii and St. Croix. Using a technique called Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), astronomers combine signals from widely separated radio telescopes to create a virtual Earth-sized telescope capable of revealing extremely fine details. The team combined 42 polarization-sensitive radio images collected between 2009 and 2025, creating a much deeper and more detailed view of the jet than had previously been possible. The observations were carried out as part of MOJAVE (Monitoring Of Jets in Active galactic nuclei with VLBA Experiments), a long-running program that studies the brightness, polarization and magnetic field structures of jets produced by active galaxies. The project aims to better understand how activity near supermassive black holes is linked to high-energy radiation and neutrino emission. “When we reconstructed the image, it looked absolutely stunning,” said Yuri Kovalev, lead author of the study and Principal Investigator of the European Research Council-funded MuSES project at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “We have never seen anything quite like it — a near-perfect toroidal magnetic field with a jet, pointing straight at us.” The image revealed an unusual geometry. The researchers found that Earth lies almost directly in line with the jet, with a viewing angle of less than 0.6 degrees. In simple terms, astronomers are looking almost straight down the jet. This turned out to be the key to the mystery. Because the jet is aimed almost directly at Earth, a relativistic effect called Doppler boosting dramatically increases its apparent brightness. The study found that this effect boosts the emission by a factor of about 30 while also making the jet appear slower than it actually is. “This alignment causes a boost in brightness by a factor of 30 or more,” said Jack Livingston, a co-author at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “At the same time, the jet appears to move slowly due to projection effects — a classic optical illusion.” The nearly head-on view also gave scientists a rare look at the jet's magnetic field. Using polarized radio signals, they detected a clear toroidal, or doughnut-shaped, magnetic field component. The observations suggest the jet carries an electric current and that its magnetic field helps launch, shape and stabilize the flow of plasma. Researchers believe this magnetic structure may also play a key role in accelerating particles to energies high enough to produce both gamma rays and neutrinos. “Solving this puzzle confirms that active galactic nuclei with supermassive black holes are not only powerful accelerators of electrons, but also of protons — the origin of the observed high-energy neutrinos,” Kovalev said. The research was conducted under the MuSES (Multi-messenger Studies of Energetic Sources) project, which investigates how active galactic nuclei accelerate particles and generate different cosmic signals, including light and neutrinos. Scientists say understanding how protons are accelerated and linked to neutrino production remains one of the major unanswered questions in astrophysics. The findings help explain why some blazars can appear to have slow jets while still producing extremely bright high-energy emissions. More broadly, the study strengthens the link between relativistic jets, magnetic fields, gamma rays and high-energy neutrinos. Researchers say the results provide new clues about how some of the Universe's most powerful natural particle accelerators work and offer important insights for multimessenger astronomy, which combines different types of cosmic signals to study extreme events in space.
