This is a stupid question but you never know ,is there anyway to git windows 7 off TeckNet with out a subscription?

I did have the trial thing once :p

No, you cannot. The trial did not grant you access to the software downloads.

I really hope you can pick the version during install. The only good thing I had to say about Vista was that it was "one disc fits all" (bar architecture) unlike the mess that XP introduced.

But unlike the Vista listings, these 7 ones just show one version available in each ISO.

It's really interesting the way they're managing this. My download of Ultimate x64 is proceeding quite well (~260KB... I've seen worse), but if I try to click a link to download anything else, it won't respond.

I'm thinking there's some kind of code running back there to limit the number of clicks that actually make it back to the servers. I wouldn't mind grabbing Pro, too.

Not what I'd call a perfect solution, but if it helps keep the site up for more users, it's not too bad, actually.

Technically you wouldn't need pro, since each iso have the same sha-bang. You could try using pro key in ultimate edition. I haven't done it, so I can't really confirm anything.

so i have to dl both? that sucks. my speed is varying from 550 to 128

Well download what you think you NEED first. If your computer supports 64 bit, then go wild with 64 bit. if you need 32 bit, then have another computer download 32 bit while you download 64 bit and installing. The download should be done by the time y ou're done.

Even with Vista, they had downloads for each edition. I had MSDN for Vista few years ago, so this I remember. I'm pretty sure that they confirmed that Windows 7, like Vista, contains all editions, and is based on the product key. I think you can still download separate editions for vista, but that isn't the case for SP2

that's exacltly what i am going to do, thanks! i think this is very exciting! :woot: does that make me a geek?

There's already a thread about this. Sort of: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...=807418&hl=

It seems like you've got double moderation skills :p .

Oh well, I see you already updated the post  .

Yeah I think the seperate Vista editions are still there, but there was also all-in-one editions like that one I capped. But there's no such one in the 7 list. They're all single edition ISOs.

Just hoping that after all the things they've done right with 7 that they don't go and blow it at the last step.

I guess we'll know when someone tried to install Pro or Home off the Ultimate ISO or something like that.

Does anyone know - Will the Windows 7 Enterprise image here take the Volume License keys that will be released on the Volume Licensing site tomorrow for those of us with SA on the desktop??

Usually technet gives out retail copies. I think that it wouldnt work . Your better off waiting for the volume licensing download tommorrow.
