Agreed. I wasn't talking about his opinion or mine (or how long I have been here). I was talking about his comment saying I was whining. I guess "whining" is when you don't have the same opinions now. Heaven forbid we say anything negative. Where was he when I was praising the new launch of the site back in December? Where was he when I was supporting the Neowin staff throughout all the troubles they experienced trying to implement the new forums?

Say one negative thing, and then BAM. Sad.

Well I apologise for misreading your post then :) As I say, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and all feedback is appreciated by the administrators - positive or negative. One isn't going to get results if they don't complain about the issues they dislike. It's also down to the conduct of the member and you've been polite in the way you've posted about your issues with the new design, compared to the way some people can act.

Is there a way to get to the forums index (forums mainpage) from the neowin homepage now? I see theres a 100 ways to get to recent posts or the spy but I just want to get to the forums index? Looking pretty schmick btw, however this change seems pretty soon after the last one.

Click the Community tab.

I really like the new design.

Just a few criticisms though:

  • The Digg, Twitter and FB links in the articles aren't aligned properly. In particular, the bottom border of the Digg logo is cut off.
  • I think the side sections (e.g. Latest Community Activity, Latest Software) need to be "lifted out" of the page a bit more. Maybe add in a border?
  • The article-image cycler at the top needs to be continuous (rather than leaving a 3rd page with only a "IE9 preview" article-image).
  • A tiny annoyance. The tab for Forum Posts in the Latest Community Activity starts off way too close to the left border. Could the gap be increased slightly? Or add the "Show" text, like the main body tabs?
  • Could the overall/main RSS feed banner be added to the "All" news section in the main body?

It's just a new skin, no new features have been added

Ok, thanks for the reply.

I must say the site is looking really nice!

I'm hoping that there will be some added functionality for us forum junkies in the near future, in order to make it easier to find unread posts in threads we are interested in :)

For the time being, whilst the features you've suggested aren't here, I'm wondering if you've taken advantage of the 'Watch topic' and 'Watch forum' links, which send emails to your inbox when there is a new reply ('Watch topic') or a new thread ('Watch forum')? The content of the post is also included in the email. It's not the most convenient of ways to be informed of new replies/threads, but I'm just suggesting it in case you are unaware of it.

That said, you do refer to yourself as a forum junkie, so you're probably aware of all the features :p

Yes, I'm trying to use the watch feature. However, nothing seems to work as I'm used to from other forums:

1. My list of watched topics isn't sorted with unread first

2. There's no "go to first unread post" link in my list of watched topics

That wouldn't be so bad if mail notification worked like in other forums, but:

1. If I set it to "delayed notification", I will lose out on replies (those that are posted in threads I'm not reading right now)

2. If I set it to "immediate notification", I will be spammed with identical notifications as long as I have even a tab open with the forum in it

Other forums will:

1. Sort my watched threads with the thread with the most recent new/unread reply first

2. Give me a link on my watch page I can click to go to the first unread post in each thread

3. Send me just one e-mail about the first unread reply to a watched thread, and no new notifications until I have opened that specific thread

Thanks again for your replies :)

    • Anthropic accuses Alibaba of using 25,000 fake accounts to copy Claude's capabilities by Karthik Mudaliar Anthropic has accused Alibaba of using nearly 25,000 fraudulent accounts to extract capabilities from Claude on a huge scale. According to a report from Reuters, Anthropic told US lawmakers that operators linked to Alibaba and the company’s Qwen AI team generated 28.8 million exchanges with Claude between April 22 and June 5, 2026. That is a lot of Claude conversations, but Anthropic says this was not ordinary chatbot use. The company believes the accounts were part of a coordinated effort to collect answers that could help train or improve rival AI systems. The alleged campaign reportedly focused on some of Claude’s most valuable skills, including software development, multi-step reasoning, and agentic tasks. In practical terms, that means getting an AI model to plan and complete work across several stages rather than simply answering a single question. This is called 'distillation,' where AI companies use outputs from a larger model to train a smaller and cheaper one. The smaller model learns to imitate useful parts of the more capable system without needing the same amount of computing power. The distillation process isn't automatically suspicious, but the problem comes when one company gathers another provider's outputs without permission and at an industrial scale. Also, this does not mean Alibaba obtained Claude’s source code, model weights, or original training data. Instead, Anthropic claims the accounts repeatedly asked Claude carefully designed questions and collected the answers. Those answers could then be used as training material for another model. Anthropic has made similar accusations against DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax earlier this year. As Neowin previously reported, Anthropic said those three companies collectively generated more than 16 million Claude exchanges through roughly 24,000 accounts. Anthropic says the new campaign produced almost twice as many exchanges in a matter of weeks. Anthropic reportedly told lawmakers that the campaign could help Chinese AI developers approach the capabilities of its Mythos Preview model. Mythos is focused on advanced cybersecurity work, including finding and exploiting complex software vulnerabilities. via Reuters | Photo via DepositPhotos.com

    • I don't think it was ever a big question. In fact, I don't think anyone ever asked about how clocks work on Mars.
    • I don't know what the price difference is between a 5GbE and a 10GbE part, but it seems that putting a 10GbE port in might be a bit more 'standard'.
