Windows Live Essentials 'beta' out now!

wave 1 and 2 were 9

8 is an earlier version

3 is 14

4 is 15

Umm, no. Epic Fail, how can two waves be 9. :s And how can the next wave be 4 versions ahead. Windows Live Wave 1 was definitely not 9.

...So how do Wave 3 become 14.0... Has to be a reason why the change. :s

The thread title is so misleading. I was going to cry in happiness.

Yeah I don't know why the entire staff just sits around and laughs at everybody else who doesn't have the build... The staff needs to wake up and realize they have a job and fix the title because the OP is too obsessed to do that and wants everybody to see it on the Spy and elsewhere...

No the sooner I get it, the better.

You don't know who ahmz is, do you? :D

This makes absolutely no sense... I remember Windows Live Messenger 8.5 coming out refreshing the look and making it Windows Live Wave 2, with the Windows Vista look. Then I remember the excitement with what was going to be Windows Live Messenger 9.0, which was Wave 3's version. Confused! :s

I'll explain below :)

wave 1 and 2 were 9

8 is an earlier version

3 is 14

That's incorrect.

During Windows Live 'Wave 1', Microsoft released the 'Wave 1' version of Messenger which was version 8.0.x and they later updated this 'Wave' with version 8.1.x

The release of the Windows Live 'Wave 2' software included Windows Live Messenger 2008; this was version 8.5.x

Windows Live Essentials 2009, which was the 'Wave 3' software, contained Windows Live Messenger 2009; they bumped this version of Messenger up to 14.x to keep it in-line with other Windows Live software (Windows Live Mail, which was built upon Outlook Express, was version 14.x at the time).

Now - most likely this week - the 'beta' version of Windows Live Messenger 2011 will be released, included with the 'beta' of Windows Live Essentials 2011; this version will be version 15.x

I hope that clears up any confusion :)

Thread title changed to something much less misleading

I believe it actually took their entire server down.

I know (snipped) is on this story like mad. So when the link does come available they will post it faster than ever, and then the server will crash...... again!

On it like mad? All I can see that they've posted is that they've heard the 'beta' build was compiled today, which might make sense seeing as the WLMessenger team have gone out to a disco tonight?

The only result in google, when you search for this build number "15.4.2847.0621" from trustnerd.com is Neowins thread about it

I know, I have google to show the latest news on that build number for twitter/websites/etc. Let's hope it's leaked! :p

Exactly, I don't know what all the hype was about that everybody thought it was some official beta leak...

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
