Windows Live Essentials 'beta' out now!

Recommended Posts

I really don't udnerstand what are you looking for on (snipped) now. As it's said on twitter: "Windows Live Essentials 2011 Beta Has Been Compiled! Build # is 15.4.2847.0621. Release is coming very soon. Keep posted on (snipped)". Here can't be any links yet. Release won't be sooner than a day or two.

Fair enough, main things I didnt like were:

Messenger - massive messenger screen by default not just buddy list

Mail - much more difficult to send a picture as an attachment rather than a photo email

I've not tried Windows Live Mail 2011 so can't comment, but as for Windows Live Messenger, can you really class that as a thing to dislike when it's an option? A lot of people prefer the default to be like that and it can easily be changed by the user; I much prefer to see all of my social updates down the side, like the default setting.

Personal preference I suppose, but I like a compact view as default, and extended as an option, when I am logging into messenger, it is purely to talk to someone - I guess if it is for the whole social experience then big is better, not what I use it for though

I love that site, personally.

Yes, but it's just a one-time change you need to make, which you'll most likely do as soon as you install the application; when you start up the application again it'll remember your setting, so I fail to see why this is an issue? I'm just trying to understand, that's all :)

Few may not like the new messenger but majority do.

Oh im sure I will like it once Im using it more often, and worked out its settings etc, new is always better, most of the time, sometimes

lol its ok, The option to make it just the buddy list was easy enough to change, and it probably was the leaked versions fault, but it made me change it everytime I logged in was my issue

I dont mind if it is bright pink with pictures of the telly tubbies on it as default if I can change it once and it will stay that way:rofl:

I LOLED.

To be honest, I long for the days of a nice simple clean IM client. WLM got bloated and "shiny" too fast.

Even though Windows Live Messenger 2009 introduced a lot of options for one to clean up the UI greatly (in regard to adding an option to collapse literally every menu and hide most things)? I don't see how the below is too bloated:

+1! WLM is far from bloated. I don't understand where half the people get that from. It has extras that come with it, that are easy to get rid of. The only thing they have that gets annoying are ads, but, even with the right hack *cough*apatch*cough* you can remove those! :p

How his hitting the attach button much more difficult tha hitting the add photo button ?

I know we all pretty much expected the 'beta' to be released this week, but this is the first I've heard an official Microsoft employee comment on it:

Twitter:

Those are official Microsoft pages for Windows Live in the UK, so I'm positive we can trust this :p

Should be either Thursday/Friday according to this source.

Dont quote that failure, if they quote Garcia. He's a liar. I wanna meet him, and slap his face for being such a fool.

If his sources were correct, they wouldnt constantly change. He would have professional accurate information. His blog, wouldnt have so many grammatical errors.

And he would really state if he worked for Microsoft, or not.

Sorry, but its true.

Haha .. you go kiddo ... this whole thread is a mess ... people are anxious to see the release .. but I think some are playing on that!!

I'm sure we'll all enjoy WLM2011 beta when it arrives...

    • I asking where you are from or live, because if you don't live in the U.K, why are you so bothered? That is another reason I voted out, E.U and people poking their noses in where they should not be. Sadly we still have it, Trump, and his cronies. Putin as well and no doubt others. It makes no difference what we believe, if we made the right choice or not, we are out. As I said to someone when the news first broke we have voted out, we just need to make the best of it. I have no problems with closer ties to the E.U, we still need to trade. Just don't want to be in their club.
    • So you think I voted out because i am anti-immigrant. I am fed up with those that come over and think that we owe them something. The ones that are at the moment coming over from France where they are already in a safe country because they think and no doubt will get everything chucked at them. While people who were born and bred here get very little. I have nothing against as i have said before those that come here and work. In fact I know full well that our NHS would struggle without them. I do have a problem with those that come over here and try to push their religion and their way of life onto us. My reasons for voting out was because of what the E.U is and is also becoming. I did not agree with Freedom of movement, not because I don't want people over here, but because people need to be checked before being allowed to cross borders and that goes both ways. But my main thing was because the E.U is becoming if not already a united states of Europe. The only reason countries like Poland and Romania joined was because they had no money. When my partner left Poland, she had nothing, Poland had nothing, that is why she left. Wanted to learn something and earn a living. The E.U would have us back according to Michel Barnier. https://www.euronews.com/my-eu...ator-barnier-tells-euronews Why are you so scared to say what country you are in?
    • I wonder what that line really meant...
    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics.
