Mac OS X Lion Discussion

Indicator lights for open apps is still an option, but they've been disabled by default since the OS pretty much hides the whole open/closed metaphor from you (and seems to do a great job at it).

Once again, like iOS.

With or without multitasking, I did not and I still do not notice which apps are opened and which apps are closed.

It will probably help my fiancee.... She ALWAYS has like 7-12 apps open at once :/ She's just too lazy to close them or she "needs" them

some Lion screenshots here, fresh posted; can't wait to see more

I don’t. It removes some of OS X’s soul IMO. It makes the OS look rather boring. Like if one selects the Graphite scheme in the prefpane.

They better compensate this by adding colors elsewhere.

I have a question : In the Finder, do folders still look like blue, physical folders, or do they now look like iOS’s Folders?

hmm, is it just me or is much of this really only beneficial if you have a MPB, or that Magic Track pad. Does it support mouse gestures, or window gestures (like Windows 7 with the Shaking, and such) or what real benefit to a Desktop Setup do the new functions bring?

Not yet.

Well hopefully it will! Can you show us a screen shot of those new progress bars, really want to see those. :D

The new Aqua kind of reminds of of that "Milk" theme back in the Panther days. Only with colored elements still intact.

They could udpate the drivers for the Magic Mouse too. There's third party software out there that let's you use it much like the magic track pad.

If someone can take a fully detailed screenshot of the traffic lights, they look slightly different to me.

Spotlight's blue seems a bit vivid in comparison to the other blues, I wonder if this will be fixed.

From Mac Rumors:

- Application persistance. Apps and their states are saved when you logout and back in. Background apps may be terminated by Mac OS X and will restore if the user picks them again. Basically the concept of open and closed apps is gone.

That sounds awesome! As a Windows user, I hope we'll see something similar for Windows... :( .

They are different. Smaller and more candy-like.

Here you go.

Note that they're still buggy (like the squared corners on the left side aren't supposed to be there).

they look like in iTunes X apparently, even the window and the gray icons, as someone already noted.

I really like the new lighter progress bars, it's more Aqua-Ice lol

Okay, I was just unsure of how pinch to zoom would work, or the fnacy tab changing would work. I guess with a desktop setup, it's easy to hold control and zoom, but at the same time having things a little more fluid are nice.

Here you go.

Nice style. (Y) Honestly, this time around I don't have anything to complain about when it comes to the new Aqua. I've been waiting for this change since Tiger and really expected Leopard to be this way.

Wow, even though it’s lost some of its soul IMO, the interface really does look nice and polished. You can’t really do something any better than those graphics.

It makes me feel like downloading it and installing it on my main desktop. Tempted by the devil...

+1 it looks awesome

I really like the new progress bar

    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Resident Evil, Mafia, Like a Dragon, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. Songs of Conquest is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you'll be managing a kingdom, making tough decisions, and taking down enemy forces in tactical combat. Meanwhile, Rogue Waters is a roguelike where, as a pirate captain, you command a ship and crew through procedurally generated encounters. The double giveaway is coming to an end on June 11. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. The June selection is Octopath Traveler 2, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, and Overlooting to keep as Steam keys. The $15 bundle gives you all eight games from this month's Choice selection. The month-long promotion will come to an end on July 6, giving you ample time to decide on whether you want the titles. The Humble Store also brought in standard gaming collections this week. The IGN Live Bundle kicked things off with games like Control, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Blair Witch, Rollerdrome, and The Last Campfire for $10. At the same time, the We Will Always be Here bundle carried in titles like Bad End Theater, Thirsty Suitors, Vampire Therapist, and Tavern Talk for $12. Next, the 2K Sports Champions Bundle comes touting games like NBA 2K26, PGA TOUR 2K25, OlliOlli World Rad Edition, and TopSpin 2K25 with a hefty $25 price tag. Lastly, the Redline Racing Bundle is touting games like Art of Rally, Descenders, Mudrunner, and Assetto Corsa Competizione with a $10 price tag.
