Here is my first attempt at a proper picture with my new camera.

Camera is a Fuji Finepix S2800HD

Settings were set to auto mode... so no skills there then :)

Cropped a little in photoshop

Any tips would be welcome.

I had the S1000fd. It was probably the older version of yours but I loved that camera. It was my first step before spending more on a DSLR. I got to practice alot with the manual settings on it and had some great shots. I still have it but haven't used it in months since I now have my DLSR's.

Was outside on the balcony with my daughter taking some candid pics. Really liked the way this one came out. Taken with my Sony A230 and 50mm 1.8 lens.

thats a great shot!!!.. were the shadow corners did in a software?? or due to wide aparture?

sorry i forgot the technical word for it.

It was definitely open all the way at 1.8 and I added a little Vignetting in Lightroom but I think it was more from the way the shadows were hitting the balcony area we were in.

Yeah, I used my kit lens for those. I wanted to use my 50mm 1.4D but I couldn't get a spot far enough back.
