ASUS's RT-AC5300U is a new AC router that is as wicked as it looks

So far we have seen all sorts of crazy monitors, PCs, laptops, and phones coming out of IFA Berlin 2015. But with all these new amazing technological goodies, how do you plan on connecting all of them to the internet?

ASUS has an answer straight from your dreams (or nightmares) with the announcement of the ASUS RT-AC5300U. ASUS is claiming that their latest, is the world's fastest router. Judging by the specifications alone, this appears to be the case. The arachnid looking router features 8 massive legs external antennas designed to give you all the speed you need to stream your bandwidth-intensive content, and connect a plethora of different electronic devices.

Full specifications for the ASUS RT-AC5300U:

The ASUS router is a 4x4 router - meaning four of its eight antennas are dedicated to the 2.4GHz frequency with the four remaining cranking out at 5GHz. ASUS says that 2.4GHz channel is capable of transfer rates of up to 1Gbps, while the 5GHz can operate at a shocking 2.167Gbps. For those counting, this tri-band router (1x 2.4GHz band and 2 x 5GHz bands) totals to an intense 5.334 Gbps, hence the 5300 in the name. You probably won't be seeing these speeds in the real world, but 3 bands clocking in at those speeds will definitely provide some flexibility.

No word yet on price or release date for ASUS's monster router, but we will keep our eyes peeled.
