Dynamics 365 Guides gets accessibility improvements and more in latest update

Microsoft's recent updates for Dynamics 365 offerings include a host of bug fixes for Project Service Automation, support for 39 more languages for Customer Service Insights, and the revamping of Dynamics NAV as Business Central.

Now, the tech giant has rolled out the latest release of Dynamics 365 Guides, bumping the app to version 104.1908.24001 (with the solution version now standing at 104.1908.0.117). This update brings accessibility improvements, improved hologram manipulation, and support for more languages.

For those unaware, Guides is a mixed-reality application for Microsoft's HoloLens devices. Currently available in preview, the service provides workers guidance through holographic instructions for technical processes that they may be unfamiliar with. You can learn more about its usage by checking out our very own João Carrasqueira's testing of the app with HoloLens 2.

High-contrast mode

Expanding a bit on each of the new capabilities, better color contrast and a high-contrast mode is offered with the PC application. These changes are aimed toward making things easier in terms of accessibility; more specifically it caters for visually-impaired users. The Narrator feature can be utilized to have authoring options read out, with the keyboard being used to tab the user interface.

Furthermore, holograms now move in a more natural way when being placed in space. This means that more accurate alignment with respect to the real world is now possible. And finally, the PC app and HoloLens app now offers support for additional languages, with support for the following languages now included: English (U.S., UK), French (France, Canada), German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Chinese (People's Republic of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong SAR), Japanese, and Korean.

For those interested in utilizing the enhancements, the PC app and HoloLens app can be updated from the Store. However, the Guides (Preview) solution needs to be upgraded as well if the newly supported languages need to be used.
