Google sends out invitations for September 30 hardware event

Today, Google started sending out press invitations to its next Made By Google event, which will be held on September 30 at 11am Pacific Time. As for what the company will be announcing, it didn't leave it as a mystery. The invitation clearly says, "We invite you to learn all about our new Chromecast, latest smart speaker and new Pixel phones."

Presumably, the most notable thing is that the word 'phone' is plural, meaning that Google has more than one Pixel to share with the world. Rumor has it that the Pixel 5 won't have an XL variant, so it's more likely that alongside the Pixel 5, Google will detail the Pixel 4a 5G, for which it's already announced the $499 price.

Aside from the two Pixel phones, there will be a Chromecast and a smart speaker, possibly without Nest branding, being that Google actually used brand names for its other products in the invitation.

Apparently, this event will not be live-streamed to the public, a first for Made By Google events. Members of the press that have received invitations have to RSVP by September 20 in order to view the event.
