Samsung announces two new 25W power banks and a 45W car charger

Samsung announced its flagship smartphone offerings for 2020, the Galaxy S20 series and the foldable Galaxy Z Flip at its Unpacked event yesterday. While the S20 line of devices is the successor to the Galaxy S10 family, the Z Flip is a completely new clamshell foldable phone that sports an ultra-thin glass for the display. Samsung also showed off the Galaxy Buds+.

The company also announced a bunch of accessories for the devices. A few of those included a couple of 10,000mAh powerbanks and a 45W car charger. The portable battery packs, as Samsung calls it, comes in two flavors – one with Qi wireless charging and one without. The 25W portable charger comes with two USB Type-C ports and supports 25W fast charging via USB Type-C Power Delivery standard (USB-C PD). It can top up devices wirelessly at 8.5W speeds (via GSMArena).

The second of the two comes with one USB Type-A port and one USB Type-C port. This variant lacks wireless charging capabilities. It must be noted, however, that the two accessories do not support 25W charging when two devices are plugged in at the same time.

The third device – and probably the most interesting – is the 45W car charger. Named the “45W Dual Car Charger”, this device comes with one USB Type-A and one USB Type-C port. The Type-A port is good for 15W fast charging, whereas the Type-C port can charge the Note10+ or the S20 Ultra at 45W. A 5A USB Type-C to Type-C cable that is bundled with this accessory is necessary for enabling 45W fast charging.

The wireless charging capable 25W Portable Battery retails at $79.99. There are no prices mentioned yet for the other two accessories. It is expected that the asking price of all accessories will be revealed when theGalaxy S20 officially released on 6 March.
