September Games with Gold has Hitman (2016), Earth Defense Force 2025, and more

September is almost here and Microsoft has announced what games it will be sending Xbox Live Gold members during the new month to claim for free. There are two Xbox One and two Xbox 360 games coming as part of the familiar Games with Gold promotion. The latter games are also natively playable on the Xbox One thanks to them being in Microsoft's Backward Compatibility program.

See below to find the four Games with Gold announced today for the month of September:

Hitman: The Complete First Season (Xbox One: September 1 - 30)

Featuring all of the Season One locations and episodes from the Prologue, Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado, and Hokkaido. As Agent 47, you will perform contract hits on powerful, high-profile targets in an intense spy-thriller story across a world of assassination.

We Were Here (Xbox One: September 16 - October - 15)

Lost in a frozen wasteland and split up from your partner inside an abandoned castle, the only possession you have left is a walkie-talkie with a familiar voice on the other end. Can the two of you find your way out in time?

Earth Defense Force 2025 (Xbox 360, Xbox One: September 1 - 15)

Eight years since the defeat of the alien invasion and the destruction of the Mothership, civilization recovered most of the prosperity it once had. In 2025 a new state of emergency arises as giant aliens and insects are discovered deep underground. The Ravagers have evolved, and are stronger than ever. The Earth Defense Force must now stand up to these terrifying creatures to save humanity once more!

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (Xbox 360, Xbox One: September 16 - 30)

Join the world's greatest fighters to swap blows in action-packed battles! Choose from a massive cast of characters and unleash your most vicious combos to claim ultimate victory!

The above mentioned cooperative puzzle game We Were Here will be landing on the Xbox One platform the same day it will be offered as a Games with Gold title. As such, a store page is not available yet.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers who missed out on the August Games with Gold still have some time left to grab the previous promotions as well. Gears of War 4 and Forza Motorsport 6 for Xbox One, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for Xbox 360 are still available.

Don't forget that two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is currently discounted to $2 for new members. This bundles up both PC and console variants of Xbox Game Pass as well as Xbox Live Gold into one package. Up to 36 leftover months from those subscriptions are also converted to Ultimate when subscribing for the first time.
