Sony releases limited edition (and expensive) red Vaio Windows 8 laptops

If you want to spend a lot of money for your next Windows 8 touchscreen laptop, then Sony has something that might be right up your alley. The company revealed today it is releasing limited edition versions of three of its Vaio laptops, the Duo 13 (shown above), the Pro 13 and the Fit 15, all with a deep red color on their cases.

In a post on Sony's blog, the company said:

The signature red finish is achieved by a variety of painting techniques on different materials, including carbon fiber and aluminum. Multiple paint layers are individually applied and hand-polished, building layer upon layer of lustrous color. To give it that extra glossy finish, a durable protective UV coating creates an extra vibrant sheen with gorgeous depth and richness.

All three models come with Intel Core i7 processors, with the 12.68 inch Duo 13 and 13 inch Pro 13 models getting 8 GB of RAM and 512GB SSDs. The larger 15.5 inch Fit 15 has 12 GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 735M GPU; Sony is selling these Red Edition version in its company stories and on its website. Be prepared to spend a lot of cash, the Vaio Duo 13 has a price of $2,999.99, while the Pro 13 has a price of $2,599.99. The Fit 15 has the "lowest" price tag of the three red models at $1,999.99.
