Windows NT BSOD Error Code List

Thanks Louis Green who sent me an email on a well written article he has done on NT error codes.

Blurb from the article: Windows NT (New Technologies) was originally created as a business operating system designed to be more stable, with more security and better networking abilities than previous operating systems. But occasionally the Windows NT operating could malfunction and produce a blue screen type error. Microsoft realised this and built in to the operating system a coding system for identifying the types of errors produced in the hope that the problem can be fixed or avoided. These errors can happen because of faulty hardware, a corrupt program file and even by installing a new device drive. But these are just a few of causes of this blue screen which is why this list of error codes has been produced. The information in this guide is for:

  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server

  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system, version 3.1

  • Microsoft Windows NT Server versions 3.5, 3.51, 4.0

  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation versions 3.5, 3.51, 4.0

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 all versions

These error codes might be applicable to Windows XP Home and Pro editions too, but as yet has been untested, mainly because this is the most stable OS from Microsoft yet.
