Yes, he's 14, and been a member here on Neowin for 2 years. I.e. Since he was 12. This site has an explicit policy of not allowing anyone under 13 to be a member. So he has a history of 'flouting' the rules here. This wasn't the first time he was spotted 'griefing' other players, which is why he was watched when he came online.

It's also amusing to check his profile here. He's been on Facebook since 2008, which also has a no under 13s policy.

Unless things have changed in the last two years, actually there is no such policy. This is taken from the sign up page when you set your age as under 13. For all I know he followed the rules correctly however I will mention this to the other Mod's and get their opinion. I'm also not aware of any agreement in which "rule breaking" on the MC server will have any affect on the forum, again I will discuss this with the other mods. If you are referring to him breaking rules on the forum then from his history, its been noticed. If there are things that are going unnoticed then again please use the report button.

COPPA Form

All users under the age of 13 must seek permission from a parent or guardian before you may participate on these forums.

Once the parental consent form has been received, an account will be created for you with the information supplied, and an email will be sent to the provided email address to notify you that your account is ready for use. You can then change your account details from your 'My Controls' area upon logging in with your new account.

Click here to print the parental consent form

A parent or guardian must complete and mail or fax a signed permission form to the administrator of the community before a child under the age of 13 can complete the registration process.

For further information, please contact the forum administrator

Im sure its been posted before but I suck at finding things, what are the rules on doing live streams / video recording on the server?

There are no set rules about live streams. That said I suggest you ask the site staff if it's ok.

Looks like there is conflicting information then. When I said about the 13year age limit it was after looking at https://www.neowin.net/terms/

3.       Member Conduct.  Individuals under the age of 13 years old may not use the online community within the Site.

If this is not in force then I will withdraw that particular observation.

I didn't think to look there, I thought I would check the sign up process. I will bring this up too so thanks :)

EDIT: having looked at it a second time I think emphasis should be put on the word "may". This doesn't say a 100% no, I have been told that this person has actually had parental consent to him using this site so he hasn't broken any rules in that sense.

So as I have said above, if you do feel the member is harassing you in anyway please report it and we can deal with it. The PM itself looked pretty much like a teenage strop when something has been taken away. If I can't have it, I'm going to claim I never wanted it in the first place. Despite the fact he requested multiple times to be white listed, we all know differently.

I would argue being banned from the server is punishment enough IMO.

can we downgrade the server back to 1.8 release version? The 1.8.1 pre-releases have broken portals. I had to make a cave in my portal room as it kept spawning me in the wall when coming back from the nether.

Is there any way to get mod or helper on this server? I'd like to make a application if so! Also, it say that your server is for 1.4.7, you might want to change that! That's all!

We have enough ops on the Minecraft server.

Also the server is running 1.8.1pre3. Not 1.4.7.

Yes, I know it's running 1.8.1pre3. But it writes that it's running 1.4.7. Change that to 1.8.1pre3 so people won't have to silde through 154 pages and finally see the post you made.

Timan will have to edit the first post at some point. Alternatively we could start a new thread.

I need something else to do on MC

I have vacated my house for now (i will be back) and started a little hidey hole at the far edge of the map

not sure what else to do

maybe build something massive or a community item that will help everyone else out. there are plenty of people who are just starting out who could use some help getting some of basic resources or you could help out people who need help building things.

    • In some countries the law has forced Microsoft to display a menu on a fresh install of Windows which asks which web browser you want and it will install that browser. This doesn't add any bloat to Windows. It simply an additional step when setting up a new PC.
    • Chrome is also a first party browser on Android and ChromeOS. And on those systems, Google is pulling the same dirty tactics as Microsoft does on Windows.
    • Unofficial script lets you install unreleased Windows 11 features without Microsoft Account by Sayan Sen Microsoft has been steadily evolving the Windows Insider Program over the years, introducing new channels and testing paths that allow enthusiasts to experience upcoming and yet-to-be-released Windows features (some interesting hidden ones too) before they reach the public. However, one long-standing requirement has remained largely unchanged as users are generally expected to enroll in the Program and with a Microsoft account. That's where a third-party tool called "OfflineInsiderEnroll" can help. OfflineInsiderEnroll is said to be a lightweight script that enables access to Windows Insider Program builds on systems that are not signed in with a Microsoft account. Essentially the tool configures the necessary Insider settings locally and hence allows users to select and switch between available preview channels while continuing to receive builds through the normal Windows Update channel. If you are wondering how it manages to do so, it is made possible by a Registry value known as TestFlags. When configured to"0x20", Windows stops communicating with Microsoft's online Insider enrollment services thus preventing locally configured Insider settings from being overwritten. This allows the script to apply its own channel configuration directly through the Registry as Windows Update does not verify whether a device has been officially enrolled in the Insider Program or not. Previously the utility has had already supported the traditional Insider branches including Dev, Beta, and Release Preview. However following Microsoft’s recent restructuring of its preview channels, the script has now been updated. The latest OfflineInsiderEnroll version, 2.6.6, adds support for the newly introduced Insider channel lineup. As such, users can now choose from several Experimental channels in addition to Beta and Release Preview options. The update also retains tools for refreshing the Insider cache, resetting Insider settings, and completely stopping Insider enrollment when needed. Keep in mind though that will need elevated privileges when running the script (run as Admin). You can get the latest version of OfflineInsiderEnroll from this page on its official GitHub repo.
    • The "Classic" Outlook has done that for a few years as well. The option to even change that is really hidden away too... It really shouldn't be hard to respect user defaults. Sadly we are the product now, not Outlook. To change in the Classic Outlook: File > Options > Advanced > change "Open hyperlinks from Outlook in"
