Great, just what we need, another stone type that would require a world reset to get it spawning.

Maybe Jeb should concentrate on adding something actually useful, like Buildcraft style pipes for instance.

The whole point of the changes in 1.7 were to make it so blocks no longer had a specific number ID, so while the blocks would not spawn in the areas that have been explored they could easily be found in other un-explored areas and they should not screw up any mods that user those same IDs..

That said, either buildcraft pipes or put in an AE like automated storage/crafting system would be allot nicer then another stupid block..

You're right, new blocks would appear in unexplored regions. Problem that the current map has been explored for quite a distance (iirc Louisifer has pregenerated the map for approx 5000 in all directions from spawn), so it wouldn't be easy to find a new region to begin with.

I'll have a go at installing the beta when I come home tonight. On an unrelated note, wee last day at work for 2013!

Excellent, I won't be home tonight until 11pm ish, so hopefully it'll be running fine or completely dead. :D

What plugins you going to use? Can I request Dynmap and FreeTeleport as a minimum?

Dynmap for sure. FreeTeleport - why not. As for everything else, I'll see.

Let's hope the server will come back to life with Bukkit but without any major issues.

It never got updated with the pre-generated world so shouldn't have to go too far out to find new blocks and it should be a short walk from any of the warps to find new generation :D

It could well do, I haven't looked at Essentials much. I do know that FreeTeleport worked just fine with the Dev builds of Bukkit.

Just installed the latest Bukkit, and Essentials on my own server. Seems to work. So Essentials instead of FreeTeleport then. :)

Isn't FreeTeleport functionality built into essentials? just looked at the list and we had those commands last time :o

yup, just taking a look essentials has the free teleport stuff built in so i think we can do without that.

I don't play on the Neowin server much (I briefly checked it out when it first started) but I do run my own server for my friends so I thought I would recommend a couple plugins. We really like the 'vanilla' Minecraft experience so we have kept our plugins to a minimum but two we really like are the RetractableBridge and PorteCoulissante plugins that let you add movable bridges and working gates controlled by redstone. The plugins haven't been updated in almost a year but the original dev is still around and continues to test them with new Minecraft versions. I have been running them on my 1.7.2 server with the Bukkit dev builds with no issues. I also use Dynmap and highly recommend it though I do think you should turn off the 'cave' map since that is unsporting.  :) With Dynmap, watch out for its rendered tile files. Depending on configuration and map size it can produce literally millions of tiny PNG files that can be several times larger in hard drive space than the actual map. If you want any assistance with Dynmap config (since it can be a little confusing) or any other config let me know, I would be happy to help.

We have only ever used the top view with dynamap, It's mainly used to find each other and check out each others builds! :)

Probably a good choice! The isometric views look very cool but are the ones that cause the most problems.

Ok, I've installed Bukkit and Dynmap. There is no Essentials dev build for 1.7.x yet as far as I can see. Also I'll have to see if I can get the map to actually work...

Update: Bukkit with Essentials and Dynmap running now. The map has yet to be rendered - will look into that later. Essentials seems to work fine.

Please test everything, check if Bukkit messed up the End or anything else and report back in the thread.

I've only used it once, so not an expert in any way.

However what I did on my server is do a "dynmap fullrender world" and just left it to it. It took an hour or so to complete on my smallish map so it won't be quick on our server. It should give regular updates on the progress, but nothing about an eta.

I am currently seeing a map that goes out quite a way however, but it's far from complete as I have been out way further than is currently rendered. It may be working on the isometric view though which probably takes more work.

    • Hello, Version 19 of ESET's consumer offerings are 64-bit only. The 32-bit installers are for Version 18, which were announced in this Neowin article. In addition to ESET NOD32 Antivirus, ESET Internet Security, ESET Smart Security Premium, and ESET Security Ultimate, both ESET Safe Server and ESET Small Business Security v19.1.14.0 have been released as well. • I can name 10x that on why not to switch.... It's funny outlook/office are going towards web app wrappers, and then MS is now preaching native apps again.... ugh can we just pick a lane and stay in it
    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
