Why are you not supposed to be there until 20? Crucible is balanced.. it doesn't matter so much when it comes to weapons and damage.. so a player level 6 can dominate players level 27. Doesn't matter.

Not sure why think you shouldn't be in crucible until level 20? I know people who have done Crucible almost exclusively.. haven't done missions really beyond the initial few.. then went on to Crucible and now they are level 25-26. This is why Crucible has it's own armory and quartermaster.

The crucible is NOT balanced between a low level an a lvl 20, much less a lvl 24+

you can get some kills but the high level has a huge advantage, if you don't know this, you don't know how the crucible "balancing" works and I suggest you read up on it.

The Crucible is bloody awful, I hated every moment I spent there on the bounty I had collected. Such an awful mismatch of players and a massively flawed rewards system

once you get to lvl 20 it's not so bad. I'm not sure it's great fun but... it.s ok... well what primarily ruins both it and other elements of the high level game is that everything is such a effin grind. there's no sense of accomplishment or going anywhere. whihc would have been ok if it was just a shooter without RPG elements and gear rewards. but... it's not...

Destiny would have been better if the game had any form of a soul. It doesn't. It lacks character to make the grind bearable. It seriously makes me wonder if they lost all the best creative talent to 343.

It's got the basis of one, and the potential for a good story, but it never tells the story.

What is the darkness.

There are 4 enemy rations(and a 5th)

None of them are explained

Why are they all here

Why are they not destroyed

How come they all exist after fighting each other

Why did the traveller change the gravity to 1g on all planets(that's a double question as it also applies to Bungee why doesn't the moon, mars and venus have different gravity for more interesting gameplay diversity)

At what point did we originally die, before the travelers arrival? Seems unlikely since we're found in the middle of post traveller war wreckage. So why do we apparently know nothing.

Considering the fact that 343 was created purely to develop halo games in between bungie making them and the fact that all they have made are halo games which always received negative responses compared to the bungie Halo releases I'd say that is unlikely.

Watch out everyone. I just finally hit Level 6 last night! :punk:

Honestly I am extremely happy I only get to play this game now and then, as if I did not, I am very, very positive I would not enjoy it at all with all the grinding and how progression is handled. As I have shared I am not an MMO player, and it is because of the grinding and farming, among many other reasons, that I never got into them.

I hit level 13 last night and found my first rare! It's a helmet that increases my melee speed, decreases my grenade cool down and gives me more of the "super bar" for each kill. More Nova Bombs for all! :D

I'm now super addicted to leveling up my weapons too. The leveled up sights on some of the guns are incredible. I've also just discovered the joy of using a hand cannon. They're stupidly powerful (in a fun way).

I really wish they would have let you

keep the Sword of Darkness. Having a melee weapon would be cool, Maybe they'll release a version of the Energy Sword from Halo has an easter egg :p

i feel like im getting really bored of destiny now, im lvl 21 and after you complete the story (i finished mine at lvl18) its just an endless grind of vanguard missions and bounties so you get high enough faction level with vanguard and get enough marks for the gear. unless you like crucible to theres absolutely nothing else to do well till your 26 and can raid. Destiny is just a purely average game and thats it. Its only got length cus of endless grinding. They were right though the game does change after lvl 20.... it gets ridiculously boring and monotonous

Well I'm back after vacation, and hoping to get to play some Destiny tonight. Reading over that last 5 or 6 pages, and I have some comments. So I might be bringing up "old" conversations, but here I go anyway...

No matchmaking for heroics/raids - I agree with Hawkman. The level of stupid behind not including matchmaking for raids or heroic strikes is beyond my comprehension. Actually, it makes me angry, because I will literally never see the raid content due to that design decision. Not including it for raids is dumb, and an artificial barrier for no good reason, but not including it for heroic strikes...when literally every other strike has matchmaking...is some kind of epic stupidity that they must be doing to purposely troll us. I simply cannot accept that Bungie, of all developers, is the one making awful decisions with matchmaking.

There are literally zero reasons for excluding matchmaking for these two modes, when literally everything about our guardians can be categorized, compared, and evaluated programmatically. Hell, even whether we have a mic plugged in or not is a logical test. And they're already reading doing it because you can see in the roster listing who has a mic or who doesn't be the little speaker icon next to their name. The only thing they would need to add in order to make matchmaking viable for heroics and raids is some kind of vote-kick system. That's it. The game already warns you when you join a matchmaking mode (crucible, strikes) so just keep that for heroics and raids. And this fits with the multiple tiered difficulties too. The "normal" version should be hard, but possible with a pug and the "hard" mode should be possible but unlikely, unless you really communicate and work together. Novel idea? No! Because there are already tiered difficulties for raids and heroics.

Just a stupid, stupid decision on Bungie's part. There is literally no supporting argument that makes sense.

Crucible balance - the crucible is absolutely NOT balanced between a 5 and a 20. Exotics, legendaries, and even some rares have special perks that give the player a complete advantage over someone using common or uncommon gear. True, the weapon damage, defense, and toughness is normalized but the extra abilities that a 20 or 26 has over a 5 and the specials on their gear creates a cluster-f of awfulness for low-level people.

That in addition to the fact that you don't (read: can't) earn crucible marks until level 18 is why it's clear that Bungie doesn't want you playing in the crucible until end-game. I don't see how you could argue otherwise. Sure it's possible, but it's not recommended.

what is that huge advantage?

what is that huge advantage?

Items that give you more resources, resilience, and more damage on top of the base statistics of armor/weapons

Also, not sure if this got posted but the Angry Joe review:

what is that huge advantage?

I mean, purely from a 5v20 perspective: double/triple jumps, different types of grenades, extra agility/recovery, extra shields (titans), invisibility, etc.

From an exotic weapon vs uncommon: everything about the weapon other than damage, specials like "every missed shot becomes another bullet in the magazine" or "radar is still active while zoomed" or "become invisible while zoomed", faster reloads, recharge grenades/melee faster, etc.

All of those things are not normalized, and provide a clear advantage. And those are the normal enhancements I could pull off the top of my head. There are some exotic weapons out there with crazy OP bonuses.

Weapon special abilities should have been stripped, too.

Legit question here, even though it is going to sound as if I am ###### on the game, which if the answer is Yes, then perhaps I am.

So I for the most part have been playing the game on my own. I am coming up on Level 10. Really am sticking to the campaign right now.

Do the campaign missions ever change from Go to Point, do something at Point, then fight off hordes of enemies and usually one "boss" enemy.

Seriously besides the optional Patrol missions which vary things up ever so slightly, that seems to be the extent of the campaign.

So is that all I have to look forward to?

If so, I believe my time with Destiny may be drawing to a close.

TIA,

DL

Guys I need more people to play raid. I have a few but want dedicated folks.

If you are 27+ level and want to do Raid add me on XBL Xbox one - Bozzified.

We have completed the raid last week but we want to do it this week. I have the save at the last boss sections as fireteam leader this week so it should be fairly easy to do. There is a strategy and all.. We usually finish the last boss in 30-40 mins with a failure or two.

If you want me to get you into my favs, add me as a friend and shoot me a message With Neowin greeting so i know you are from here.

Been farming the loot cave on earth.  Gone a lot of blues and a few purples.  Tried to level points to get legendary armor but players suck.  Meh...maybe I will get enough blue engrams and they will turn out to be legendary/purples.

If anyone has not farmed the cave, pretty cool.  Stand back and keep shooting the enemies at the cave.  They keep spawning and coming out and in about 30-45 minutes, I got ton of green items (salvage to craft materials you will need) and about 15 blues.  Out of those blues, 2 legendary items.  Basically when you decode the engrams, you get a special package when you level your engram skill.  There is normally several people shooting the enemies at the cave and everyone gets loot.

Farmed mars for relic iron for a few. Have a couple full stacks.  Chests respawn and is an easy run.  Basically 4 chests every 3 minutes.  Can contain blues, greens, relic iron, glimmer.  But if you are looking for the most loot, then do the cave.

Nope, that's pretty much all there is.

    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know The ONLY thing I need to know is the price, which I know will be way higher than I (and most people) are willing to pay for a phone... so basically nothing here I need to know. PS: Nice job getting that Apple reference to a non-existent and unrevealed product as "competition" in there. Cheque is in the mail.
    • Well I really think the repasting helped if your higher clocks have returned, maybe the next thing to look at is if there is a problem with your case airflow? I guess this because your 3080 has returned to optimal state, but is still staying too warm, which might suggest it was thermal throttling before you repasted, of which the only logical conclusion could be outside factors.
    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know by Hamid Ganji Galaxy Z Fold 7 - Image via Samsung The next generation of Samsung foldables is set to be unveiled next month at the second Unpacked event of the year. Samsung’s 2026 foldables are not expected to offer significant upgrades over their predecessors, with the Korean firm instead focusing on design refinements and conventional upgrades such as faster processors and better cameras. However, Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil an all-new passport-style foldable this year to rival Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut this September. Here’s a roundup of everything we know about Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices ahead of their official debut. When can we expect Samsung’s new foldables? The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 series were unveiled in July, and Samsung is expected to maintain this timeframe in 2026. Based on previous reports from Korean sources, Samsung will hold its Unpacked event on July 22 in London, UK, to pull back the curtain on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The devices are also expected to hit the shelves a few weeks after launch. However, Samsung has yet to announce an official date. A new naming scheme? One of the most interesting changes we might see this year is a new naming scheme for Samsung’s latest foldables. SamMobile reported that since Samsung is expected to unveil three foldables this year, it has adopted a new naming strategy to simplify product identification for customers. Accordingly, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and will serve as the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. The “Ultra” suffix suggests the phone could feature higher-end specifications, such as additional rear camera modules. Samsung’s new passport-style foldable is expected to carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name without any suffix. This model is reportedly equipped with two rear cameras. No major changes are expected for the Flip model. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 anticipated specs Rumors over the past few months suggest Samsung is preparing several upgrades for its upcoming foldables, although the devices may continue to rely on larger batteries and faster charging speeds rather than dramatic design changes. The primary focus this year is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its wide-screen design. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here are the anticipated specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra based on previous leaks: 6.5-inch outer display and 8-inch inner display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,600 nits peak brightness Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage 4.1mm thickness when unfolded and a weight of 210g 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 10MP or 12MP telephoto camera, 10MP cover camera, and 10MP selfie camera 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 As for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the device is not expected to be a major departure from its predecessor, although it could become slightly slimmer. Expected specifications include: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Exynos 2600 processor 12GB of RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner dispaly and 4.1-inch Super AMOLED outer dispaly 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 Samsung’s foldables are also expected to launch with Gemini Intelligence, Google’s AI suite for automating tasks in Android ecosystem. Moreover, given current memory and component costs, some Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 variants could see a price hike. Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopts a wide-screen design The centerpiece of the upcoming Unpacked event could be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, previously rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. This model adopts a passport-style form factor and is expected to compete directly with Apple’s iPhone Fold. Galaxy Z Fold 8 official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here’s what to expect: 7.6-inch primary OLED display and 5.4-inch cover display, 120Hz refresh rate, 2,600 nits peak brightness, and 4:3 aspect ratio Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage options 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired charging 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera Android 17 and One UI 9 The three new foldable phones are unlikely to be the only devices unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event. The company is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series.
