Yea, I have sold armor I found on my warlock for a class I dont have.  So been thinking of salvaging that.  Probably wont get much shards out of it tho but at least it is something.  Sucks is you can only get 100 vanguard points a week so buying legendary armor for the shards, wont help to much,

Legendary armor gives 2 shards a piece. I broke down an exotic helm this morning, 3 shards for that. If you have some Motes of Light you can get the exotic helm engram from Xur. If it decodes to your class and you want it, keep it. If not break it down. To me, it's like trading Motes for Shards (which they should probably add).

It's certainly not the best way, but a few extra shards here and there should add up. Besides, I don't have anything else to spend the points on :p

I still ahve to get my legendary helmet and a weapon or two unless I find one.  Other than that, I dont have anything else.

So much for everybody ditched the game after a first week

Destiny racks up an average of 3.2 million players per day

compared to the amount of sales, that is everyone ditched it.

Einstein taught us about that, relativity.

Yeah given their revenue figures it would seem safe to say they e sold upwards of 10 million copies if not more. How many of those 3.2 are going to jump ship during the holiday season when other great games come out? I bet we don't get another update.

That being said, 3.2 million is damn impressive.

Figures I saw something around 5 million copies sold, given that this isn't always going to be the same 3.2 million people and over half still playing as an average after games like Drive Club and Forza Horizon are now out I don't think it's doing too bad,

Of course people are going to move on to newer games when they come out but that's just normal.

5 million hardly gets to the $500 million in a day revenue figure they touted, unless you don't think they sold through most of it.

I think the 500 million was to retailers not to actual customers.

I think 5 million was on one platform.

Ah really? I must have done my usual and skim read the article as I didn't pick up on that,

Yes, hence my question as to how well you think they sold through. Your guess is as good as mine, but I'm betting that, especially by now, retailers have sold through most of that.

Well every article I see says it sold to consumers $325 Million (this was back in Sept) which when you estimate a copy of the game retails for what, $60? That would put it at around 5.4million copies of the game.

I have to admit HawkMan, I see no reference to this being on any one platform and seems to be across all platforms.

I thought you had to be level 26 to do the vault of glass raid, but I'm level 23 and can start that mission? It says that the difficulty is very hard however...

I thought you could only go 2 levels above your current level but perhaps I'm wrong but its certainly possible to go higher. Enemies will receive less damage than normal though so things you could one shot will suddenly require two or three shots.

I also think they may do more damage against you but I don't know that for sure, just more of a gut feeling when I've tried it. Given how difficult the VoG is supposed to be, I wouldn't suggest you try it.

Yeah I thought that too, which is why I was surprised to be able to to even start the mission.

My co-op partner is a warlock. Would a titan be a better choice to go alongside? I'm currently a hunter and we seem to be quite squishy sometimes.

The hunter is fun though, not sure how "fun" a titan is. Warlock looks a blast, but its better us being different classes.

Just bought it for PS3 after playing it at a friend's house on his XBox 360.  Decided I liked it, kind of reminded me of Mass Effect, or what might happen if World of Warcraft and Halo had a baby.  First it downloaded a free DLC that it prompted me for called "Compatibility Pack 1" that's 170 MB in size.  Anybody know what that is?  Now it's installing the game/updates to the hard drive.  I noticed this on the case for the PS3/PS4 versions when I picked it up.

That's pretty impressive. I soloed The Devil's Lair heroic strike, but that's one of the easier strikes overall.

Not to impressive.  The far platform, you can hide under and hardly every get hit.  Just keep doing headshots on the priest.  I am a warlock so I can res myself if I die.  So that is helpful as well.

I do carry around an epic sniper rifle that I use on a lot of the strikes.  I snipe (headshots) the tough enemies from a distance.  6 bullet clip in the rifle and normally just 6 shots takes care of most tougher enemies...like ultras/captains.  The epic rifle regenerates its ammo so I dont ever have to pick any up.

I finally got all legendary armor and weapons.  Now is tha PITA part of upgrading everything.  I have 40 ascendant energy but the shards are a PITA to get.

not really sure what the compatibility pack is, I have it for the PS3 (since launch) and i dont remember seeing that .

Also made it to 28 yesterday now i just need 28 more Ascendant Shards and i will be 29 (wont make it to 30 due to not being able to run the raid, i dont have friends)

Opinions I have seen so far is that the Hunter Class is possibly one of the worst, I've not played it but a friend who does isn't much of a fan. I'm a Titan and the Defender sub class is pretty useful when it comes to some of the harder levels. being able to pop a protective shield is very handy when things get a little messy. It's also quite useful for revives, just run over and pop it so that you can revive a fallen guardian without the worry of ending up with two people down.

If you are looking for help, or just want to play/goof around.  PM me.  I am always looking for people to play with.

Warlock is handy as well.  There is a skill where you can res yourself if you die.  Saved the team I was in several times.  Everyone else died after me, and I resed myself without having to start the area over.

Shield for the titan is great to.  Been in teams where they use the shield a lot and they also drop energy balls as well I believe.  But I have been in teams where titans just do not use any shields.  Kind of annoying.

I've been trying to level up the Striker Sub class recently but whenever we do a strike I tend to switch back to defender just in case. I have to admit I tend to try and save my shield till we really need it rather than popping it at random. It does drop 2 orbs when generated and there is a perk that means it can produce more, the more the enemies shoot at it as well as giving a damage or shield buff :)

I am trying to level voidwalker (sun singer is maxed) on my warlock . Same problem.  Is witch to sunsinger a lot since I dont have many I know to play with and Sunsinger is much better for solo.  I get 2 grenandes, able to res myself, and more.  So voidwalker will take a while.  I normally switch to voidwalker when farming for materials or if I am in a good group to get that skill leveled.

I save my res a well until it is needed.  If I use my super power, my grenandes regenerate quickly. I can normally toss out 6 grenades by the time it runs out.  But if I use my res, I need my super power fully charged.  So I tend to save it in tough situations incase I need to.

Wish they would make the weekly strikes like the normal ones.  Pool from a group first and if no matches, start single.  I want to do the weeklys on lvl 28 but its a PITA alone.  More loot if a team goes.

On which console? We're always looking for someone to make fun of.......... I mean, we're always recruiting for the raid, we're usually in and out in an hour normal, trying to get hard mode done..

    • EA launches in-game advertising platform for brands to "connect with audiences" by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The gaming giant Electronic Arts is exploring more ways to inject real-life brands into its games. Announced today as EA Advertising, the new platform is attempting to make it easier for brands to reach out for deals with the company and put their products inside titles like EA Sports FC, Madden, NHL, Skate, or The Sims. EA revealed that its EA Sports side of the company brings in "hundreds of millions of players across console, PC, and mobile" every year. Fan engagement of these titles was also touted as being "extraordinary," with 23,000 NFL seasons worth of games being played in Madden NFL daily, while EA Sports FC sees over a billion matches a day. “Players come to EA’s games and live experiences every day to play, watch, create and connect,” said David Tinson, Chief Experiences Officer at Electronic Arts. “That gives brands a meaningful opportunity to show up in ways that add value and respect the player experience, while maintaining authenticity in the worlds our teams are building. With EA Advertising, we’re helping brands become part of those moments in ways that are relevant and built for players.” Using the new program EA Advertising, brands will be able to inject their products into games in real-time via dynamic placement. EA says partners will have access to everything from stadium signage in sports games and targeted adverts to in-game content custom-made for the brands. These are described as additions designed to "enhance, not disrupt" experiences. "In these interactive gameplay environments, brands become part of the game itself, reflecting how players engage with advertising in real-world contexts," adds the company "Brands can activate across live environments, tailoring placements to meet campaign objectives, and update campaigns with ongoing optimization informed by aggregated engagement insights." Current real-world brand partnerships EA has built into its games include Visa (EA Sports FC and College Football), Lowe's (EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, and College Football), Red Bull (EA SPORTS FC), Xfinity and Peacock (EA SPORTS FC), and Mountain Dew’s (College Football).

    • UK to ban under-16s from social media following a six-week trial with teenagers by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels A few months ago, Neowin reported that the UK was trialing a social media ban with 300 teenagers for six weeks, that testing has come to an end, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that the country will ban under-16s from social media. Starmer said that this technology is making children unhappy and making it easier for bullies to harass and abuse them. He continued to talk about the addictive nature of social media, saying that it uses an infinite scroll designed to lock users in for hours. He said this interferes with children doing their homework, reading, playing with friends outside, and going to bed on time. Tackling the idea that nothing can be done about social media, Starmer said: The government’s action won’t stop at social media either, the PM said. It plans to take action on gaming services and livestreaming platforms. Right now, he said, strangers can contact any child unchecked. He said this wouldn’t happen in real life, and the government is going to stop it from happening online, too. The Labour government has overseen the introduction of the Online Safety Act, a big change to the internet which includes age verification on adult websites. This has led to a fair bit of backlash, but overall, the government is pushing ahead with these changes.
