WZOR Talks About Windows (Codename) 9, Is a DP Imminent?

Recommended Posts

From my understanding, Microsoft has realized that Windows 8 brand is dead. They tried 8.1, didn't work. Update even less. And just like Vista Brand it never recovered from the early media and user bash.

I can see them releasing an Update 2 in 2 or 3 moths from now, with just some cumulative bug fixes and maybe a feature or two. But Windows 8.2? No, they are aiming for Windows 9 to revitalize the branding, just like Windows 7 did.

Windows 9 by the this time next year should be RTM or very close, there's no time and will for other small releases.

Heck we should be seeing Windows 9 beta even by the end of the year.

This is just my opinion :)

This indeed doesn't make any kind of sence. Why would Microsoft release 2 previews of 2 different operating systems with the same purpose in the same timeframe. Also, this would make that Windows 9 follow upon Windows 8.2/8.5/whatever, extremely quick...

Couldn't comment if this makes sense or not, just reporting on what I heard. :)

I doubt they'll split up the code base or the branding, what I think we'll get is just a touch specific SKU without the desktop and a desktop specific SKU with new menu and windowed metro apps with options in both to mix and match.

Windows RT should be gone as a brand though as they bring it and Windows Phone together into one.

That's kind of what I said and suggested in early 2012 in an editorial I wrote :P

That doesn't really fit in with the vision of a unified platform, separate S'KU's and versions without desktops just creates confusion, least of all how that would work on a device like the Surface Pro.  I think they will continue to evolve the single platform, likely along the lines they have been doing and they did to a small extent with office.  This will mean they won't skimp on the customisations / options like they did with the original windows 8 (not giving users the option of booting to desktop) and we will likely see more detection of when touch hardware is in use to scale the menus and buttons, like what they did with office.

So a touch-only version for "pure" tablets, and a hybrid that you can make more desktop or more Modern as it suits you? I'm generally against splitting the UI concepts up by form factor, but this version might work.

Though I'm not sure what purpose a touch-specific version would have. Even the RT limited desktop still has some value to it.  It still seems like unnecessary pigeonholing to me.

Don't worry, MS will figure it out, that's their problem, not ours. :)

The touch specific version without the desktop would be the OS that's both on phone and tablets, so it'd run the same universal apps and share more UI elements and overall be the same OS code wise.  That's what I think everyone expects as Windows RT isn't going to stick around as it is right now.   So a touch centric, no desktop OS for Phone and Tablets up to, say 8-9" and then a more option packed full x86 OS that can have the desktop as well (like we get now with x86 tablets) for 10" and bigger devices that has the same touch start screen UI as well that the other one does.   Finally you have the more desktop, non-touch centric option with the new menu and windowed store apps.  The key between those though is that users can pick if they want the new menu or the full start screen, that'd be the best way.

So really all we're talking about is taking basically WP and RT, putting them together for phones and mini-tablets and then full x86 Windows with the desktop for 10" devices and up, the version OEMs still pay licensing for btw as 9" and smaller screens is one of the requirements to get Windows at $0.

LOL, how is your broadband going? Another 3G download ......

uncle, TSYA - "Myths and legends born in 2014."

All friends
Ku!

I (uncle-TSYA) could not until today to comment on the events which caused a noise stories that happened to Alex K. (hereinafter AK) in March this year.

Any public speech and comments made by me, could adversely affect the course of history and the fate of the individual.
I could not afford that either comment in connection with emerging network false rumors and insinuations in my address at the time when proceedings are against a person whose case is not related to me personally or anyone else from my friends .

As said in such cases the proverb: "The Word of silver, but silence - gold."

I want to note that this story was originally drawn to the ears Wzor.net our foes.
History occurred with Alex K. in no way connected with the uncle-and Tsya WZor.net
But it directly negative impact on the fate of the project Wzor.net

A number of personal circumstances and this story forced me to take a number of radical solutions: Was suspended all public work projects were also frozen all contacts with internal information sources. All have gone into hiding ... It was all done to protect!

Further fate and forms of work will be determined Wzor.net closer to the fall of this year, I hope this time I can solve personal problems.
Contributions tweet and blog will soon resume.

and so, summarize the basic absurdity, and the rest will wither innuendo and fiction themselves

in particular, some English-speaking sources and behind them and Russian
argue that the alleged Alexey K. (hereinafter AK) Registrant Wzor.net in 2001 and so involved in his work ...

Alexey K. never had and has no relation to the domain Wzor.net its work and functioning, and the more he had no relation to his desk and support!

Indeed, the domain name was coined Wzor.net me te-uncle TSYA.
Yes, the domain was registered at my request in 2001, the other at the time lived in one of the Baltic countries, followed by the domain registrar changed several times.
At this time, the domain does not belong to me personally, there are trustees authorized to accompany him.
By the same principle, and other registered domain names associated with the uncle-TSYA.

The question arises: Wzor it?
No of course, Alex K. and WZor not be it could not :-)

Alas, I (uncle-TSYA) Alekseya.K know. only as a reader of his blog on virtualization that he was within the company Microsoft, his knowledge and experience to implement virtualization solutions are unique.
I personally do not know him, and I do not think he ever wants to meet me, especially in light of the events happened to him, and it's not real. Is it that you have to enroll in the Learning Center "Stars and C" and arrive in Moscow :)
But by itself, I wish all those concerned that this story has ended and quickly to Alex as soon as possible was in the circle of relatives and friends.
Personally, Alexei K. wish to write a very fascinating book on the basis of misadventures.
I am very much worried about this man because it is really high-class specialist and the stories of people who know him personally a great man and friend.

so who is Wzor?
recently his name was allegedly Ingvar "hot whether Estonian, or Finnish guy and can Latvian", and he can melancholic Carl or his name Savely, or maybe Dan Arthur, people even say that he or BillGeyts Ballmer, whether he lives in France, the Baltic States, Scandinavia, Bulgaria, or even in Russia, and maybe in the U.S.?
Write that it works in Nokia, Skype to Microsoft, Adobe, or maybe just on a construction site? ...
What's the difference who is WZor ....
many in the ru-board know him over the years, someone encounters on a daily basis, who comes to visit, have a beer or take a dip in the warm sea ...

WZor is a collective image behind which stand for many years, various people want to see it in Stockholm, Marseilles, but for God's sake, have it in Riga, as well as in Russia but all over the world ...

PS: do not need to invent anything and compose the whole story guys-Tsya available in the archives of py-boards

see you soon
yours,
uncle, TSYA

Edit:  Tks to @Super User who posted a well-translated version in MDL Forums

Information stated in *** is true! Only false thing is about the size of the update. 3 GB is size of a full Windows 8.1 Update 2 x86 or x64 distribution, not a size of the update.
As far as I know, update is almost finished, although I don?t have information about that?s new in it. (The other day I?ve saw a live build based on Windows 8.1 with a very interesting "Start" button, but the pictures I?ve taken with Nokia turned out to be bad quality, because environment wasn?t suitable for a photo shoot - the managers of company was running back and forth.)
It is known that all distributions will get Update 2 which will be delivered similarly as Windows 8.1 Update 1. Windows 8.1 Update 2 will be free for Windows 8.1 Update 1 users but users running Windows 8 will need new keys if they?ll try to do a clean install. Those who will buy computers preloaded with Windows 8.1 Update 2 is expected to get substantial discount when upgrading to Windows 9. It even may be free.
Those who are running Windows 8.0 will have two options. The first option is to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Update 1 for free and then do upgrade to Windows 8.1 Update 2. The second option is to purchase Windows 8.1 Update 2 from Windows Store.
At this time I cannot give an exact date of signing of the RTM. Although next week (23 - 27 June) a very significant event is planned inside Microsoft. I'm not sure what will happen, but most likely the first RTM-Escrow build will be signed off.
In fact, Microsoft has changed the internal procedure of accessing "builds shop". Now every employee within the company who applies for a test receives an "individual build", which is compiled automatically by a special internal local interface. In other words, now employees of test units have no free access to so-called distributions "files in bulk."
Internal policy changes affected access of remote offices and Microsoft?s representatives in other countries too. In particular, Chinese representative office now has limited access to the "build shop". I know this, because sanctions and restrictions affected Russian representatives too. An auditing of corporate sales is strengthened right now.
In fact, the most interesting things are going in China, where Microsoft executives are shocked by a series of decisions of the Chinese government. Timing of Windows 9 now depends on how these problems will be solved. Our sources say that Microsoft is panicking about the fate of Windows 9. It?s very likely, that Microsoft will release Windows 9 Enterprise Edition without integration of Microsoft?s cloud services and with the ability to disable "Metro 2.0" interface. This possibility is being actively discussed at Microsoft.

3GB Size is Mistake

2 Day ahead, This Autumn update will be like Spring (RTM-Escrow)

And most Important think about Win9 Without Cloud service?

Windows365 now Windows 9 To?  :p

Windows 365, Windows 8.1 Update (2/3), Windows Threshold, and Windows 9 are 4 different things.

I saw some reports said Windows Update 2 will be called Windows 8.2 - this is simply baloney. :)

Yes and no, it uses the same Windows core, it's like comparing Office 365 with Office, in Office 365 you basically download and install the same Office applications, right?

    • I work for a video production company in Australia. The camera operators shoot footage and then pass the SD card over to the editors. Much easier than handing over the entire camera. Plus, on a busy day you can hand off the SD card and then pop another in for the next shoot. Or, you might have used multiple SD cards because you need the extra space for a long shoot. I also use USB cables and wifi for transferring footage, but in many cases an SD card reader is the easiest method.

It keeps you safe online, protects your privacy, and lets you browse the web quickly. You can even use it on all your devices and keep your browsing history and favorites synced up. Built on the same technology as Chrome, Microsoft Edge has additional built-in features like Startup boost and Sleeping tabs, which boost your browsing experience with world class performance and speed that are optimized to work best with Windows. Microsoft Edge security and privacy features such as Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, Password Monitor, InPrivate search, and Kids Mode help keep you and your loved ones protected and secure online. Microsoft Edge has features to keep both you and your family protected. Enable content filters and access activity reports with your Microsoft Family Safety account and experience a kid-friendly web with Kids Mode. The new Microsoft Edge is now compatible with your favorite extensions, so it’s easy to personalize your browsing experience. Microsoft Edge 149.0.4022.52 changelog: Migration to improved V2 architecture for Workspaces. Workspaces, introduced in Edge in 2022, allows users to create durable sets of tabs that can be saved and shared with others. In order to improve reliability and performance of this feature, the following changes are being made: Migrating data for saved Workspaces from OneDrive/SharePoint to Edge Sync service Removing the collaboration/share functionality of this feature For organizations who have disabled Sync through policy, the existing v1 Workspace data will still be migrated to the new architecture. New v2 Workspaces created after migration won't sync across devices and will remain local to each device. This update occurs on a progressive rollout beginning in Edge Stable v145 and will continue rolling out in Edge v149. For more information, see Getting started with Microsoft Edge Workspaces. Feature Updates Passkey Sync for Enterprise Users. Microsoft Edge is introducing support for passkey synchronization for enterprise users, enabling secure, passwordless authentication across devices. Passkeys created in Edge can now be synced seamlessly, improving sign-in experience while maintaining strong security standards. Note: This is a controlled feature rollout. If you don't see this change, check back as we continue the rollout. Enterprise WebView2 runtime downgrade via DowngradeVersion policy. Administrators can temporarily roll back specific applications to a previous WebView2 Evergreen Runtime version (N-1 or N-2) using the new DowngradeVersion policy in msedgewebview2.admx. The Downgrade Version policy allows enterprises to mitigate critical regressions by specifying per-application exe-to-version mappings. The Edge Updater installs the target version side-by-side, and the WebView2 Loader redirects targeted apps accordingly. Downgrades auto-expire with each new WebView2 release: apps pinned to N-1 remain on the same version (now becoming N-2) and will auto-update in the next release, while apps pinned to N-2 will revert to the current Evergreen version. The policy applies only to enterprise-managed devices (domain-joined or MDM-enrolled). For more information, see Microsoft Edge WebView2 Policy Documentation | Microsoft Learn. Collections retirement. Collections has been removed in this update. Users can no longer access or use the feature. To keep saved content, users can export it, or move all pages to Favorites before updating to Microsoft Edge Stable 149. For more information, see Organize your ideas with Collections in Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Support. Modern, unified, and updated Look and Feel. Microsoft Edge has updated the Look and Feel to give customers a unified experience across all of Microsoft AI surfaces including Copilot and Bing. This changes multiple elements of the UX such as spacing, corners, fonts, default colors, etc. Clarify choices surrounding third-party cookie settings. Language under Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies are clarified to better describe the choices users have in managing third-party cookies. Custom primary password retirement. Users are no longer able to create a new custom primary password in Edge Settings edge://settings/autofill/passwords/settings. Any users who are still using a custom primary password will be automatically migrated to device authentication. Additionally, the PrimaryPasswordSetting policy will no longer support the WithCustomPrimaryPassword option. For more information, see Keep your saved passwords private in Microsoft Edge | Microsoft Support. Unifying Copilot Chat policy controls. The Microsoft365CopilotChatIconEnabled policy is the standard for configuring Copilot Chat. Previously, this behavior was controlled by blocking the Copilot extension, either explicitly or by using the * wildcard via the ExtensionSettings or ExtensionInstallBlockList policies. Extension and sidebar policies no longer affect the appearance or functionality of Copilot Chat. Copilot address bar suggestions were also tied to extension policy settings. Starting in Microsoft Edge version 149, admins can use the CopilotAddressBarSuggestionsEnabled policy to manage this behavior. Intune MAM Protected Downloads. • Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.2 by Razvan Serea Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC) is a free and open-source video and audio player for Windows. MPC-HC is based on the original Guliverkli project (which is no longer maintained) and contains many additional features and bug fixes. As the continuation of the original Media Player Classic, MPC-HC isn’t flashy but it works with nearly any media format. MPC-HC uses DXVA technology to pass decoding operations to your modern video card, enhancing your viewing experience. And MPC-HC supports both physical and software DVDs with menus, chapter navigation, and subtitles. Overview of features A lot of people seem to be unaware of some of the awesome features that have been added to MPC-HC in the past years. Here is a list of useful options and features that everyone should know about: Dark interface Menu > View > Dark Theme When using dark theme it is also possible to change the height of the seekbar and size of the toolbar buttons. Options > Advanced Video preview on the seekbar Options > Tweaks > Show preview on seek bar Adjust playback speed Menu > Play > Playback rate The buttons in the player that control playback rate take a 2x step by default. This can be customized to smaller values (like 10%): Options > Playback > Speed step Adjusting playback speed works best with the internal audio renderer. This also has automatic pitch correction. Options > Playback > Output > Audio Renderer MPC-HC can remember playback position, so you can resume from that point later Options > Player > History You can quickly seek through a video with Ctrl + Mouse Scrollwheel. You can jump to next/previous file in a folder by pressing PageUp/PageDown. You can perform automatic actions at end of file. For example to go to next file or close player. Options > Playback > After Playback (permanent setting) Menu > Play > After Playback (for current file only) A-B repeat - You can loop a segment of a video. Press [ and ] to set start and stop markers. You can rotate/flip/mirror/stretch/zoom the video Menu > View > Pan&Scan This is also easily done with hotkeys (see below). There are lots of keyboard hotkeys and mouse actions to control the player. They can be customized as well. Options > Player > Keys Tip: there is a search box above the table. You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites Put yt-dlp.exe or youtube-dl.exe in the MPC-HC installation folder. Then you can open website URLs in the player: Menu > File > Open File/URL You can even download those videos: Menu > File > Save a copy Tip: to be able to download in best quality with yt-dlp/youtube-dl, it is recommended to also put ffmpeg.exe in the MPC-HC folder. Several YDL configuration options are found here: Options > Advanced This includes an option to specify the location of the .exe in case you don't want to put it in MPC-HC folder. Play HDR video This requires using madVR or MPC Video Renderer. After installation these renderers can be selected here: Options > Playback > Output Ability to search for and download subtitles, either automatically or manually (press D): Options > Subtitles > Misc Besides all these (new) features, there have also been many bugfixes and internal improvements in the player in the past years that give better performance and stability. It also has updated internal codecs. Support was added for CUE sheets, WebVTT subtitles, etc. Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.2 changelog: Updated LAV Filters to version 0.81-23-g6fadb Updated MPC Video Renderer to version 0.10.2.2540 Updated MediaInfo DLL to version 26.05 Updated MPC Audio Renderer Several crash fixes, bug fixes and small improvements.
