so that's either alonso staying for the same pay or off to mclaren-honda.

however if the rumors of montezemolo out and brawn in at ferrari are any true, i expect alonso to stay where he is.

the latest rumor is that alonso refused the mclaren offer while vettel wants performance guarantees to be met in 2015 (top 3 in wcc) and will join them in 2016 on a 2 year deal.

looks like the champ is a brave one, i really expected alonso to jump ship but seems like he is not hungry ennough anymore.

Maybe, but Mclaren haven't had the pace nor reliability to really compete for a championship since Lewis won in 2008 so why would jumping to Mclaren workout? Not saying Ferrari have been any better but The Honda Engine is going to be a very 50/50 thing so sticking put would probably be the smaller risk.

hm what to make out of this?

@OfficialMinis 35m

There are 2 huge rumors now at the paddock: 1.- Montezemolo will leave Ferrari 2.- Alonso has signed with Mercedes

And the reason Rosberg didn't set a time...

Interesting, given that Rosberg has only just signed a new multi year deal that would have to be Hamilton out. I don't see Hamilton looking to leave this soon but if he does I can see him back at Mclaren rather than a swap and into Ferrari. I hope Hulkenberg gets a chance at Ferrari if Alonso does leave.

BBC have just had listened to a mini press conference with Montezemolo denying he is stepping down.

no monte step down? so that's the first rumor already nonsense. now i am expecting all drivers staying where they are. :rofl:

He's denied it today but the BBC were straight on to say that if he is to do it, they expected an announcement later in the year anyway.

Italian Grand Prix Qualifying:

And Ericsson's starting from the pit lane tomorrow: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2014/09/06/ericsson-start-pits-penalty/

Ericsson had qualified in last place but has been ordered to start from the pits after being penalised for driving too quickly past double waved yellow flags during final practice, Caterham confirmed.

Just to confirm;

Luca di Montezemolo has denied rumours he is thinking of stepping down as Ferrari president.

Over the Italian Grand Prix weekend, speculation over the future of the Ferrari boss intensified with suggestions that he might stand down as soon as next week. But on his annual trip to join the team for qualifying day at Monza, Montezemolo addressed the press to kill off the speculation and underline his commitment to Ferrari.

"I've heard a lot of rumours regarding myself," he said. "This is often happening in the summer in Italy, maybe this time is a little bit too much. I am working, I am here not to have a vacation, I am here because we are working very hard."

Montezemolo said he intends to see out a minimum of the next three years at Ferrari after making an agreement with the company's board earlier this year.

why is javascript disabled on neowin?

Still mad at him from the last race or did he do something again this time?

Not much; he went into the run-off at turn 1 twice, the latter of which was when Lewis took the lead.

I reckon the real Reject of the Race is Max Chilton...

Esteban Gutierrez has been given a post-race penalty after colliding with Romain Grosjean during the Italian Grand Prix.

Gutierrez clipped the Lotus on the main straight, suffering a punctured right-rear tyre. He eventually crossed the line in 19th place, two laps down.

The stewards handed him a 20-second penalty which dropped him to 20th places behind Marcus Ericsson.

According to the stewards Sauber had offered a mitigating factor for the collision. ?The stewards accepted the explanation of the team that car 21 [Gutierrez] was experiencing brake problems,? they said in a statement.

Team principal Monisha Kaltenborn described the collision as ?unnecessary?.

Rather surprising rookie level mistakes from Rosberg today, I think the pressure of the current situation might be starting to tell on him. I believe Hamilton might well have had enough in hand to get past anyway but when you're fighting for a championship making it especially easy for your opponent is inexcusably poor. That said the driving was relatively clean and I'm sure the team will be happy that the PR storm they were in is starting to steady out.

Also, the racecraft of Daniel Ricciardo is very impressive, he made the people he overtook today look silly. Might be a future champion if Red Bull give him the treatment they denied Mark Webber.

Seems I was wrong about Mercedes being out of the media scramble, Toto Wolff had to deny smiling when Rosberg had his accident which frankly is completely absurd

    • Right, Google... because that's who this is going to. Google, the company who's entire business model is geared around ad revenue and your personal data.
    • That is the natural course for regulations. First to protect the consumer. Then to protect the business/industry from upstart competition. There are countless examples across history.
    • I have never been a huge fan of libre, it feels really good but exactly when you need an advance feature for data wrangling it falls short every time or has bugs. I am all for euro office if they can deliver a good and usable alternative to MS office with backing of govt function.
    • Go on, I'll bite. How does windows (nice comment on an 'article' which doesn't actually involve it ) lock users out of their data then? Been using it since 3.1 back in 92 and not once have I been locked out of my data? Perhaps you mean Bitlocker? In which case the average user (who doesn't mess about) will have been forced to use a MSA, and in which case the recovery key would have been saved to said account..... If the user did happen to bodge around and not use an MSA then Bitlocker wouldn't have become live (as it cannot without a safe place to store the key) I want to point out Bitlocker and MSA are not connected and you can of course force it on without a safe place to store the key, but you do that with your eyes open. So your standard consumer who knows no better sets up an MSA, gets bitlocker and a recovery key stored off box, with a route to reset their password. All of this notwithstanding the fact, if your data is important, you back it up, no ifs, no buts, no-ones responsibility other than your own. Important data lives in at least two locations, one of which is offline and recovery is tested, otherwise that data wasn't really that important. Disks, fail, laptops get lost, phones end up down the toilet, tablets get stolen, if your only copy of data is on a single device you're doing it wrong.
    • Clearly that feature isn't for us. It's for the ad spam marketers so they can more directly target us about going to places we might want to go again...but without understanding context clues. Like for the flight someone took for a friend's funeral. We want to be reminded of that every time we open an app, a browser, or email, right? Right, Siri?
