Typhoon poses threat to Japanese Grand Prix

A typhoon over the Pacific Ocean has the potential to turn Sunday's grand prix into a washout if its path continues towards Japan.

Typhoon Phanfone is forecasted to pass south of Suzuka although the rain bands on its northern edge could affect Sunday's race by causing heavy rain and high winds. The FIA is monitoring the weather system ahead of the weekend but there is no precedent for a race cancelled due to weather.

any comments to the supposed alonso-mclaren deal? i think there is a quite a mclaren bias here in the forums and alonso seems to be rated extremely high as well, just looking at the polls from latest years.

i think it's awesome news if true, and it seems to happen. all i can say is welcome home nando!

It'd be amazing to see Alonso back at Mclaren, I'd be surprised too. Alonso seems to be denying the discussion at the moment though.

I just wish for this weekend Kamui was in a competent car so we could see a repeat of 2012. There really is something special about the whole crowd chanting your name when you're stood on the podium.

:woot:  so redbull officially confirmed that vettel leaves them, and they will replace him with kvyat ... that means, and i don't expect any mercedes driver to leave that dominant car, that alonso basically can just go to mclaren-honda. :D

hm there is this rumor in the autosport forums now that mercedes won't renew with hamilton after 2015, so alo might sit out next year and then join mercedes. but i am very sceptical about this. opinions can change quickly and maybe mercedes will think differently in 2015. i'd rather see and hope alonso will join mclaren honda.

Jean-Eric Vergne has become the second driver this weekend to collect a grid penalty for an engine change.

Vergne joins Pastor Maldonado in receiving a ten-place grid penalty having moved onto his sixth different internal combustion engine.

Team mate Daniil Kvyat had the same penalty at Monza. All three are Renault engine users.

Vergne, who had qualified 11th, will now start 21st alongside Maldonado on the back row of the grid.

It is the latest in a series of setbacks for Vergne this weekend. ?I didn?t drive FP1, I had two technical issues in FP2 which shortened my running time, I could complete only 3 laps in FP3 this morning,? he said.

?The race is tomorrow and anything can happen, even starting from the back of the grid,? he added.

Red flag after two laps behind the safety car (just to award half points, as per FIA rules); I highly doubt we're getting a race today.

Terrible end to a terrible race.

nothing more to say. for years i said that f1 should do what indycar does and only race in the dry. these cars are not made to race in the wet, simple as that.

hope bianchi makes it through.

Thoughts are with Bianchi, but to say F1 shouldn't race in the wet is simply stupid.,

Agreed. However, I think the safety car should've been deployed the second Sutil's car hit the tyre barrier. It's an obvious run off area that is going to be used when it's wet like that.

I don't think they should race in the dry either. Too many accidents occur that way. The cars are simply not made to race in the dry. /s

Seriously though, that's a dumb comment. Accidents occur whether wet or dry, day or night. It happens and when it happens, we can't always just ban or stop doing it. Motorsport (in fact, all sports) is full of risks and the drivers, teams, spectators are fully aware of this, take the necessary precautions but sometimes, someone gets unlucky.

that's utter nonsense and you know it. in the dry the tires are right, the brake temperatures are fine, the tire temperatures are fine, ride hight is save, and so on. and ofc you see much better and you can react way faster.

    • KillerPDF 1.4.2 by Razvan Serea KillerPDF is a lightweight, portable PDF editor for Windows built for users who want full control without subscriptions, installers, or telemetry. It runs as a single executable, making it ideal for USB use and field work. You can view PDFs with smooth PDFium rendering, navigate quickly with thumbnails, zoom, and shortcuts, and reorganize pages using drag-and-drop. It supports merging multiple PDFs, splitting documents, and extracting selected pages. KillerPDF also allows inline text editing with font matching to preserve the original layout, plus annotations like text boxes, freehand drawing, highlights, and reusable signatures. You can search full text, copy content easily, and print documents with flattened annotations. Designed as a free and open alternative to bloated PDF tools, it works fully offline on Windows 10/11 x64. No runtimes install. Everything needed is inside the EXE (targets .NET Framework 4.8, which ships with every supported Windows release). KillerPDF key features: High-quality PDF rendering via PDFium Edit PDF text inline (double-click to modify text) Page thumbnails and fast navigation with zoom and shortcuts Merge multiple PDFs into one Split PDFs and extract selected pages Drag-and-drop page reordering Font matching to preserve original document appearance Text boxes for notes Freehand drawing tools Highlight overlays with adjustable color, size, opacity Undo actions and clear per-page annotations Create, draw, and save reusable signatures Click-to-place signatures anywhere Full-text search with highlighted results Drag-select or Ctrl+A to copy text Print with annotations flattened Portable single-file app (~10 MB) No installer, no admin rights required No account, no telemetry KillerPDF 1.4.2 changelog: What's new PDF form filling. Interactive PDF forms now render their fields (text inputs, checkboxes, radio buttons) as live controls. Fill them in directly and save — field values are written back into the PDF. PDF outline (bookmark) navigation. A new OUTLINES tab in the sidebar displays the document's bookmark tree. Click any entry to jump to that page. The sidebar auto-fits its width to the longest entry on open and can be dragged wider; switching back to PAGES snaps to the pages-mode width. Fixed Page rotation no longer reverts after saving. Rotations applied via the sidebar context menu now persist correctly through the save pipeline. Copied text words were out of order on PDFs where glyphs are stored in non-reading order (Issue #66). Text extraction now sorts words by position and uses a dynamic line-grouping threshold so both drag-select and Select All produce correctly ordered output. PDFs with malformed or non-standard XRef tables now open in read-only mode instead of showing "Invalid entry in XRef table" and failing entirely. • The very fact that a TPM (v2.0 specifically which is part of the issue I suspect) is now a baseline for any supported Windows installation will naturally mean other vendors will start to leverage it as they know it'll be there. It's called progress, and it's always been the way. A TPM isn't a windows thing, it's just a module designed to securely store keys. Secure boot isn't a Windows thing (although MS are the TCA as I recall hence the upheaval this year as the 2011 certs expire), it's just a way to verify a bootloader is signed. Windows simply leverages them.
    • It's a local account with the ability to reset a password at a very base level. I really don't get the issue that gets whipped up around it But you do you
