Supergirl (TV Series)

Probably because it isn't 1993 anymore..... No doubt the computer you're using is also very different than 22 years ago

Back in the 90s I never thought I would have an 8 core machine. I remember in 1999 IBM was working on a dual core CPU and they were having all kinds of issues because it was getting way too hot...LOL....LOL.

I predict they will ax it sooner than later:

Now...Don't get me wrong...I would love for this show to be successful. I kinda like the chic. She's cute and she's not doing a bad job, but this show should be in Syndication not CBS. It has a better chance to make it on the Sci-Fi channel or USA Network than it does on CBS. If it gets cancelled (which looks inevitable the way the ratings are going), I hope Sci-Fi, CW or USA grabs it.

I'd like to see Netflix pick it up if it gets cancelled, like they did Longmire, The Killing, and Arrested Development.

If anything it would probably go to the CW channel if CBS cans it.

I somewhat agree with you. While the 3rd episode did pick up the pace from the slow 2nd one, I have a feeling now that Kara is out to prove herself and stand alone,

I agree. She's learning her powers, and soon enough she'll be the tough, confident, sexy, strong heroine who won't take any crap from baddies. The kind of woman that turns me on :) Melissa is amazing in the costume, she's a sweetheart, if she can pull both the sweet and tough egos off she'll be as perfect as I feel she can be.

As for the love triangle stuff, how many guys here can honestly say they wouldn't be doing all they can to get into trouble to have Supergirl rescue them if she really existed? I for one would be front of the queue jumping off a bridge to have her swoop me up! Jimmy Olsen needs to go though, and Calista. Get rid of the cheese, SG will turn itself around tenfold.

Human for a Day next week after a massive heat vision blast at Red Tornado, just like Superman after he uses his heat vision derived Super Flare - down for a day. Like a giant collection of solar supercapacitors, their cells are, and Kryptonians sometimes need to recharge.

Yes, its canon

Laura Vandervoort to Appear on Supergirl

Laura Vandervoort, the actress who played Kara Zor-El in Smallville, will appear in an upcoming episode of Supergirl as the villain Indigo, producers revealed today at the Television Critics Association.

The character will appear in the fifteenth episode of the show's first season, which will follow on the heels of what are expected to be two anticipated episodes.

Indigo is described by producers as "a living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way."

I don't like the fact they are using the crystalline FoS of the movies & Smallville -- I don't remember if the FoS ever appeared on Superboy -- when this Supergirl appears to come from the same technologically advanced Krypton like in the MoS movie.

Well, I'm surprised no one posted about this, but Supergirl is getting a season 2, and in the process it's moving from CBS over to the CW.  This means we're in for a good bit more crossovers going down, more flash and maybe some Arrow if they feel like it?

Supergirl retains Monday night spot following move CW.

Unlike its competitors, The CW has figured out a formula to make superhero shows work. In keeping up with audience demand for more superhero related content, The CW announced today that it will air Supergirl at 8 p.m. ET during its upcoming fall season.

Supergirl, which stars Melissa Benoit as the titular superhero, had its first season on CBS, but the network announced earlier this month that it wasn't going to renew the show. Instead, CBS moved Supergirl over to The CW, its sister network, where network president Les Moonves thought the show might fare better. The show suffered from poor ratings on CBS, even with the support from the network and a pretty good time slot (it also aired at 8 p.m. ET on CBS).

I could be wrong but I remember hearing it had something like 10-13million viewers?  If that's correct then how is that low ratings for CBS?

It started with almost 13 million viewers but then lost over half of them.

    • NASA: This asteroid may not kill us but it probably won't be far off either by Sayan Sen Image by Zelch Csaba via Pexels New observations by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope have eliminated the last remaining impact threat posed by asteroid 2024 YR4, ruling out the possibility that the near-Earth object could strike the Moon in December 2032. NASA said observations collected by Webb on February 18 and 26, 2026, enabled scientists to refine the asteroid's orbit enough to "rule out a chance of lunar impact on Dec. 22, 2032." Instead, asteroid 2024 YR4 is now expected to pass the Moon at a distance of about 13,200 miles (21,200 km). The agency stressed that the update "reflects improved precision in our understanding of where the asteroid is expected to be in 2032 rather than a shift in its orbital path." The announcement closes a remarkable chapter in planetary defence that began in late 2024, when the approximately 60-metre-wide asteroid briefly became the most closely watched near-Earth object in the world. Discovered on December 27, 2024, by the ATLAS telescope in Chile, 2024 YR4 initially appeared to have a small chance of colliding with Earth on December 22, 2032. As astronomers gathered more observations, the impact probability briefly climbed to around 3%—the highest ever recorded for an asteroid of its size—before steadily falling as its orbit became better understood. By early 2025, international observations had ruled out any significant risk to Earth. However, astronomers were left with another possibility: a roughly 4% chance that the asteroid could instead strike the Moon. "The probability that asteroid 2024 YR4 will strike the Moon on 22 December 2032 is now approximately 4%," the European Space Agency (ESA) had said last year, noting that "there is a 96% chance that the asteroid will not impact the Moon." ESA said such an impact, while unlikely, would have presented an extraordinary scientific opportunity. "It is a very rare event for an asteroid this large to impact the Moon – and it is rarer still that we know about it in advance. The impact would likely be visible from Earth, and so scientists will be very excited by the prospect of observing and analysing it," said Richard Moissl, Head of ESA's Planetary Defence Office. "It would certainly leave a new crater on the surface. However, we wouldn't be able to accurately predict in advance how much material would be thrown into space, or whether any would reach Earth," he added. The asteroid also exposed an important blind spot in planetary defence. Because 2024 YR4 approached Earth from the direction of the Sun, it remained hidden from ground-based telescopes until after its closest approach. "We looked into how Neomir would have performed in this situation, and the simulations surprised even us," Moissl said. "Neomir would have detected asteroid 2024 YR4 about a month earlier than ground-based telescopes did. This would have given astronomers more time to study the asteroid's trajectory and allowed them to much sooner rule out any chance of Earth impact in 2032." He added, "As an infrared telescope, like Webb, Neomir would have also immediately given us a much better estimate for the asteroid's size, which is very important for assessing the significance of the hazard." The latest NASA observations underscore the value of space-based infrared telescopes in tracking faint asteroids. According to NASA, Webb made "among the faintest ever observations of an asteroid," extending the object's observational record by nearly eight months at a time when it had become too faint for other telescopes. That additional data allowed scientists to eliminate the remaining uncertainty surrounding its 2032 flyby. Although asteroid 2024 YR4 is now confirmed to pose no threat to either Earth or the Moon, scientists say its discovery remains one of the most significant real-world tests of the international planetary defence system, demonstrating how continued observations can rapidly transform an object once considered hazardous into one whose future path is known with high confidence.
