man, i really dont get your peoples complaining. the only real problems i have read is people having troubles installing it. thats it. That and all there unofficial addons wont work. and how they cant remove the ads that are there.. like really people, you have soo many problems, you make a clone, and not just a clone one that supports ALL The features msn messenger has. With the webcam and other things like that support. i have only ever seen one come close, that being dmsn

im getting that error too

This seems to be a problem with the MSI (MicroSoft Installer) rather than messenger... There seems to be quite a lot of problems with it at the moment. Could be to do with them withdrawing the software off the main site?

I would wait till monday when the final release comes out before sending lots of angry emails to microsoft. Not that that is a good idea to do anyway :p

In the meantime, try saving the installer to a folder, if that still doesnt work try googling some of the various install errors and messages that you recieve while trying to install.

That's not what I mean :p

See attachment ;)

Understood. Sorry for the misconception. :( Anyway, I've got a solution or maybe two.

1. Go to Messenger main window. Tools > Group Offline Contacts Together (This way, you can have/retain your original groups)

2. Go to Messenger main window. Tools > Sort Contacts By > Online/Offiline (This is an alternative method, but you lose the groupings)

I guess that the above are the only default methods (ie. without installing any patches). If you do not think the above are suitable for you, do a search for utilities/patches for such a function (TIP: try mess.be first). Hope it helps  !

Cheers :D,

    • Along with that and very unfortunate for Linux, the AI boom/tariffs/global supply chain instability really destroyed any chances of it getting a decent chunk of market share. By all accounts, if a Steam Deck was still available for $399 (with tons of alternatives releasing at $500-$800 - instead of $1500+ now) and the Steam Machine was out there for $499, I think a lot of people WOULD have been willing to try SteamOS and switch away from Windows. But yeah, with the crazy jacked up prices now, people have to make safe bets with their money.
    • Neowin hasn't been covering the Ladybird browser but it has been posted about on a lot of tech and Linux/open source sites. I have been following the effort myself for almost a year now. Cloudflare and Proton are among their sponsors. You can read the why here--> https://ladybird.org/#about
    • That's really the user's problem, not the developers. It's not like the Windows 10 EOL was a surprise. Once a product goes out of support, you have to understand YOU are owning the risk of running it - the rest of the world will move on, maybe you'll be OK, maybe you'll be OK for a while, maybe you'll have an issue.... But you can't expect devs to write or certify software for dead operating systems.
    • Not mentioned in this blog post is that Linux has now dropped for 2 months in a row. At a hight of 5.33% in March, then 4.52% in April and now 3.99% in May. I suspect the end of Windows 10 got a bunch of people to try Linux, fueled by all the Microsoft hate, and rabid social media push of that....and now they are going back to Windows 11 because of the normal Linux issues. The vast majority of PC gamers want to use their computers to game and not trouble shoot why a game wont work, or half work.
    • do these change.org petitions ever do anything besides give people a place to complain?
