theres no setting to turn it off

but if your on r2c

goto profiles and edit meeting or one of the other ones and put all sounds as mute

it will mute shutter sound (sounds more like a clap)

but u have to putinto that profile if u want shutter sound to be silent

in new firmwares you cant even do that

its law i think

to stop people taking photos of things they shouldnt without people knowin

i understand the reason, but the sound is reeeaally annoying me. its not like digi cams make a noise, so why outlaw that.

Because you can tell if someone is trying to take a picture of someone with a camera but its not as easy to tell with a phone.

Strange, It works on my k700 and all the ones Ive used. Are you definately putting it to silent? Does the mute icon appear? Is your k700 branded, *possibly* the brander has messed it up.

It's all down to the firmware. Obviously the phones you have used have the older firmware, which was ridden with bugs in my experience. Newer FWs don't have the ability to disable the shutter noise, annoyingly.

It's not the battery's fault unfortunately, otherwise yes we'd be handing out new batteries to all our k700i customers.

You CAN have a firmware update, however, you'll need to go to an official service centre. Vodafone usually handle all official SE service updates, so if you can convince the bloke at your local VF Service Centre to upgrade your phone, then good luck ;)

Quick update.

I've just ordered a new fascia for my k700i, it's a black one, with the retaining screen area staying silver as it was originally. I'll post pics once i've fitted it... looks sweet by the preview :D

and ok so it's not official, but we'll see what the quality is like.
