[Definitive] Nintendo Wii Thread

Recommended Posts

EA Games, Ubisoft and Midway all pledge strong support for the Wii. Kojima developing for SSBB. Lots and lots of support for the wii is turning up in every corner. Expect big things to come :)

This could probably be a topic on it's own, but meh, someone else can do that.

While I can't say that same, I do feel the Wii has the potential to be the best console in a damn long time.

If they can cross the innovation of the DS, the vast support of the SNES, the quality of the N64 and SNES Games and the multiplayer fun of the N64, then the Wii is a surefire winner. I feel they can. They've already got the innovation bit down, and it looks like they're gather **** loads of support. Games like wario ware and mario party get the multiplayer fun right, and quality is always synonymous with Nintendo games.

I just can't wait for pre-order to come out.

I think the Wii has a lot of potential, Nintendo just needs to know how to play it off.

As for games; those like Zelda, Mario, Pokemon and Smash have a really big following. And now that they have added a new way to interact with these games, I'm sure it will atract even more.

Botom line: Wii is my console of choice

dunno how many of you have seen this thread, but I found it intresting.

nothing official... but gives you a feel for posible dates/price of the Wii

Early november/last ocober seems to be the rage, since a lot of games say they will be out by the 2nd week of nov.

Recent news on the Wii front from Laurent Fischer (EU marketing)

With Wii's release is just around the corner (or more like, just around this year's corner), Wii onlookers will be pleased with what Nintendo has to say. According to Laurent Fischer, head of sales and marketing of Nintendo Europe, "all various countries will have Wii released by the end of 2006". Yay.

This was release on the 13, but I haven't seen it around neowin.

just wanted to share ;)

Here's a photocopy of an internal memo sent around UK Virgin megastores. The memo details the use of 'Nintendo Wii Countdown Clocks' that will obviously ticker down to the official launch date/time of the wii console.

The memo also states that Nintendo will be contacting the aforementioned stores on the 14th August for installation of these timers.

Here's a list of the stores receiving the clocks:

Megastore

Piccadilly

Bluewater

Liverpool

Cribbs Causeway

Kings Road

Bournemouth

Leeds

Meadowhall

Birmingham

If anyone here in the UK lives close to these stores you might wanna go check them out tomorrow.

what you said is a little misleading.. the price is not official in anyway different to the prices we have for japan and usa. they will fall under a certain amount. a key quote just to add to that:

"The price has not been decided yet, but I expect it to be ... less than 250 euros."

  • 2 weeks later...

Ive taken a back see as far as wii is concerned. But recently after seeing some videos, namely this one.

My interest has certainly increased. My only problem is its name.

"Hi you got a console?" "Yup PS2"

"nice, and you?" "xbox 360, and yourself?

"nintendo wee".

Sorry nintendo but you must really sort that out!

In the above video, the games played look interesting how they use the controller but one of the games in the video Red Steel, looks pretty..bad. The graphics etc look like something you would play a few years ago. But then again its not finished yet.

I have high hopes for the "wee".

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
