First: OMG OMG OMG STEVEN HAS JUMPED SHIP!!!!! are you sure you dont need a :doctor: :p

Second: The Neo2 is the best agp socket 939 board. All socket 939 boards support dual core.

The latest single core cores are Venice and San Diego. Venice = 512k l2, and San Diego = 1mb l2. I would recommend the 3700+ San Diego, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103539. That plus the Neo2 will cost $441, which should leave room for shipping and tax (if applicable).

Good luck with your new toys ;)

$441.00

MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce3 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail 118.00

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3700BNBOX - Retail 323.00

What can I do with the other 59.00?

Get the remaining 512MB RAM to up it to 2 then ;)

not possible.. I have 2 x 512 and 2 x 256. You want me to throw away my 2x256 and get 2x512?

I don't even use the entire 1.5GB that I already have :p

Congrats

If you've decided to get the 3700+ (which I'm assuming you are), you're getting a fantastic chip :D I would have picked it up had it been avail when I was in upgrade-mode

Cheers and good luck... you'll be able to OC it to at least 2.7Ghz on air

EDIT 939 > 754 in this case (and IRC in all cases)

Check this out

The 939 will run much cooler than the 754... the 754 operates at 1.5v whereas the 939 operates at 135-140 V.

In addition, the 939 version has a Hypter Transport speed of 2000mhz whereas the 754 has 1600mhz.

939 Tech Specs

At the end of the day the 939 trumps the 754 by running cooler, over clocking higher, and allowing you to run 2GB of memory at DDR400
