The Official NDS Homebrew Thread

Sorry, I couldn't edit my above post, but Divineo doesn't have very good resell ratings? Has that changed?

Nope. Divineo is terrible. I had a very bad experience when I ordered from them. Winsunx is supposed to be pretty decent, but I have heard horror stories about them too. If shipping is not a problem for you, I would recommend ordering from either Kick Trading (who I have dealt with many times and has always been awesome) or Real Hot Stuff. I've heard of many people ordering fom Kicktrading that are overseas (kicktrading is in Canada) and they were all happy with the service and speed of delivery. I've heard nothing but good things about Real Hot Stuff too.

Hey people, Really loving this thread as I just purchased a brand new DS Lite for ?70:DD. I am looking into buying something for my DS to allow me to store roms on their so I don't have to carry loads of carts with me everywhere. Whats the cheapest way possible? I live in UK so would prefer a UK based site to buy the equipment from. I have read this thread but still confused on what exactly I need. Thanks in advance.

There are two basic options:

buy a slot 1 passme device AND a slot 1 rom loading device

There are many to choose from. There's a wide debate as to what is best. I personally use an EZ Pass 3 and the EZ Flash IV lite and am very happy with them.

OR

buy one of the few newer slot 1 only solutions.

(comparison chart here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=38183&st=0 )

Many of these options require you to also purchase some form of SD memory card that actually stores the data. Some have only built in storage space.

You're probably going to spend $120 minimum for the whole thing.

Good luck finding a UK site. Most of these are shipped from China. Maybe there's one, I don't know.

Provided you don't need GBA support, your cheapest and best bet is probably the Supercard Lite Rumble (AKA Micro SD). You can get it from a UK dealer here.

What would be a good card to get with my black lite? I was looking at the Max Media Dock ($40 with launcher and dock (CF cards) but ive only seen bad reviews about that. That is the easiest for me, and I would mostly only use videos and maybe a few roms. The only other I can think of is supercard lite rumble which comes out to $50 with a superkey.

I decided to just purchase a combo pack from eBay.co.uk - NDS Lite NDSL Supercard Lite + Superkey + Original Sandisk 512MB TF Card TransFlash Card + Card Reader 4 in 1 Kit

?60 Delivered, not bad really. Atleast I don't have to wait for seperate packages its all in one package:))

wow! one of my pens is scratching my screen!

i switched to another pen (the spare one that came with the system). but this is really sad! it made a deep scratch, too :| i was playing bomberman land touch (which is really good, btw), where you point where you want the guy to go akin to final fantasy 3 when i suddenly heard this scratch. made me REALLY sad :| wow...

what kinda screen protection do you guys have? how effective is it? i never thought i'd need it (afterall i'm using Nintendo's pen) but damn :(

If I was you see if you can contact Nintendo regarding this issue as it was there merchandise which has damaged your screen. Thats what im guessing though im not totally sure if they will accept that lol but its worth a try.

The MMD is terrible, don't waste your money on it. I've not heard of one person that has had any other flashcart before getting it, that got it and didn't hate it. Supercard Lite is a good option if you want something cheap. The M3 Lite is also an amazing cart.

I don't know what I seem to be doing wrong. I have a g6 and I fully download the rom and when I go tto play it on the nintendo ds lite it loads then goes to white screens or when loading the little circle thing just stops moving. What am I doing wrong? These roms are from bti torrent.

I've PM'd you the answer, as I don't want the thread to become a ROM discussion and get closed ;)

Hey peoples, I just bought a NDSL and I want to get into this whole Homebrew thang.

I have bought a Max Media Launcher for Nintendo DS from CodeJunkies and also a SuperCard Lite with a 2gb microsd card

http://www.bamboogaming.com/flash-cards/su...n-/prod_51.html

Is that a good choice? I just bought that stuff on the basis of what a tutorial said on a website which I can't quite remember now, lol!

So yeah, if anybody could PM me or something about helping me or anything, would be great!

Cheers!

The SC Lite is a great choice. Looks like you have everything you need to get started. Make sure you grab the latest patcher from here.

As for homebew stuff, everything you need is in the first post. A lot of the apps there are a bit outdated, but you should be able to find the newest versions fairly easily from those links. Enjoy, and if you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

DSOrganize is no longer being developed unfortunately and the developer took all the files off of his server. I would suggest signing up at the Unofficial Supercard Forums (link of the first page) and asking for it there.

Yep, 2.3 is the newest one, but that version that you liked to is for the DSLink. You want the Supercard version.

Beup is awesome. You'll want the version here.

Edit: Found you DSOrganize 2.3 for Supercard here. You'll want the blue version.

Just wondering how everyone got on with updating the firmware on their SuperCards to 1.70? I placed the .bin file on the root of my memory card then turned on my NDSL. Nothing happend it just booted into SC Menu as normal :( I tried atleast 10 times again, nothing.

Hi Guys...

Just bought a DS Lite  Best purchase I've made in a while!

Anyway, I'm looking to get into homebrew and currently the G6 Lite seems to be the best card to get, seeing as it comes in one complete package and apparently has very high compatibility with DS and GBA games. It also ships with a card reader so thats another big plus. One problem is that it has a built in memory of 512 MB. Are there many DS games that are bigger than 512 MB?

I've had a look at the M3 Lite as well, but does it require a superkey etc?

Please forgive my noobness, but could someone tell me what you need for each card, eg. do you need the card, a passkey, SD memory, SD reader? I have a feeling I may end up buying a a card and then realise I need a passkey for it, or realise it doesnt come with an SD reader.

Thanks guys..

ok got to get back to Advance Wars Dual Strike...

check the first topic in this post as it contains a massive amount of info... also mind the difference between 512MegaByte (like in half a gig) and 512MegaBit (like in 'i'll say it has 512MB coz that seems a lot bigger than 128Mb' )

congrats on your purchase... you'll love it to the point of caling it 'my preciousssss' ;)

    • Nice, hope they *finally* fixed the issue with the NTFS driver where the system would completely brick during large file copies using the built in driver. It's been broken for years requiring me to use the older, slower, NTFS-3G FUSE driver.
    • Windows 11 KB5094126 BSODing, freezing, forcing BitLocker lockout, breaks OneDrive, and more by Sayan Sen Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 last week as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. While Microsoft has so far not acknowledged any major problems with the release, some users online are running into problems. These range from OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. The most common one seems to be happening with HP systems wherein affected users say they hit 0xc0430001 BSOD (blue screen of death) error code after the KB5094126 update. We wonder if this could be related to the recent bug we covered on HP devices wherein the ongoing Secure Boot certificate updates are leading to similar issues. While we are not certain, users affected by this issue likely need to ensure that the boot.stl file is included on the installation media (such as a USB installer or ISO), if the above-mentioned dynamic updates are deployed. If this file is missing, computers may fail to boot from the installation media and could display the error 0xc0430001. This STL file is used by Secure Boot to verify that the boot files are trusted, so it must match the same Windows version and system architecture. To ensure the file is included, Microsoft recommends using the Update WinPE script, which automatically updates the image and handles the required files. Alternatively, you can manually copy the boot.stl file from the Windows\Boot\EFI folder on a Windows device and place it in the matching folder on your installation media before deploying the updated image. Aside from blue screening some users also note their systems have been freezing following the update. This could be happening to Lenovo PCs specifically. In the case of the OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, a user figured out that there could be a conflict with UAC. He explained: "Okay, so I did some digging, and in our environment KB5094126 breaks OneDrive and Dropbox in Explorer. I went through all our GPOs and found out that the combination of disabling UAC and having my user being a local admin breaks OneDrive in Explorer. ... If I enable UAC again, then it works, even with KB5094126 still installed." Hopefully, Microsoft will look into these issues. • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
