Ok, you don't understand what I am saying I am simply talking about new pictures taken from the flickr site that have been touched up with a progam that makes the build number text readable not the same ones that were posted in this topic. Thanks.

Um thats not what I'M talking about...?

Holy crap, I just wanted the same pictures posted orginally that were doctored by someone here in order to look better and readable not new pics posted by the same user.

LOL. Have you seen the resolution/blurriness of the originals?

This is probably a preview of RTM with vector glass and stuff, hehe, and theres a clock on the login screen, and it has aurora, and it really nice! :D

ok now wouldant this all be sweet if this was the real deal and RC1 and or RTM with vector glass the whole works. never know

another thing i noticed in the screenshots, on the sidebar, the slideshow pictures, it has BRAND NEW wallpaper that was recently added, 2 builds ago if i'm not mistakening. Though, still we dont see any min/max/close buttons.

edit: some other things i noticed, onthe start menu, right next to Control Panel, it says Help on the new builds, it says "Help and Support", furthermore there is no "Recent Items"

Also, in the new screenshots it looks almost certain that it has the new Vista cursors.

look this is windows vista.. why make they publicity for something like aero glass and drop it at rtm??

these shots are fakes

And you know this how? Just because they have something on their site now doesn't make it final. They had screenshots over at their MSDN site of Longhorn's Plex UI and now there's Aero. This could still be Aero Glass, just a tweaked version of it. That's not dropping it, just tweaking it.

I like his reasoning on why it could be legit and why it could be fake:

Reasons why I think they could be legit:

  • If it IS a hoax, it's a pretty elaborate one. IMO, the quality of certain elements seems too professional to be fake.
  • Microsoft has been hinting that there is still more to come in the UI department for quite a while now.
  • The gadgets in the sidebar are in the current builds (save for the Media Player one).
  • Some of the screenshots contain visual elements and styles that I've seen before but can't discuss further.
  • The "Documents" menu shows the real Office 2007 document icons.
  • I can't sharpen the pictures enough to read the text with certainty, but the built text in the corner appears to read: "Windows Vista ____ <new line> Evaluation Only. 570X_____________________"
  • I want them to be real (hey, that can be a reason, can't it?)

Reasons I think it they could be fake:

  • The person went through all this trouble to get these, and not ONE clear picture of a build number?
  • They COULD be pictures from a monitor, intentionally adjusted to appear to be projected onto a screen (the one on the end of the second row has weird banding)
  • There is absolutely no EXIF information in the file (not sure if flickr wipes this out on upload or not)
  • A lot of the training content for Vista has already been generated (including videos in the new Help section), and I don't know that MS would spring a brand new UI like this at the last minute.

more reasons why it can be fake:

* the feeds gadget looks closer to the older design (what's the second gadget in the shots anyway--the sidebar looks more like the original sidebar panel design)

* the windows logo on startup isn't in an orb

* the music folder is named 'media library', 'libraries' as a name has been dropped, and the window resembles the library explorer window designs in earlier prototypes

*

more reasons why it could be real:

* the control panel screenshots use icons that weren't put in the current builds until lately

It seems like the new screenshots are posted

Let's study this. It looks like a mix of Longhorn elements and Vista elements. Now, that's a major change which means that Microsoft was running two parallel projects Longhorn / Vista, and now they are merging it into one RC1....RTM build. The finally decided what to take from each and put it together. Afterall, all those years spend on Longhorn was not wasting the time. All the codes and things are kept, revised as well.

Second case is that the screenshots are fake, and whoever did those he should get a job, Microsoft should hire him.

It's really hard to tell, but there are few things which bother me....

Office Shortcuts, logon screen, and most of all the whole concept of START MENU!!!!!!!! It's something not really seen in Vista, neither in Longhorn.

If you closely pay attention on the picture 025, you will notice that on the right side on the start menu there are bunch of Office 2007 icons which means that the right pane lists all the shortcuts of the selected program in the start menu. On the left pane however; acts similar as a right but it explores only roots namely programs whose content is extended and previewed of on the right pane. Due this changes Mickey user name as well as an icon of what you're selecting is moved on the top of the left pane.

Next Picture 20, you can notice the icons not seen in Longhorn but in Vista - Control Panel

Next Picture 21, old good concept from Longhorn

Sidebar is strange mix of Longhorn and Vista concept....

guys, this is hilarious - cool it off already, these are FAKE!

first of all, does anyone notice the hideous camera angles at which some of these were taken? If I had time, I'd draw up diagrams on some of them in a 3d space to demonstrate that the camera was held at the strangest angles...

second, how come there aren't any window indicators in the taskbar on ANY of the open windows?

third, it is way too late in the game for MS to be chaning their UI so dramatically

fourth, in the pictures where the sidebar isn't active, the pre-release info is stretched all the way to the right of the screen; whenever you do see images of the sidebar active, the taskbar abruptly ends where the sidebar begins and most importantly the entire text is place shifted to the left of the sidebar

fifth, some shots clearly show scanlines in the monitor while others don't

sixth... alright already, this is FAKE!!!

BTW, about the whole Vector Glass nd destop aurora, i saw in one of the build 5700 threads bout someone sayin its not in there, its coming rtm nd probably no earlier.....

Is Microsoft keeping a dirty little secret??? :D

mmmm, if this is rtm, it makes me feel good, and it reminds me of the good old longhorn days!

This is honestly getting out of hand. Mass speculation is now upon us.

A lot of people don't like the Vista's theme....seeking for a change...

Oh we will see what RC1 is going to look like...for a few more days we will have the answers...

hmmm these are very intriguing to say the least! on the other hand speculation is rampant lol, I never saw so much craziness together hahaha, honestly I also believe these shots are fake, but then again I also wish they weren't :)

    • That is $130 more than I paid for my 4TB a year ago. How is this a deal?
    • JetBrains' new AI-first 'IDE' JetBrains Air is now on Windows by David Uzondu JetBrains has announced that JetBrains Air, its Agentic Development Environment (ADE) is now available for download on Windows x64 and ARM. You might not be familiar with JetBrains Air. It's this new desktop app that the company launched back in March 2026 to let developers hand off tasks to AI agents instead of writing every line manually. You can see it as more of an Agentic Development Environment (ADE) rather than a traditional Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The latter builds its features around a central text editor, while the former arranges everything around the AI agent itself. Here's how JetBrains describes it: Air was born from the ashes of Fleet, an experimental editor that the company quietly killed in December 2025 after realizing that competing directly with VS Code was a losing battle. The company repurposed Fleet's lightweight, modern architecture to build Air, transforming a basic code editor into a workspace for running multiple AI agents. When Air launched, it was only available for macOS. It wasn't until earlier this month that Linux users got a chance to play with the software. Now that Air is on Windows, you can do things like map out a complex feature in Plan mode and watch an AI write the implementation plan to a markdown file before writing any code. You can iterate on this plan, add references to specific classes or files, and choose whether to run the agent locally or inside an isolated Git worktree. Running agents in parallel means you can have Claude refactor a database schema in one branch while Codex writes tests in another, leaving you free to do other important things. You can even set up a pipeline where Claude writes the code, and Codex reviews it. At the moment, Air is free. If you have a JetBrains AI Pro or Ultimate subscription, you get full access to the built-in agents, though there's also the option to Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) to run APIs from Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google. If you're interested, here are the download links for both x64 and ARM64.
    • Depending how you’re wiring it internally, but try to put it inside conduit, that way in the future you can more easily replace cables, compared to running inside studs alone At least cat6a too
    • I bet Meta has lots of info on you anyway, gathered by other means. And Google, and Microsoft, and every other tech giant. If you use some form of modern electronic device, they own you already...
