Time for me to start praying :|

Does Neowin take financial donations .. say ?20 = -20%?

:huh:h:

I know you ment that as a joke. But I think it's one way to fine their members. This could probably help Neowin fiscal budget. And for those that does not want to pay, they can just wait 6 months. I think you just came up with a good suggestion there, snyper.

^^ well what if it wasn't a bribe. say someone had slipped up once, and payed to reduce their warning... but it got more and more if they offended again? and after a couple times they couldn't pay it off. that would be good business. =D

I was just wondering - how can a moderator find out if a single account is a duplicate account apart from looking at identical birthdates, identical name and the registered email.

Tracking is usually easy. I used to do it for a living when I worked for an interactive web site. (95% get caught quickly, the other 5% are a nightmare)

While it is possible to maintain duplicate accounts and never get traced back, it's pretty hard to keep it up for long periods of time. At some point the duplicate does something to link themselves back to the original account. I have to say, it was very interesting to see who was linked to who. I could write a book on the subject.

Warnings do not exist on Neowin as a money making tool. We use it as a measure to try and encourage users to put their behaviour back on track. Charging to have warnings reduced goes against what they exist for. Having it on your account for 6 months gives you a nice reminder not to slip up again.

but then the rich and the poor have the same rights! surely you jest!

In my situation, that's a pretty good joke and I'll even consider this a birthday present.

    • I have disabled it, but the app is still taking space. I have a Mac and it is only possible to disable Ai on that, but I think that bit does get rid of the AI components after a while. What we are told is that we agree to all this when we use the devices as it is in the end user agreements, their software, they can do what they like. I doubt that any bill will happen in the U.S, the government there are in league with big tech firms. The E.U maybe, they seem to have some guts when it comes to tech companies. The U.K is not in the E.U, but some things still affect us. Our government is as gutless when it comes to tech companies as the U.s government.
