Mac OS X 'Leopard'-related Discussion

I just hope for now, that the new 10.4.9 will fix the slow airport speed problem on Core2Duo iMacs with "n" capable airport cards, while connected in "g" mode....

It's so frustrating to have an airport connection that cannot go above 400 Kb/s of network speed....

(10.3.9 came after 10.4 was released iirc.)

Are you sure about that? I remember using Mac OS X 10.3.9 for a few days before switching to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, and I did that virtually the same day it hit GM.

10.3.9 was a crazy update, it like doubled the responsiveness of the OS. Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger on the other hand was extremely buggy, and compared to 10.3.8 it still is. I don't understand why "Duplicate" doesn't work when selecting a drive and for some reason Mail's main window still won't hide at login when telling it to in System Preferences.

Anyone have the issue of when you click 'Show bluetooth status in menu bar' and it does nothing, you close the bluetooth preferences and nothing appears in the toolbar, open it back up, its suddenly unticked itself. This only happens when its been unticked for a while, couple of reboots etc, well for me anyway...

I want to buy a macbook and I think I should wait, cause Apple does not offer you a free upgrade like when you buy a windows xp laptop couple months before the release of Vista.

microsoft did that for being 2 years late and taking out feqtures otu of their OS, it was their apology

I can reproduce that (Core 2 Duo iMac). So it's not just you.

Apple does something similar, but only once they announce the official release date of the OS, usually it's only good for a few weeks before the release of the OS. Remember that the official release date of Vista was announced by Microsoft several months ahead of time while Apple makes their announcements only weeks or days ahead of release. Also, those "free" Vista upgrades are promotions run by the computer OEM's, not Microsoft, and not all OEM's do that, just the major ones.

Here's an idea: buy a refurbished Macbook from Apple and put aside the money you saved to go towards your Leopard purchase.

Ignorance abounds around here

No.

K thanks. A "buddy" of mine says an April release is estimated.

Wiat for 45nm and LED LCD to be put into the iMAC or their future laptops... thats what im doing.. possibly ddr 3 will be in them as well :x

When are they due?

No, it was to satisfy retaillers who would have otherwise had a difficult christmas full of customers waiting until after Vista arrived to buy their new PC.

There will always be something better the longer you wait...

Not my point. My point is if new Macs are due very soon, it would be stupid to buy one right now. Seems like I have been waiting forever for these new Macs/Leopard.

LED LCD is NOT coming anytime soon, some people took the anouncement from samsung a bit too far. The displays they were showing are only capable of 262K colors http://aving.net/usa/news/default.asp?mode...mp;mn_name=news

My point is that there are almost always new Macs due very soon with new imbedded gadgets: There are rumours every month of the year about potentially new hardware. IMO you should wait for the next iMac rev/generation before purchasing one because the current models are more than 4 months old and perhaps for Mac OS X Leopard, I'm doing that as well. What you definitely shouldn't do is wait for the next iMac rev/generation because it might feature new hardware type X or Y. ;)
