Bioshock General Discussion ( Xbox 360 )

He gives you one more prize, then he tells you to GTFO. I wanted whatever was in the case, and I figured he had the key, so I ended up fighting and killing him anyway. You know the two glass cases in the Atrium? The prize he gives you is in the right dome, and IIRC it's Medical Expert 2. But no, you aren't required to fight him.

Hahaha...I picked up the key and didn't even do anything with it. Went right on to the next mission and quit (mind must've been fried...combo of being so early in the morning, and having gone on 3 straight hours of playing by then). I was just so surprised when I hit him and something actually happened...thats awesome.

Also, regarding Big Daddy's - hack a nearby turret. The Daddy will destroy it in short order, but not without a fair bit of damage to itself. It also doesn't shoot at you if the turret is shooting at it.

Truly excellent game, one of the best i have ever played. I think the demo is different from the full game as they wanted to stick in as much as possible into the Demo.

yep. On Major Nelsons podcast ken lavigne said they put some thing in the demo that weren't in that place in the full game just to show people what you can do in the game.

mine still hasn't arrived! but the postie hasnt been so theres still a chance of getting it today, if i dont get it today im gonna have to message Game and find out whats gone wrong

DrunknMunky have you got yours yet?

Should we lift the Spoiler tags, since It's the official release day today. Then everyone must know by now, spoilers are included in the thread.

I vote no, I'm not picking up my copy for about a week (damned payday) and I don't want to miss out on the discussion about the game (how good it is, not what's in it)

wooo it just arrived, now im gonna open it and see if my big daddy was broken

edit he doesnt look broken but im keeping him in his packaging for now

i think we should just keep using spoiler tags, there not hard or slow to use

I got the game yesterday after the hours. I got the XBOX version of it and I must say - this game is going to keep me playing it for a long time. After Gears this is the first game that makes me so excited and keeps me playing without getting bored at some point. This year I've played Call of Duty 2, Prey, Darkness but each of it after 1.5-2h of playing gets me real bored, except the Darkness maybe...The atmosphere, the dialogue, graphics - everything's perfect. And also because of the Vita chambers I'm playing it on hard - so it can last longer, buts its god damn hard. The game is kinda linear but with lots of options - if you want to explore. The idea is somewhat like in GTA - "What if I..." which appeals to me. Also, the demo of the Bioshock is different than the full, i think the authors put some extra stuff in it just to show the people some bits of what you'll find in the actual version.

Everybody, this is a must have game. Go for it!

How do you get the Medical Expert 2 out of the other dome? I got the chest by killing him and taking the key ... are you not just supposed to kill him? lol

Woot, my copy arrived this morning. My internet has been down all day though and this is the first I've been able to connect all day.

The tip of my BG's drill was broken, but I've jsut glued it back on for now until they (hopefully) setup a exchange scheme. The box GAME sent in though was ruined, looks like water got to it pretty bad, the Royal Mail even put it in a plastic bag and security tie which I suppose is good of them. Wasn't too pleased though, the box is a bit bashed in one of the corners and a crease down the front/bottom of the box.

Enough of that though, the game is fantastic! I'm not quite sure where I've played up to, but I'm on some mission before I can enter the Fishery (sp?) Killing BD's and Little Sister's is awesome though  Best way I've found is to either use hacked turrets and just blast them with shotgun and incinerate or use telekinesis to catch/throw grenades from Splicers

Yeah, that's what I said. He goes through his whole speech and then opens it up for you. Then he tells you to leave. I wanted whatever was locked up, so I killed him and got the key as well.

Do all Big Daddys have a little sister? I just killed one and I couldn't find her. (I could of sworn I saw one earlier)

Every now and then he puts the Little Sister into the ducts, if you kill him while she's int he wall then you won't get her. You must wait for another big daddy to spawn then kill him while she's out with him.

Hey glad you are liking the game. Sorry you had to wait until today to get it. I'm sure you will be able to get your BD Figure fixed as they are going to replace them soon :)

Honestly it doesn't bother me that much, I have some model glue from when I used to play warhammer and fixed it up pretty well. It will do for now

Just finished playing for a few hours, and reached the Arcadia level. This game just gets more and more grogeous! Having so much fun playing it :woot:

just finished it... fontaine was really weak... i only used one health kit in the entire battle against him! although to be fair i did have a fully loaded and upgraded grenade launcher. i'm gonna play through on hard now to try and get the rest of the achievements... i don't like the "invent 100 items" one though... or the jackpot one. it would've been nice if you could continue roaming around the game after killing fontaine, but i suppose it'd be too easy if you're a big daddy

Yeah, I've noticed that too and it's pretty annoying.

Glad I am not the only one , may make a post on the official site so it gets fixed cause it really is way off for me and its easy to fix. Can't believe its happening in the first place really, its the only fault i can find in the game so far

    • There is a default resolution setting in Settings > Display that can be changed with a click. You can also change the settings on a per-game basis. No CLI needed. Also, Steam has countless games that are not "[perpetual] alpha/beta games", so no need for the straw man. Plus you can use other stores as well. And console games (e.g. PS5) cost a fortune, which itself more than negates the price subsidy on the system, unless you plan on exclusively playing 1 or 2 games. It's true that you shouldn't buy a system that doesn't support the game(s) you want to play, but I think that's kinda obvious, and applies to every console as well as PC. I don't game in the living room and have no need of a Steam Machine, but there is a clear market segment that would find it useful.

RSS Guard 5.2.0 changelog: Added: Feed auto-fetch can now also be delayed while Feral GameMode is active on Linux and startup auto-fetch is skipped when GameMode is already active. (#2265) WebEngine builds can now use RSS Guard generated proxy auto-config (PAC) rules so article/web browsing follows per-account and per-feed proxy settings more closely. (#2273) Generated PAC rules now also cover related subdomains and use Public Suffix List data, so feeds such as feeds.bbc.co.uk can also proxy resources from images.bbc.co.uk. (#2273) Standard feeds can now define extra proxy domains, useful when article images, stylesheets or other page resources are loaded from a CDN or another domain that should use the same feed proxy. (#2273) RSS Guard now asks for proxy credentials when a WebEngine page needs proxy authentication and can fill credentials from the current feed proxy when available. (#2273) Network settings again include an option to ignore all cookies, which clears stored cookies and prevents new cookies from being accepted. Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now individually ignore cookies while downloading feed data. Stored cookies can now be deleted from the Tools menu. Custom skin colors can now override the feed list article count color separately from feed titles, including a separate highlighted color. (#2275) Settings dialog can now search across available settings and highlight matching controls. (#1754) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now optionally be reported as broken when they are valid but contain no articles. (#2039) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now override the application-wide feed connection timeout per feed. (#1023) Tray icon can now use a custom background color and unread-count text color, with an option to reuse the generated icon as the application icon. (#1973) Support for more benevolent parsing of Gemlog entries (#2295). Article list can now show when an article was received by RSS Guard. (#947) Feed deep discovery now actually scrapes all links found in the website and checks if they are feeds or not. This greatly enhances usability of the deep discovery mode and discovers many more feeds than before. (#2306) Search boxes now show a small dot when the feed or article list is hiding some items because of active filtering. (#873) Articles now have a shortcut-assignable action to open the homepage of the feed they belong to. (#2060) Fixed: Parallel feed updates no longer crash when multiple update results are processed at the same time. (64cf521) Links in WebEngine articles opened from feeds such as Kill the Newsletter now open correctly instead of being swallowed by the embedded page. (#2272) Relative article URLs resolution was kinda broken. (#2282) Clicking article URL did not work when the URL had "fragment" set. (#2293) The default proxy setting now uses Qt/system default proxy behavior instead of forcing no proxy. (e0263ad) WebEngine article loading now keeps the current feed context, so feed-specific proxy credentials remain available while the article page loads.
