Windows Vista Service Pack 1 RTM x86 leaked

why not just wait for it to be released, instead of running the risk of installing some 'SP1' thjat some kiddie has injected trojans or whatever into.

I mean..> What's the rush?........Bragging rights???

Experiencing a more stable and enjoyable Vista enviroment?

It's a huge tease to be told SP1 is ready, but wait another month.

I've been on XP for ages, and I've tried Vista many times but fell back to XP. I had ideas SP1 would finally do enough to bridge the gap and get me happily onto Vista.

Also for your remarks on trojans, don't be daft. I'm away to install my SP1 Vista package - SP1 is already integrated into it, so im doing a clean install.

omfg kiddie hacked windows updates and injected trojans, everyone run for the hills

just did some analys on the streaming method of getting rtm sp1 for vista (windowsupdate method, with registry adding)

first:

uninstall al previous (any) / beta servicepack1 installations from your vista system. reboot.

then run as administrator this script:

@echo off
reg delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSp1 /f > NUL 2>&1
reg delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSP1 /f > NUL 2>&1
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSp1 /v Beta1 /t REG_SZ /d dcf99ef8-d784-414e-b411-81a910d2761d /f
IF NOT %errorlevel% == 0 ( goto ERROR)

:SUCCESS
%SystemRoot%\system32\wuapp.exe
goto END

:ERROR
@echo.
echo ===========================================================
echo error
echo ===========================================================
@echo.
pause
goto END

:END

(batch file / cmd file). save with notepad as .bat or .cmd, then rightclick runas admin etc....

then go to winupdate and download the smaller updates first. it asks you to reboot several times. always recheck the winupdate service.

finally it starts loading the servicepack 18000 build from january 18th, 2008, 18:40 buildtime

anyways, the interesting thing is what it is actually loading off the winupdate servers:

TCP_MISS/206 271183 GET http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/svpk/2008/01/spclitegfx_cba52dcbb98fcc4d2f40e632150f697ce5966d61.exe

and finally the big one (over 700megs of size, its being used as a stream, so the winupdate client only gets the bytes from it (probably an image file (like iso or something which can "extract" stuff from right inside it, no archive, as it wouldnt be able to unpack if only getting certain parts/bytes from the middle of an archive (consistency)) that your computer actually needs.... but this big file could actually also bee some .iso image of the actual servicepack standalone or even the .exe downloader complete with all the released languages (30something...)

try to check it out yourselves and post some more hints.

good luck and happy debugging&anal-yzing ;p

i just install SP1 from the windows update hack don't know if it's final or and don't notice anything

the first restart after the complete install of SP1 was very slow i guess it delete all superfetch cache or something cause it was slow

but after that it when back to normal don't see any speed improvement other then when u delete something is alot faster now

i wish XP had superfecth i like it alot makes avast & comodo / MSN /abitguru /daemon tools load really fast

Yes there are 2 ways to do it

1. Uninistall previous SP betas are uninistalled

I posted this in a buried thread also,,, so...

What happens when the SP1 RC expires? I am not going to be able to download the RTM when it is released.

What happens when I turn my PC on with the expired RC?

the fact that you can't get the RTM is irrelevant. you'd still have to uninstall the RC first. as for what happens if you don't? sorry i don't know. :p

i'm pretty sure "winver" will tell you the expiry date. just uninstall it before then. :)

BTW, build 18000 aka SP1 RTM doesn't expire

btw, sp1 rtm is now up @majorgeeks.com

erm no it isn't. it's the "windows automated installation kit" disk image. anybody who downloads that is going to be sorely disappointed. :D

edit: here you go. check the filename/size and then compare it to the majorgeeks download.....

Correct! However I believe it has SP1 in it so maybe someone can figure out a way to extract it?

It's just crazy to think all that... just relax yourself and wait a few more... you'll get what you seek soon.

    • IBM are good at announcing stuff, but not at actually delivering it... How many decades ago did they announce quantum computers, and here we are in 2026, with CHINA delivering them, and IBM still talking...
    • It sounds like you’re trying to rewrite a narrative to align this layoff with your political beliefs. Games can be horrible, whatever backwards notions you have don’t change that bungie has problems, mostly with just bad games, and arrogance. When they pushed Microsoft to let them be independent they lost their way. They hired on a bunch of people and they couldn’t justify the employee count consistent with their revenue.
