Lets have Alonso midfield with Fabregas...**** barry!

...

Xabi Alonso's agent has claimed the Liverpool midfielder is aware of interest from Arsenal.

The Spaniard has seen a possible move to Juventus hit the buffers after the Italian giants signed Christian Poulsen from Sevilla.

However, reports continue to suggest that Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is prepared to sell Alonso to fund his own spending plans.

Alonso is rated in the ?14million bracket and has now been linked with a move to the Reds' Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Up to Liverpool

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is in the market for a midfielder after losing Mathieu Flamini, while Gilberto Silva is set to join Panathinaikos.

Reports in Spain suggest contact has been made between the two clubs and the 26-year-old's agent Inaki Ibanez says the player is waiting for Liverpool's decision.

"The player knows about this subject and now the decision lies with Liverpool," Ibanez told Spanish newspaper Publico.

Alonso's sale would give Benitez the funds to sign Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry, who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Alonso would be a perfect player for Arsenal. He would sit back and act as a deep lying playmaker, whilst Fabregas would be your box to box midfielder.

I don't think we would sell him to Arsenal though.

18.45 Midfielder Alexander Hleb is to be officially presented as a Barcelona player at 19.30, according to Sky Sports News.

17.50 Sevilla winger Diego Capel has hinted that he could be interested in a switch to Tottenham. According to reports, Spurs have already failed with a ?12.5million bid this summer.

15.58 Inter Milan are considering alternatives in midfield if their summer bid to land Chelsea star Frank Lampard fails.

15.42 Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he turned down a ?12million bid from Monaco for Croatia international midfielder Niko Kranjcar.

15.41Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that Manchester United have made a bid for an as yet unidentified player. Who would you like to see at Old Trafford this summer?

15.40 Arsenal have confirmed that Brazil international Gilberto Silva has completed his move to Greek side Panathinaikos. Does Arsene Wenger need to bring in midfield reinforcements?

Well Gareth Barry will fill Hlebs hole, well, Giberto was only a bit part player.

Others that play midfield include Denilson

Arsenal need 3 maybe 4 experienced players and we will have a good First team Squad.

17.23 Probably the most far-fetched piece of speculation so far this summer is that Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has arrived in Uzbekistan ahead of a proposed move to PFC Kuruvchi. Could this transfer really go through?

WTF

Gareth Barry will fill Hlebs role????

He may have played in the left wing during a period in his career but he cannot replace Hleb and if he was bought, he'd be bought as a CM.

I am not all that surprised. Keep in mind these clubs in these countries pay a fortune to bring these players over. I cannot remember who went but a renown world class player went to Saudi Arabia for a fortune to play for two years.

Still surprised he would leave there though.

Jay Jay Okacha went one year he didn't do well but he went surely for the money so maybe Eto'o is doing the same.

LOL! Uzbekistan out of all places...

Yeah.. I dont know who would buy him after this.. could be career suicide if he goes ahead with this! Having said that.. I recall an interview on tele where he menioned him being fed up of racism in Spain and in European football in general.. said he was being vocally abused by fans regularly and that he wanted to leave!

Meanwhile... :p

Sunderland's transfer market activity surged into life yesterday with a remarkable raid on Tottenham Hotspur that could see Steed Malbranque, Teemu Tainio, Younes Kaboul and Pascal Chimbonda swap White Hart Lane for the Stadium of Light.

They still have a certain someone called Messi :shifty:

and Henry.. but what abt midfield? Xavi left alone.. Ronaldinho, Deco gone.. they have Hleb too now.. but thats abt it think.. Real and even teams like Valencia and Villareal can slaughter them.. they need more in midfield..

Boss: Ronaldo's staying put

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed he met with Cristiano Ronaldo to discuss the player's future and insists the winger will not be sold to Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old has been openly coveted by Real Madrid over the last few months with the player himself reported to be keen on a switch to the Bernabeu.

However, at a press conference in South Africa to mark the start of United's pre-season trip, the Reds' boss confirmed Ronaldo is going nowhere.

"The meeting went well - I think we both put across our points of view - where we stand and where the player stands," explained Sir Alex.

"I can say he'll be a Manchester United player next season. That's our stance - he won't be sold."

More to follow...

Looks like Ronaldo will be at Man Utd this season.

Liverpool and Manchester United have been reported to the Premier League by Tottenham Hotspur following their respective interest in Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov.

Spurs are unhappy with the conduct of their top-flight rivals following speculation linking Keane with a move to Anfield, and Berbatov with a switch to Old Trafford.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez has expressed his interest in Keane, while United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken of his optimism of concluding a deal for Berbatov.

However, Spurs have criticised the two clubs, with chairman Daniel Levy feeling they have to take the matter up with the Premier League.

Sheer arrogance

"Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players," said Levy in a statement on the club's official website.

"It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

"This comes after a series of events, dating back to last summer, which have shown Manchester United to be in breach of Premier League (PL) rules. As a result, we have today made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Manchester United.

"Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently and we made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Liverpool earlier this week.

"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct.

Negative influence

"Our subsequent position has been severely compromised by both clubs making their intentions widely known and indeed making contact with the players and their agents, without the club's permission.

"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence.

"This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

    • Microsoft announces the return of Xbox exclusives with Gears of War and Clockwork Revolution by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft had plenty of announcements to make today at the Xbox Games Showcase celebrating 25 years of the gaming brand. Now, under the leadership of the new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, Xbox games are going back to their original release methods. She appeared in the livestream itself to announce the return of Xbox console exclusives. This means two major upcoming games from first-party studios won't be coming to PlayStation or Nintendo consoles: Gears of War: E-Day from The Coalition and Clockwork Revolution from InExile. Both titles will only be coming out on Xbox Series X|S consoles and Windows PCs, ditching any plans they had for PlayStation. "These are not timed exclusives," confirmed Microsoft. "We’re committed to investing in and growing XBOX both on console and beyond." The company confirmed that any already announced Xbox titles for PlayStation, under previous leadership, will continue to arrive for the rival platform. This means games like the new Halo remake, Forza Horizon 6, Fable, and State of Decay 3 will still be available on PlayStation, either at launch or later. It sounds like any new projects announced by the company will avoid other consoles in the same way. Microsoft first opened the floodgates by bringing titles like Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles back in 2024. Since then, almost every new game release from Xbox Game Studios has arrived for rival consoles alongside Xbox and PC. This decision follows Sony's plans to ditch its own multiplatform releases too. Outside of multiplatform live service titles, the PlayStation maker is even abandoning its PC porting endeavors that started years ago.
    • I'm missing the beginning part of this equation... but for the sake of the convo, you don't get to take a $250(?) set of normally priced RAM, jack it up to over $500/600/800 just because of a market shift, then lower it back down to more than what it was originally and call that a "sale". Not the author of this post... the manufacturer/seller.
