You that woman in megaton that wants you to get rad sickness for kicks and her book mainly? I got to over 600 and went back and her shop is locked...does that naturally happen?

It does if its too late. She locks up for the night. Shes generally open between 08:00 and 17:00.

The opening and closing of stores in Fallout 3 is the exact same as what was there in Oblivion. Moira's Craterside Supply is no exception. What I love is when Moira becomes a ghoul after you nuke Megaton. :D

I love the alien blaster! until it breaks :(

PC mods ftw.

It's not funny how much superior the PC version is to the consoles :D

Great post about some good mods,

make sure to dl the v1.1 beta4 of the Fallout script extender if you use the latest patch!

Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch The Unofficial DLC Patches will ONLY work if the DLC's are in your \Fallout 3\Data\ folder otherwise using them will crash your game. If you want to move the DLC's out of G4WL then simply do a file seach in your "C:\Documents and Settings" for *.esm" (make sure the option "Search hidden files and folders" is checked) once found simply cut and paste them into your \Fallout 3\Data\ folder and enable them like any other plugin

Darnified UI remember, you need to edit the [Fonts] section in the fallout.ini (if doing a fresh install, run the game at least once to the title screen to get the .ini to add the [Fonts] section)

Fallout Interoperability Program - FOIP (these have the .esps, that make fwe, fook, wmk, and mmm all work together

CRAFT - Community Resource to Allow Fanmade Tinkering DL this also if you use the module bypass mod optionally included in FWE, it needs this to work

and extra misc mods I run, havent seen issues yet in tandem with all of the above

GTS - Global Travel System makes the whole world visitable (for future modders to make) read the read me.

Fellout - The Fallout 3 Weather Overhaul Makes the world look normal, not green tinted, also can make the nights VERY VERY DARK..optionally

assuming you download and use all those here is my load order that loads, and doesn't crash (too ...much)

note I have operation anchorage and the pitt dlc, so if you don't, just skip over those files and the extra fook.esps with them in their names.

when i "redo" my mods I delete all the files and folders in the "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data\" folder EXCEPT the folders Music, Shaders, Video and all the .bsa files, and the fallout3.esm.... i also go into ..\My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\Saves\ZombieSupaStar\ and delete my saves there

I finally got in with my severe radiation sickness :p

I haven't once got bad karma yet which is good for me! so tempted to kill and steal :pinch:

I love the alien blaster! until it breaks :(

The Alien Blaster can be given to Protector Casdin, in front of Fort Independence in exchange for a large amount of ammunition, medicine or grenades (it's worth 484 5.56mm or 20 stimpaks/radaway/frag grenades). See The Outcast Collection Agent page.

The only ways to repair the Alien Blaster aside from the usual vendors, are by using the Firelance as spare parts. Or alternatively, giving it to Protector Casdin, and stealing it back (or killing him and retrieving it from his corpse). It will be at 100% condition. It should be noted that pickpocketing Casdin is difficult, so you shouldn't give him the Alien Blaster unless you're prepared to pickpocket him unsuccessfully many, many times (you may get lucky and steal it back after six, or it could be over 70 attempts. Seriously) before you get your gun back (or whatever other item he'll accept that you want repaired to 100%).

(Confirmed on PS3 and 360) Another way to steal it back is to use a Stealth Boy (I would have a spare just in case the escape takes too long) and highlight the Blaster and press the Take All option. You will only get the Blaster, but, it will be at 100% condition. Even if you get caught the most you'll get is a "Caution" alert (note: as long as you remain in sneak mode and are not making too much noise) He will be looking for you but if you can get out of his range (i.e., the red indicator on your radar disappears and you get the "Hidden" status) you can fast travel to a safe location. After 3 to 4 game days Casdin resets and becomes friendly again.

There is also a Random event which happens, an explosion in the sky, causing an Alien Blaster and ammo to fall from the sky.

I heard this explosion twice but didn't know what it was until I was reading about the Alien Blaster!

I had heard about that, I have to go hunting for the spaceship again!

Maybe old news, but keep seeing these rumours about a 4th dlc on various sites.

Thanks to a deal struck with Microsoft, the Xbox 360 has been getting the royal treatment from Bethesda Software regarding Fallout 3. The console is set to receive three DLC contents with two already available for purchase. However, there are clues indicating that the PS3 may be receiving DLC for Fallout 3 soon as well.

Fallout 3 is hands down one of the best RPGs of last year. I have currently clocked over 120 hours including the DLC contents. I am definitely looking forward to Broken Steel which will wrap up the battle between the Enclave and Brotherhood of Steel. If you recall, I harshly criticized Bethesda Software for not making available the Broken Steel DLC to PS3 owners as it is a pivotal closure to one of the biggest loose ends in the game.

According to multiple retail sites, a new DLC bundle is available for pre-order titled Fallout 3 Expansion Pack: Broken Steel & Point Look. The bundle is not all that surprising as Bethesda has done something similar for the first two DLCs. However, the inclusion of an unannounced DLC titled ?Point Look? or ?Point Lookout? was surprising.

Bethesda and Microsoft announced an agreement to release three DLC for the Xbox 360. However, since the agreement (contract) will have run its course come May 5, chances are good that the fourth DLC will be made available for the PS3.

Another big clue came when Shacknews asked Peter Hines, head honcho of Bethesda Software, about the fourth unannounced DLC. Hines made an interesting comment when he stated:

We have said there will be three DLCs for Fallout 3, for PC and 360? Beyond that we have no announced plans for additional DLC.

The thing that caught my attention besides the ?no announced? comment was the wording of the DLC announcement around the PC and 360. Usually a company would be shouting at the top of its lungs regarding a new DLC. However, considering the fact that Hines is only talking about DLC for Xbox 360, it sounds like an exclusivity agreement in action.

This is the same kind of dance you would see if a journalist were to ask a software company if there are plans to bring the exclusive game to another system. With the release of Broken Steel around the corner, we will most likely hear more about this fourth DLC in the coming weeks.

Also Retailers List Fourth Fallout 3 Expansion

I'm excited about Broken Steel. I loved the base game but I hated the endings so much. You go through an epic adventure only to die a noble death, or go on living a life of evil. I hope they do a good job of tying up the loose ends yet making the new endings at least more realistic. I also hope they somehow manage to slow the leveling down as well as bump it to Lvl 30. I find without mods, you hit max level way before the endgame.

It will be great if the fourth DLC is released. However only time will tell the reality about it.

By the way, I capped the fifth and final Super Mutant Behemoth after roaming for almost 3 months. So here is the complete list of all Behemoths:

1st: When you enter Galaxy News Radio.

2nd: In the Evergreen Mills being captured by the Slavers.(I opened the cage and it killed all the slavers :D ).

3rd: In the Capitol Building(again a battle between Mutants and Talon Company mercs).

4th: In Takoma Industrial(accessible only through Underground Metro)

and the 5th and the most difficult to find:

Open the cage and pick up the teddy bear in the train wreck to the west of Jury Street metro station. Some birds cn be seen flying above. The moment the doll is picked, the Behemoth charges towards you out of nowhere. I took one psycho(25% more damage) and using V.A.T.S gifted him a mini nuke. :p

I refer to wiki or online sites only when I want to get news about upcoming releases. I don't use cheats, hacks or walkthroughs. That way the game experience is ruined in my opinion.

Is anyone else level 20, having done all of the quests?

Looks like I'm gonna have to roll back about 25-30 hours just to use them to get the XP to get to 30.

Although saying that..... it might not be such a bad thing :)

Yea hence why I didn't play The Pitt yet. I figured that and Broken Steel would give me a better shot to reach 30.

    • Gf needed a new Surface and was looking at a Surface Laptop because of the Snapdragon. Seeing as it was a two year old chip she just decided to get a Lenovo Yoga 2 in 1 instead. Personally this Surface Ultra Cassis reminds me a bit of Razor. It would be interesting if it could handle proper gaming and be 17 inch.
    • No idea, frankly, I'm not into minimum requirements gaming, but it would be an interesting test to find out. Also, I just have to point out that it wasn't my intention to downplay the performance of DXVK on Linux or Linux gaming in general (despite my own experience being a bit of a mixed bag). I just thought it would be good to point out that DXVK is not Linux exclusive and that you can benefit from using it even in Windows.
