Jimmy0
Just tried this for the first time tonight and i have to admit i am very impressed. The only thing i dont like is the extra folders that it creates along with my shared folders. i.e. Web, Media Libary and Video Settings. Can these be removed ? Under the "Navigation/Share Settings" tab you can tick the "Hide #Video Settings# Folder" which will get rid of the Video Settings, not sure about the rest though. (Try un-ticking "Enable the media library"?) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/715332-ps3-media-server/page/8/#findComment-590474838 Share on other sites

StealthMode
I'm having stuttering issues even when I am connected directly to my router. Only xvid tv shows work great, I just encoded my Seinfeld library to h.264 and I am having stuttering problems, file size is 240mb per episode. I shouldn't be having problems. I'm running a C2Duo at 3.7ghz, and 4gb RAM, I think I am more than capable of transcoding, but none the less, I can't watch any 1080p mkv's or my sd Seinfeld episodes. Anyone have any insight on the advanced transcoding options, ie. kekeyint=50:vqscale=3 etc.? Are you using 1.03? If so make sure you've turned on "Enhanced multicore support for H264 HD content". If it's still struggling you could always convert the video files to PS3 compatible ones and just stream them, instead of transcoding on the fly - http://www.3r1c.eu/mkv2vob/beta/243b2/mkv2vob.exe Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/715332-ps3-media-server/page/8/#findComment-590514932 Share on other sites

And yes, I have 1.03. I also have my bandwith limited to 15mbps, and audio set to 2 channels at 160kbps. Still having issues. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 5, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted February 5, 2009 v1.04 Hi, here's the new version!... some explanations about the new "video copy" feature: in previous versions, you couldn't copy any transcoded videos on your ps3, due to a virtual size of 94gb... now it's possible, with this option enabled. Be careful: if you want to use that feature, it's recommended to set a reasonable bandwidth limit in transcode options, because transcoded videos will have no fixed size, and you could fill up your ps3's hard drive pretty quickly with default settings ! PS3 Media Server v1.04 for Windows/Linux/OSX Here's the changelog: Changes / Features . New option to enable video copy on ps3 . RAW images thumbnail support: CR2/CRW/PEF/NEF/ORF/SRF/MRW/DNG/ARW/RAF . New extensions supported: SHN/M2V/M2P . tsMuxer engine can now mux or reencode in AC3/PCM all audio tracks in real time . Add the experimental mencoder build for multicore on OSX . DVR-MS remuxer now included by default in Windows package . New translations: Spanish (thanks to Jose from playstationhoy.com), Dutch (thanks to Vincent Meylof), German (thanks to Jeuki), Russian (thanks to Peter Klassen), Polish (thanks to Maciej Bocian), Greek (thanks to Alexander Polichroniadis), Portuguese (thanks to Hugo Sousa), Finnish (thanks to Ove Sentlig), Norwegian (thanks to Ball80 and Topguy), Swedish (thanks to Dusan Ilic) and Japanese (thanks to Yu) Fixes . tsMuxer's AC3/LPCM encode/muxing + Mencoder's LPCM remuxing now working on Linux . Fixed LPCM seeking issue . Fixed regression with PicasaWeb images feed . Changes in subtitles loading / Fonts support (Default/ASS/Embedded Fonts) . Fixed channels order with tsMuxer engine's DTS->AC3 option . Transcode buffer wasn't fully released after end of video . Fixed bug with shared folders selection on Windows . Fixed periodic alive messages sent to ps3 . Better dvr-ms media info retrieval . Updated ffmpeg/mplayer/mencoder/mt builds on Windows and OSX (slight H264 speedup for singlecore) . Buffer issues with transcoded audio files lasting more than 10 minutes . Fixed RSS parsing with some feeds Download - http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/715332-ps3-media-server/page/8/#findComment-590534406 Share on other sites

Boz
For those who are using the terrific PS3MS. I made a cover template for the HD ripped movies here: PSD for PS3MS cover You should have no problem adding your thumbnail images into the framework and exporting as PNG. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 9, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted February 9, 2009 HOW do I install this "template" ? If you mean how to get it displaying on the PS3, create your image in Photoshop, then save it as folder.jpg in the folder where the movie is. PMS will automatically pick it up and apply it to the file thumbnail on the PS3. Boz
If you mean how to get it displaying on the PS3, create your image in Photoshop, then save it as folder.jpg in the folder where the movie is. PMS will automatically pick it up and apply it to the file thumbnail on the PS3. My suggestion is to export from Photoshop as PNG as it has transparent background so it will go nice with your PS3 theme. If you save as JPG it will have white background. If you don't have Photoshop you can download Photoshop Elements 7 Trial from Adobe. You'll have 30 days and you can do anything as with full version. As noted folder.jpg is one way if you have your movies organized in folder per movie. Another way is to name your file the same name but with .cover.png at the end. So let's say your filename is: LaraCroft_TombRaider.mkv your cover art would be: LaraCroft_TombRaider.mkv.cover.png Some people have reported problems with spaces in the name but I had no such issues, so I think it's something to do with applications installed. Also, don't forget to enable Thumbnail generation or something similar in PS3MS settings. I'm not at home at the moment so can't remember, can we keep the thumbnails when not going via the Media Server so for those already on the hard drive rather than the 15 second preview?
