PS3 Media Server

Recommended Posts

I just updated to the new version of the media server and now for some reason it doesn't like streaming MPEG files only transcoding them. I thought this might be a codec problem so i installed CCCP and i still keep getting the unsupported data showing on the PS3. Anyone else had this or know how to fix it?

Do you have things setup like I posted on the last page? It should only transcode when needed :/

Only advice is a restart of the PC AND PS3.

Any way to get this to see iPhoto libraries and albums on Mac or does it do this already and I haven't got it set up right. I'm using a combination of MediaLink and PS3MS right now as ML seems better for pictures/music and PS3MS better for video.

Just got my ps3 today with an hdmi cord. I got a 60" Saturday and the first thing I did today was set up this program. It's amazing. 1080p is jerky over wireless but I have an ethernet cable coming tomorrow so hopefully that will help.

One question though, I see youtube on there but not hulu. How do I find it or is there something I need to do?

Love the program so far, but had to set it up wired as even though I've got a decent connection, it never seems to go over 5Mbps, which sucks for larger files and is a waste of time for HD. I even bought a new router, but the pc just doesn't seem to pump out the data quickly enough. Any ideas how to improve it ?

There was a short guide earlier on this thread. I was actually able to get 1080p streamed flawlessly with a junk wireless router and just an okay signal. I just ran a cable to it today though just in case. Do you have a pretty fast computer?

I am hoping that they add upscaling soon. Watching a SD video on my tv is just bad.

The PS3 already upscales SD content, it's just that bad in comparison to HD. And here people say upscaled SD is practically the same as HD :p

When watching a video press triangle, go to AV settings, and bang all 3 settings up to 3. That should help ever so slightly with standard definition content.

Isn't working for me. Fails to discover PS3 until I've stopped/started PS3 Media Server service a few times and asked PS3 to search for media centres. When it finally recognises them, I get far too many DNLA 2104 errors - even halfway through a film it has been displaying perfectly :/

I've got the necessary ports forwarded (5001) and allowed access to java/javaw.exe via my software firewall.

No dice.

Laptop is wireless to router, PS3 is wired to router.

Sigh I tried it tonight.. Streaming a 720p episode on my 1080p tv and it kind of ate parts of it. You know like it was a little zoomed in. I tried to change the size, and it only had original (too small) and normal (zoomed in), and no full screen function.

Anyone else having similar issues? I can't seem to figure it out.

Enable "Full Pixel" on your TV settings. It'll be in a menu somewhere, at least it is on my Bravia. I think it might also be called overscan but I'm not sure.

    • Does anyone here know if these updates are integrated into the UUP dump isos?

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
