I like the caption buttons in Aero better, but I already stated why I went with mine (to be unique)... so I will probably give this theme the Aero frames and caption. Windows 7 default theme looks much better than it did on Vista. The teal color in Vista and the hard window edges there just wasn't my cup of tea. Aero on Windows 7 feels a lot lighter :)

Yeah I'd prefer that, I changed back because I don't really like the caption bar that much. Not enough definition, and as I mentioned earlier I like my red close button :p

You could maybe slim down the Win 7 Aero caption bar a little, but the default is pretty smooth and it looks good in applications. When using Chrome I have a line through the caption bar for some reason with your theme.

Thanks for the awesome theme. And for making the titlebars black when transparency is turned off (I find them kinda distracting).

One thing (other than the x86 systray bug) that would hold me back from using it is how bad the superbar background looks on a slightly resized bar when vertically oriented. Compare the following with a horizontal superbar. The light-dark watchatingiebit just doesn't work as well as it should vertically.

can i asked what you used to replace the icons on your superbar ?

  1. Un-pin everything from the superbar
  2. Download some nice-looking icons. I used Token.
  3. Start changing icons in the start menu.
  4. Re-pin them.

At least, that's how I did it. Tried changing the icon from the jumplist and it didn't work..

EDIT: @KJ: Thanks. That was quick. Can't wait for the next release :)

I love this theme, and just waiting on the taskbar fix to use it full time like others posted.

@Spork he is using the Token icon set which can be found here

I am trying to replace the itunes icon on it, but it won't let me for some reason. The option to change icon is greyed out. .

Go to the itunes folder. Create a new shortcut to itunes.exe in there (or anywhere, really) and change its icon. :)

I love the caption buttons. They're nice a minimal. I hope he doesn't change them. A big red button would totally clash with the elegance of the rest of the theme IMO.

ive downloaded and tried it ... i too miss the red close button :)

so far im using the soft7 theme because im usin 32bit and i get the white thing in the superbar.

and btw ur theme and soft7 are the best ATM... and they made me start my own theme :p

right now im planning it but i did play around with alot of things..

its fun :D

UxStyle is the simplest, just run the msi file that corresponds to your os version (x64 or x86) you will not need to reboot but you will need to grant it permission after 10 seconds or so in order for it to do its magic. You do not need to reboot with this method.

All you need to do then is copy the .theme file and the theme folder to the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder

So in this case the directory structure would be C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\clsSharp with the clsSharp.theme file in the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder.

When done right click the desktop, choose Personalize and the theme will appear under Installed Themes as "Clearscreen Sharp" just click this and it will install itself.

In order to get the changed startbar orb you need to replace the explorer.exe of which there are a few methods described previously in this thread.

HTH

Thanks, I got other themes working. For some reason this one does not. I will keep trying, thanks again.

same here, i've patched it and everything and the theme appears in the personilization window but when i click it i just get the basic 7 theme without aero.

i've played around with themes in vista, isnt changing themes in 7 same as in Vista ?

Same, I tried the instructions posted at the bottom of the previous page but it didn't show up in the installed themes. Damn I really wanna try this theme :(

Its bizarre that this isn't showing/applying for some people. Have you tried manually clicking the theme file inside the Themes folder, or the mssstyles file in the clrsharp folder?

Just a suggestion, have no clue if it will work or not, as it works fine here without doing that, but I remember sometimes it worked when some skins/themes failed under Vista

When I open the msstyle I get this window :

Installed into the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\clsSharp directory. Looked in the installed themes in the personalize window as well as double clicking the theme as above.

    • Cooler Master MasterFrame 600 PC case is now 33% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The Cooler Master MasterFrame 600 is currently $109.99 on Amazon, down from its original $164.99 list price. That's 33% off and $55 saved on this premium aluminum mid-tower case with a modular design. If you're upgrading your PC case and want something that doesn't force you into a rigid layout, the MasterFrame 600 is worth a look. The case is built around the Cooler Master's FreeForm 2.0 platform, which lets you reconfigure the internal structure according to your hardware. Magnetic side panels allow for straightforward adjustments, and the case supports everything from Mini-ITX to E-ATX motherboards without compromise. There's also generous cooling headroom. Four pre-installed PWM fans handle airflow out of the box. GPU clearance goes up to 410mm, and the case supports radiators up to 420mm with room for three simultaneously. Truth be told, this might not be the prettiest case on the market, but it’s highly functional. The aluminum construction keeps the whole thing lightweight despite its size, and the finish looks noticeably better than the plastic mid-towers competing at this price point. If you want a serious, flexible case that prioritizes function over flashy aesthetics like RGB lighting, the MasterFrame 600 delivers at a reasonable price.
