Halo Reach Thread

Gotcha :) I stopped playing Reach days ago since it ****es me off, so that was before Invasion.

It will happen in social games though. Happened a bit in Halo 3 where it would get split even when you've got a full party... Usually happens if the party numbers are screwed up.

I would just post on Bnet about it if it doesn't already exist or if you gabby yet. They need to fix parties from getting split OR just not start a game if the amount of parties are uneven so people aren't split or dropped.

Bungie talks Reach issues, promises fixes for release

reach-bamboo.jpg

If you've been playing the Halo: Reach beta -- and, statistically, you probably have -- you've likely noticed a lot a changes compared to Halo 3. Look a little closer and you'll find something more sinister: bugs, glitches, issues. Of course, it is a beta test, so such things are expected. Still, in the latest weekly update, the folks at Bungie decided to calm our fears and explain that things will be fixed for the final release this fall. Among the issues addressed: teammates stealing flags in Stockpile, barely visible aiming reticules and the ad nauseam barrage of "Flag taken ... flag dropped" in CTF matches. Bungie assures fans that these and other issues have already been fixed in the current build of Reach.

In other Reach news, Bungie has posted a handy beta survival guide compiled by community member Shake Appeal. If you're having trouble adjusting to the new weapons, abilities and overall feel of Halo: Reach, you may want to give the guide a once over.

If you haven't done this already, you can try creating a new profile on your 360 - you get a gold trial with up to 3 profiles, afaik.

Thanks spenser... had a great session last night with a new live account.

I think that i'll exploit the 3 free trials... 3 x 1 month, should be keep be going till reach does come out in the fall :)

So they sorta fixed invasion. the removed the DMR kit from Spartans on stage one.

which I guess kind of even out the stage one imbalance.

of course last ight someone whined and whined about it on XBL how it totally made it imbalanced now and it was impossible th play spartans, then he whined that they secretly nerfed the sniper cause he fired 3 shots at someone(apparently head shots) and he didn't die, yet after that someone sniped him through a wall and killed him in one...

The only imbalance on Invasion at the moment is Spartan teir 3 loadouts. Shotguns AND Grenade Launchers? The Elites get what? A sword? The Spartans can really destroy with both those weapons while the Elites are constantly bounced back by counter-melee. It is very very hard to get the core out of the building once the Spartans lock it down. It literally becomes a camp out.

hmmm while it sometimes get stuck in the corridors outside the core room, it usually gets out in my experience. it's usually on the open ground it gets stopped cold with tanks, sniper and beam rifle spam.

And I swear, shotguns and melee are more powerful for everyone else but me :)

And Quitters, quitters annoy the hell out of me.

Indeed. Last week I was playing Invasion when my entire team ditched me with the exception of one person. Meanwhile, the Spartans still had a full team. Needless to say, we got bent over the table.

It's always been a problem in the other playlists (in Halo 3), since you would inevitably land on a game mode that 40% of the people didn't want to play, but I'm surprised to see that behaviour happening in Invasion. If people don't want to play Invasion, then perhaps they should go back to Grab Bag.

Just played the beta for the first time and did surprisingly well. Got 17 kills on a SWAT match was a nice start :p. The load outs are definitely adding something different to the game which is cool, it gives everybody a chance to start with a weapon of their choosing. I played with two other friends in that 3v3 mode and we ended up winning quite a bit. I definitely enjoyed that mode the most.

This is why I kinda stopped playing. When my team left me and my other friend, it was a 4on2.. on CTF.. The whole other team knows there is only 2 people left on the other team and camps at our CTF spot. how the hell am I supposed to win? gosh.

Is the 'network test 1' laggy or just jittery in general for anyone else?

It is a test of their online co-operative model. Not only that, but seeing as it is a stress test, it is no surprise it is laggy in some way.

    • Google pitches Spanner as one database for all AI agents with these new featues by Karthik Mudaliar Google Cloud is introducing new features within Spanner, its distributed database, as a place where enterprises should keep their data, using which AI agents could make smarter and better decisions. In a detailed blog post, Google highlighted quite a few features coming to Spanner, including relational data, graph relationships, vector search, key-value access, full-text search, and operational analytics together in one database architecture. Google says that today's systems aren't well-made for AI agents. There could be data that is present in one system, search indexes in another, embeddings in a vector database, and relationship data in a graph database. This fragmentation isn't great for AI agents to do their jobs because they don't have access to all of this data in one place. This is where Google is positioning Spanner as a solution. Spanner is already a globally distributed relational database with strong consistency, and Google wants its customers to see it as a broader data layer for AI applications. The company introduced something called Spanner Graph, along with integrated vector search, full-text search, a Cassandra-compatible key-value endpoint, and a columnar engine for analytical queries on operational data. Google also added that its ScaNN-powered vector search can support indexes with more than 10 billion vectors, while the columnar engine can make some analytical scans up to 200 times faster. All of this isn't just exclusive to the Google Cloud Platform, and there's support for multi-cloud as well. This comes via Spanner Omni, which Google says is a downloadable, containerized version of Spanner that can run on Kubernetes and in environments outside Google Cloud, including Microsoft Azure and AWS, and even on-premises infrastructure as well as edge deployments. Google says that customers who are interested in the full-featured edition should contact the company, and there's no word on commercial availability or separate pricing. Those interested can read the full blog by Google Cloud, which details these features individually.

    • They have lots of info on me, I have a facebook account and have done so for years, it was the thing to have then. My phone number is not on it. I don't have the Facebook app on my phone these days, just the messenger part, and only for a couple of people to contact me, most will text me via SMS or phone. I agree, Meta, like others, even without an account will know something about me. Just have to try and keep some things private Also, never saw the need for Whatsapp, people used to ask for me to join it, but as I said to them, I have SMS and a phone, use that, or email
