I will never understand why people spend so much more money on the special editions that add nothing of value.

Sometimes the toys are pretty cool. I've never seen anything in the Halo Special Editions that I had to have, but I got the Fallout one for the lunchbox, bobble-head, and bottle opener. I'll probably get the New Vegas one too.

Well in Reach's case... it's a Statuette of the whole team... it's cool as a display item for sure.. but I have no space.. nor the money.

Sometimes I'll go for the special edition of a game if I can get it on sale. I've seen a few situations where the special edition was only $5 more than the regular edition, and it ends up coming with a SteelBook and an art book. Even if the SteelBook is nothing special, and even if I just end up tossing the art book into a dark corner of my closet, I can certainly think of worse things to spend $5 on.

This is a rare case in which I will probably end up spending the gross price of $150 USD for the Legendary Edition. I want that statue to geek up my room a little bit, and that flaming helmet just looks hilarious. Never mind the fact that it will make me easier to spot for snipers ;).

Game - $60

Limited Edition content - $10

Statues - $80 (5 statues at $16 each)

Seems fair to me...

My insatiable lust for all things Halo bypasses the common sense departments of my brain. Then again, one could argue that such departments are altogether absent in my case.

I'm not condemning your action, in all honesty being a minor figure collector seeing figurines that are that cheap is pretty rare. Especially ones that well crafted. Problem is, what piqued my interest in the more expensive versions was Halsey's notebook, not the figurines. So I'm gonna settle for the Limited.

After traveling around Melbourne Australia to maybe 20 game stores finding the legendary preorder sold out in every one I finally managed to pre order one at ebgames.com.au! Took so long loll because I was so late but they say they gonna ship it out on sept 14th!!! Comes with bonus recon as well so I can has flaming reconz :)

I,m so pumped for reach now September here we come!!!

I agree that it's definitely a substantial price increase between the Limited Edition and the Legendary Edition, especially considering that the only additions are the figurines and the flaming helmet (whose novelty will probably wear off within the first thirty minutes of using it). I actually didn't even realize that the Limited Edition existed until I did a search for it yesterday. Still, at the end of the day, I can't deny that I want those figurines, and considering that I haven't purchased a lot of games this year (far less than normal, in any event), I do have some extra money set aside for this.

IGN has a preview of Reach Avatar items as well. One of them looks to be exclusive to certain press events (San Diego ComicCon, PAX, etc).

link would be nice.. ;)

I think I will pick up the Limted Edition/ Legendary Version in a year or two. I remember for Halo 3 it went down to $50 and less just to get rid of the excess stock that no one would buy.

Yes this is really true... there's still some Halo 3 Special Editions with the Cheif Helmet for like $50 or less.

I have a good feeling that Ivory Tower is coming back. :) Bungie, in their typical style is teasing a multiplayer map in the making (I think in one of the BWUs). The descriptions fits perfectly to Ivory Tower.

Oh how I hope you're right.

    • Didn’t Dbrand once complain that Casetify was ripping off their designs a well? seems pretty bad of them to try and get around Valve’s copyright this way with that in mind.
    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
    • It's listed #399.99 on Amazon, per your link. It's not $299.99.
