A foldable smartphone has been unveiled by Huawei's sub-brand Honor, the Honor Magic V. It features a bigger internal folding display that is combined with a smaller external folding display that may be utilized even when the smartphone is folded.
The Magic V's internal folding screen spans 7.9 inches across and has an aspect ratio of 10:9. Its resolution is 2272 x 1984 with a refresh rate of 90Hz.
When folded, Honor Magic V provides a wider 21.3:9 aspect ratio because of its 6.45-inch 44° curved OLED display. In addition to this, the waterdrop hinge allows the headset to unfold to an extra-wide 7.9-inch display.
Powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the Magic V has 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage inside. With a 4,750mAh battery, the smartphone can be charged at 66W. In addition to supporting 5G, Honor's Magic UI 6.0 runs on top of Android 12. This, the company claims, allows for the simultaneous display of numerous apps.
There are three 50-megapixel sensors on the back of the foldable, including a "spectrum-enhanced camera," an ultra-wide camera, and what Honor is dubbing a "main sensor." The Magic V includes two 42-megapixel front-facing cameras, one in the display and the other in the fold-out screen inside the smartphone.
Available in Black, Space Silver, and Burnt Orange colors, Honor Magic V is poised to hit China's retail stores from January 18.
