Samsung Gear S coming to AT&T on November 7

Samsung is releasing another wearable in the form of the Gear S. The defining feature will be that it has its own line of service, allowing it to be used without being tethered to a smartphone.

Samsung's latest wearable (that's right, a new one already!) is headed to AT&T this holiday season. Although Samsung has released a plethora of wearable devices over the past couple of years, this is one of the first wearables that will be able to function independently from a mobile phone.

That's right, the Gear S will have its own SIM and phone number, allowing you to make calls, send and receive texts, and even browse the web without the need to tether an existing device. But, in order to have this freedom, it will require an additional line of service that is exclusively for the Gear S.

The Gear S looks similar to previous releases and takes the wonderful curved styling of the Gear Fit and melds it with the physical practicality of the Gear 2. The Samsung Gear S will feature 4GB of memory, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 300mAh battery, and will have an IP67 rating, making it water resistant and dust-proof.

The Gear S will be available on November 7th in stores and online. The device will be $199.99 on a two-year contract.
