Sea of Thieves Forsaken Shores trailer shows off upcoming volcanoes and the rowboat

The first official trailer for Rare's upcoming Sea of Thieves Forsaken Shores major content update has landed, offering everyone a look at the brand new volcanic region and the highly anticipated rowboat that's incoming. The trailer went up yesterday for a brief period before being pulled down, with the developer saying it needed to focus on some new issues that surfaced with yesterday's update.

Arriving as the third major content update after The Hungering Deep and Cursed Sails, Forsaken Shores will give players the opportunity to head for The Devil's Roar. This is a brand new region of the map that has active volcanoes and superheated water around islands. The new rowboat, which comes with four seats and cargo space, will be very useful for navigating these new boiling waters.

Rare has also revealed previously that the update will bring a new voyage type for the Merchant Alliance named Cargo Runs. These will put players in charge of transporting various goods like cloth and bottles of rum to specific destinations without getting anything spoiled.

For pirates interested in all the new cosmetic items that the update will also bring along, the trailer has quite a few accessories and ship liveries on display as well, all with very magma-like styles.

The free content update is slated to come ashore on September 19 for all Sea of Thieves owners and Xbox Game Pass subscribers on the Xbox One family of consoles and Windows 10 PCs. And fittingly, the day also happens to be the International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
