Could Google be trying to pull off a complex hoax with the leaked Pixel 3 XL?

Every single time we post a Pixel 3 XL article, there are plenty of comments that eviscerate the design and the large screen notch. Over the past month, there have been plenty of leaks about the handset, leaving pretty much nothing to the imagination and very little in terms of surprises for the upcoming launch. But what if the Pixel 3 XL we have been seeing and hearing about this whole time was just part of some hoax?

The theory comes from YouTuber Front Page Tech (FPT), where host Jon Prosser, like many, has shared his disgust with the world regarding the design of the Pixel 3 XL. There are numerous videos on the channel about this topic, and it appears to have caught the attention of Google. According to Prosser, the company reached out, asking for permission to use footage from his videos. He goes on to explain that other YouTubers were also contacted with similar proposals.

While Prosser didn't give exact details about who was contacted or what clips Google was after, he did state that the clips it was gathering included footage where there were instances of hate against the Pixel 3 XL. The company is clearly trying to create a specific narrative, but the real question is why would Google create a montage of this kind? Prosser goes on to speculate that maybe the Pixel 3 XL that we have been seeing through leaks is all just a hoax.

Although Prosser states that he is not under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with Google regarding the event and the things talked about in the video, it is clear that there is more than meets the eye to the situation. For one, he mentions towards the end of the video, which starts at the eight minute and 15-second mark, there are things in the present that he can't talk about and says to expect more to happen next week, around the time of the Apple event.

While it is tough to say what exactly will happen, if Google really is able to pull off a hoax of this magnitude, it will probably go down as one of the most clever deceptions in tech history. For now, we will have to wait until the event, which is scheduled for October 9.

What are your thoughts about this situation? Will Google reveal a completely different design of the Pixel 3 XL? Leave a comment down below.
