Expected, good, but either MS doesn't have enough stock or more of America wanted a PS4 (PS4 only launched in USA/Canada vs One worldwide).

Well since MS was spread thinner than Sony, its certainly possible that it lead to some shortages in some regions. But MS and Sony both keep claiming they will keep up with demand, so we will see.

Been playing CoD: Ghosts for about an hour and just ran into my first issue.  The game crashed and showed the Ghosts wallpaper and gave me an error saying "Out of memory 27."  Then it went back to the home screen.  It happened while it was loading a level (either the 3rd or 4th level).  It's the level right after "Homecoming" for those that have been playing.  The father was telling the story about the main villain while they were on the helicopter and it showed Caracas, then crash.  Sucks because now it's making me redo the entire previous level from the beginning again.

Well Microsoft has no idea what happened to my Day One pre-order and why it never got processed. My friend who got a Day One was undecided if he was going to keep it so he gave it to me, and when I get mine I'll see if he wants it or sell it and give him the money.  This happened even though a rep Thursday assured me mine was coming.

Ok, here's another weird issue.  Was going through my recent activity and noticed I had 7 achievements unlocked for CoD: Ghosts.  The problem is that I never saw any of the achievement notifications pop up when they unlocked.  Anybody else have this happen?

Edit: This may be a bug (or they'll call it by design) of the Xbox One software.  Just found this: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-16750-Xbox-One-Achievements-Don-t-Unlock-While-Offline.html

I haven't noticed any achievement issues while playing KI, so maybe its also a game specific issue.

As far as the offline thing, that sounds like a bug, so hopefully that gets fixed soon. Now remember that there are those 'challenges' that have been added to the achievement section. Those work differently and rotate constantly, so I get why those would only work while you are online. The basic achievements should keep working while offline, so maybe it is a bug.

I am stuck with 3 things:

1) How do I eject a disc? (or is it that I am installing so it won't let me?)

2) Is there an "Active Downloads" section, similar to Xbox 360?

3) Do patches have to be downloaded/installed before actual installation can take place?

If you are installing a game from the disc, then no, you cant eject it until that is done.

As far as patches go, I'm not sure, KI installed first and then when I loaded the game, it pulled down updates.

1.) The only way I've found to eject a disc is to walk over to the system and touch the eject button.  It's touch sensitive, so you only need to just touch it.

2.) Go to my games and apps.  That's where it shows what's queued and what the progress of the currently downloading/installing item is.

3.) Yes.  If you're installing a game and there's a patch, you have to download the patch first.  Once the patch is downloaded, the game will start to install from the disc.

If you have the game/app show it's tile on your home screen don't you get a small progress bar at the bottom of the tile to show you where it's at?   If it's downloading updates for the game in question wouldn't it show the same thing again like it did when it was installed?  Or if the game/app is in your pins for example?

Pleased to say that my Xbox One wasn't a lemon. So glad I didn't take the day off because mine wasn't delivered until around 6.30pm yesterday!

It was like being a kid at Christmas when it arrived! Everything went smoothly for me, set up fine, installed the update and it was ready to go.

The FIFA 14 was downloadable so I used the 'Xbox, use a code' command and showed the QR Code to Kinect and it automatically started downloading. Whilst that was downloading I queued up SkyDrive, Skype, Upload Studio and what I found to be rather odd, the app that allows BluRay & DVD playback?

I purchased Forza 5 & Battlefield 4 (physical disc) and I started by playing some Battlefield 4. It's gorgeous, I didn't play it on the 360 and I must say the visuals are stunning! I have been a COD guy before so it took sometime getting used to controls ect. I am not a fan of how the MP is laid out and it's tough getting in to a game with friends. I did run in to one issue as did a lot of my friends and that would be we'd join a MP session and for some reason be kicked right out to the Xbox Home screen. Also, I do get annoyed with the 'friend session invites' that pop up on BF4 right in the middle of the screen at times, I can be in the middle of a game & it pops up!

Forza 5 is stunning! I've completed the 1st 5 races , after 3 races your 'Drivatar' has enough information to put out in to the world of racing which I think is really cool. I was in a party chat with some friends and one of them was playing Forza 5 at the time, my Drivatar was in one of his races and he was raging because it was driving aggressive and was winning most of the races! Haha.

During one Forza race I came in to some trouble with a few shunts, lost control and barrel rolled the car a few times. This was the perfect time to use the 'Xbox, Record That' command. Paused the game, entered Upload Studio, reviewed the clip, trimmed it and uploaded it to SkyDrive. Here it is for you guys.

nice video :)

about the bluray app, its similar to the 360, where you have to download a media update(codecs) to be able to play certain mediatypes. that's because Microsoft pays licensing fees for dvd/bluray/codecs, which is around $10 per player, and there will be many people who don't use this functionality.

Has anyone tried or knows of anyone who's actually imported one yet?   I'm wondering how it's going to work if you're connecting to XBL from a country outside of the launch list at this point?

Disappointed at the lack of flailing arms  :(

Yes it does. I think some people would just prefer a download center that only kept a list of downloads/patches/installs, etc. I need more time with it to decide if I'm ok with the current method. It works and I can definitely see the progress from the dash.

If you have several things queued up, you can see that list by going into the 'games and apps' tile

There was an article about this a while back, I'll see if I can dig it up.

I think the crux of it was that you can import just fine, but you will not be able to buy anything on XBL unless your using a credit card or gift card that is from that same country. So if you import from the UK, you need a UK credit card or gift card to buy stuff.

I believe you will be able to change that once your region gets an official release.

I think a Active Downloads or Download Center is low on the list of things because if you use it as designed it will just download things automatically in the background,  updates to games, apps, OS etc.  You shouldn't have to keep track of things past the initial install for them.

Ok, just ran through the setup process. Two questions

1 why is the xbox not sending the correct signal to my receiver when watching tv, instead of it showing Dolby 5.1 its showing multichannel

2 is there a way to watch tv without the xbox being on? I swore I read that it does simple pass through when off this does not appear to be the case for me.

Hopefully this is an easy fix that I am just missing.

Mutltichannel is pcm, better than Dolby digital as long as you're seeing all channels light up. I dont have TV so I can't comment on passthrough myself.

I guess I just liked seeing my Dolby lights show on the reciever. The tv not working without the xbox on is almost a deal breaker for me because my wife will hate that

    • I work for a video production company in Australia. The camera operators shoot footage and then pass the SD card over to the editors. Much easier than handing over the entire camera. Plus, on a busy day you can hand off the SD card and then pop another in for the next shoot. Or, you might need multiple SD cards because you need the extra space for a long shoot. I also use USB cables and wifi for transferring footage, but in many cases an SD card reader is the easiest method.

It keeps you safe online, protects your privacy, and lets you browse the web quickly. You can even use it on all your devices and keep your browsing history and favorites synced up. Built on the same technology as Chrome, Microsoft Edge has additional built-in features like Startup boost and Sleeping tabs, which boost your browsing experience with world class performance and speed that are optimized to work best with Windows. Microsoft Edge security and privacy features such as Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, Password Monitor, InPrivate search, and Kids Mode help keep you and your loved ones protected and secure online. Microsoft Edge has features to keep both you and your family protected. Enable content filters and access activity reports with your Microsoft Family Safety account and experience a kid-friendly web with Kids Mode. The new Microsoft Edge is now compatible with your favorite extensions, so it’s easy to personalize your browsing experience. Microsoft Edge 149.0.4022.52 changelog: Migration to improved V2 architecture for Workspaces. Workspaces, introduced in Edge in 2022, allows users to create durable sets of tabs that can be saved and shared with others. In order to improve reliability and performance of this feature, the following changes are being made: Migrating data for saved Workspaces from OneDrive/SharePoint to Edge Sync service Removing the collaboration/share functionality of this feature For organizations who have disabled Sync through policy, the existing v1 Workspace data will still be migrated to the new architecture. New v2 Workspaces created after migration won't sync across devices and will remain local to each device. This update occurs on a progressive rollout beginning in Edge Stable v145 and will continue rolling out in Edge v149. For more information, see Getting started with Microsoft Edge Workspaces. Feature Updates Passkey Sync for Enterprise Users. Microsoft Edge is introducing support for passkey synchronization for enterprise users, enabling secure, passwordless authentication across devices. Passkeys created in Edge can now be synced seamlessly, improving sign-in experience while maintaining strong security standards. Note: This is a controlled feature rollout. If you don't see this change, check back as we continue the rollout. Enterprise WebView2 runtime downgrade via DowngradeVersion policy. Administrators can temporarily roll back specific applications to a previous WebView2 Evergreen Runtime version (N-1 or N-2) using the new DowngradeVersion policy in msedgewebview2.admx. The Downgrade Version policy allows enterprises to mitigate critical regressions by specifying per-application exe-to-version mappings. The Edge Updater installs the target version side-by-side, and the WebView2 Loader redirects targeted apps accordingly. Downgrades auto-expire with each new WebView2 release: apps pinned to N-1 remain on the same version (now becoming N-2) and will auto-update in the next release, while apps pinned to N-2 will revert to the current Evergreen version. The policy applies only to enterprise-managed devices (domain-joined or MDM-enrolled). For more information, see Microsoft Edge WebView2 Policy Documentation | Microsoft Learn. Collections retirement. Collections has been removed in this update. Users can no longer access or use the feature. To keep saved content, users can export it, or move all pages to Favorites before updating to Microsoft Edge Stable 149. For more information, see Organize your ideas with Collections in Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Support. Modern, unified, and updated Look and Feel. Microsoft Edge has updated the Look and Feel to give customers a unified experience across all of Microsoft AI surfaces including Copilot and Bing. This changes multiple elements of the UX such as spacing, corners, fonts, default colors, etc. Clarify choices surrounding third-party cookie settings. Language under Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies are clarified to better describe the choices users have in managing third-party cookies. Custom primary password retirement. Users are no longer able to create a new custom primary password in Edge Settings edge://settings/autofill/passwords/settings. Any users who are still using a custom primary password will be automatically migrated to device authentication. Additionally, the PrimaryPasswordSetting policy will no longer support the WithCustomPrimaryPassword option. For more information, see Keep your saved passwords private in Microsoft Edge | Microsoft Support. Unifying Copilot Chat policy controls. The Microsoft365CopilotChatIconEnabled policy is the standard for configuring Copilot Chat. Previously, this behavior was controlled by blocking the Copilot extension, either explicitly or by using the * wildcard via the ExtensionSettings or ExtensionInstallBlockList policies. Extension and sidebar policies no longer affect the appearance or functionality of Copilot Chat. Copilot address bar suggestions were also tied to extension policy settings. Starting in Microsoft Edge version 149, admins can use the CopilotAddressBarSuggestionsEnabled policy to manage this behavior. Intune MAM Protected Downloads. The protected downloads feature for Intune MAM is now available for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) devices, which aren't managed by a tenant. • Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.2 by Razvan Serea Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC) is a free and open-source video and audio player for Windows. MPC-HC is based on the original Guliverkli project (which is no longer maintained) and contains many additional features and bug fixes. As the continuation of the original Media Player Classic, MPC-HC isn’t flashy but it works with nearly any media format. MPC-HC uses DXVA technology to pass decoding operations to your modern video card, enhancing your viewing experience. And MPC-HC supports both physical and software DVDs with menus, chapter navigation, and subtitles. Overview of features A lot of people seem to be unaware of some of the awesome features that have been added to MPC-HC in the past years. Here is a list of useful options and features that everyone should know about: Dark interface Menu > View > Dark Theme When using dark theme it is also possible to change the height of the seekbar and size of the toolbar buttons. Options > Advanced Video preview on the seekbar Options > Tweaks > Show preview on seek bar Adjust playback speed Menu > Play > Playback rate The buttons in the player that control playback rate take a 2x step by default. This can be customized to smaller values (like 10%): Options > Playback > Speed step Adjusting playback speed works best with the internal audio renderer. This also has automatic pitch correction. Options > Playback > Output > Audio Renderer MPC-HC can remember playback position, so you can resume from that point later Options > Player > History You can quickly seek through a video with Ctrl + Mouse Scrollwheel. You can jump to next/previous file in a folder by pressing PageUp/PageDown. You can perform automatic actions at end of file. For example to go to next file or close player. Options > Playback > After Playback (permanent setting) Menu > Play > After Playback (for current file only) A-B repeat - You can loop a segment of a video. Press [ and ] to set start and stop markers. You can rotate/flip/mirror/stretch/zoom the video Menu > View > Pan&Scan This is also easily done with hotkeys (see below). There are lots of keyboard hotkeys and mouse actions to control the player. They can be customized as well. Options > Player > Keys Tip: there is a search box above the table. You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites Put yt-dlp.exe or youtube-dl.exe in the MPC-HC installation folder. Then you can open website URLs in the player: Menu > File > Open File/URL You can even download those videos: Menu > File > Save a copy Tip: to be able to download in best quality with yt-dlp/youtube-dl, it is recommended to also put ffmpeg.exe in the MPC-HC folder. Several YDL configuration options are found here: Options > Advanced This includes an option to specify the location of the .exe in case you don't want to put it in MPC-HC folder. Play HDR video This requires using madVR or MPC Video Renderer. After installation these renderers can be selected here: Options > Playback > Output Ability to search for and download subtitles, either automatically or manually (press D): Options > Subtitles > Misc Besides all these (new) features, there have also been many bugfixes and internal improvements in the player in the past years that give better performance and stability. It also has updated internal codecs. Support was added for CUE sheets, WebVTT subtitles, etc. Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.2 changelog: Updated LAV Filters to version 0.81-23-g6fadb Updated MPC Video Renderer to version 0.10.2.2540 Updated MediaInfo DLL to version 26.05 Updated MPC Audio Renderer Several crash fixes, bug fixes and small improvements.
