OMG, I got a warning! Now what?

Because they do more for the community than the ones who are more lenient. Whilst we have power hungry mods (who are not as bad as on some boards), people will be more wary before breaking the rules.

As i already said, keep your nose clean, suck up whenever possible, play nice and plunk down the cash for a subscription and you will not run into issues on Neowin.

There, fixed.

Before the people get the wrong idea, buying a subscription does not buy you immunity. We've unfortunately had to ban a subscriber or two only to have them claim they had some imaginary immunity.

Yeah, our money's for the sole purpose of keeping Neobond's pint topped up ;)

:p

I was joking by the way. I know i dont have immunity. I have to pay you all weekly for that

RICH FOR Supervisor!!!! He really knows his stuff.

No, i just have common sense is all. I can still get peed off when people are knobbish on the forums though :D

If they were the same offence AND one was applied by mistake, then yes. This is not the case here.

Ah ok. I wasnt sure if that was the case or not. The guy made it sound like one was for the same offence by mistake, but only the mods would know if that was the case ;)

I cant wait to start my new job! I have been spending far to much time on Neowin lately!

yeh i know how u feel...i apprently made a ''irrelevent'' comment...and instantly the next day got a warning..saying: i've raised your level to 20%..blah blah blah..''

yeh/....i was just joking..anyway...its just a website..not a holy grail site or something.....so to the people who sit on their a*** all day and filter through comments-- pls lighten up and dont let the strains of the ''overbearing'' world come down to the innocent flaming of me...thx greatly appreciated (sarcastic tone)

 ---shame on u..haha

it still shows up on me even though it's 0%.

That is normal. It would be the same way even if you had never received a warning. Everybody can see their own warning bar whether they have 0% or 100%.

Too many people were PMing asking "What's my warning level?"

Really? I never noticed it before BOOG slapped it on me. So it only shows up to me in the forums, but not to anyone else?

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
