The Big Bang Theory @ Comic-Con Report

2le17vs.jpg

The cast of the show does hang out off the set. In fact, series

stars series stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon

Helberg and Kunal Nayyar rented a boat the day before an piloted

around the waters of San Diego.

They all receive complaints if they get something scientifically

wrong. However, they do have a consultant that fact checks some of the

stuff they mention. When the cast was asked if they feel any smarter

now than they did when the first season began, Simon, who plays

Wolowitz, said that they are just as dumb as they have always been.

The geekiest things about themselves: Kunal, who plays

Koothrappali, is an amateur badminton athlete, which is a cool sport

in India, he said, but not in the U.S. For Simon, "You can't tell by

looking at me?" Actually, Simon had a ducktail in the 80s that he

cutoff and kept. Kaley, who plays Penny, said she feels like she's a

total nerd all of the time. She is also awesome at ping-pong. For Jim,

Sheldon on BBT, the timbre of his voice is a bit geeky. Johnny, who

plays Leonard on the show, also had a ducktail. His geekiest moment

was that he was into theatre in elementary school in Chicago while all

of his friends were playing hockey. That, and he played the cello.

"Yes, I was a rock star," he quipped. Johnny also loved to collect

Star Wars and G.I.Joe figures.

What made Bill Brady geeky was the fact that he was a computer

programmer prior to his role as television show creator. Also the fact

that he didn't ask a girl out until he was 24-years-old. Chuck Lorre's

claim to geekiness was the countless hours he spent in his basement

building monster models. "Mostly for the glue," he added.

The characters on The Big Bang Theory are based on people that

Bill used to work with when he was a computer programmer.

There was a previous BBT pilot that was created for CBS. But,

according to Lorre "it sucked." The pilot was re-shot thanks to the

chemistry between Johnny and Jim and the blessings of CBS.

When describing the characters it was mentioned that Sheldon and

Leonard have like minds and, together, they create a genius. However,

when Penny comes along a caring begins to emerge in Leonard that

Sheldon gets defensive about. Kaley mentioned that Penny is genuinely

sweet and loves all of the guys, even though she plays with their

minds a bit. All she wants to do is help them in her own way.

Bill Prady said that the character Wolowitz came from someone he

previously worked with in the IT environment. Chuck Lorre added, "The

archetype for Simon's character is Pepe Le Pew.

What would they love to do with their characters: Kunal would

love to see his character talk to women without having to get drunk to

do it. For Simon, the answer was obvious. "He wants it so bad," he

added. Jim also said that he would want his character to speak to

women. Kaley said she would like Penny to become a green-skinned Orion

woman (as suggested by an audience member). Johnny was happy to see

where Leonard he is right now.

Sara Gilbert Confirmed as Regular

Question: I know you refuse to report on The Big Bang Theory even though it gets just as good as ratings as How I Met Your Mother, but many people like it and care about it. -- Scott

Ausiello: Whatchoo talkin' bout Willis? I worship BBT -- even more so now that Sara Gilbert is a full-fledged series regular! "I?m not sure if I?m going to be in every episode this year, but I?m going to be a regular," Gilbert confirmed to EW.com last Friday. "I had always been interested in doing another sitcom. I love the energy from the audience. It?s just a perfect situation." Refuse to report on Big Bang Theory? How very dare you.

Wow not long :D

Other than The Office, this is the only broadcast television show I have scheduled on my DVR (that is a current show). I love The Big Bang Theory, it's a shame pretty much all my friends and co-workers are stuck on stupid with Desperate Housewives or some reality show.

    • Still 3x what it should cost. So, it seems the trick is to increase price by 6x so that a reduction in price back to 4x looks like a steal. "You savvy shoppers win again!" I'm glad I'm not in a desperate spot to actually even need this overpriced crap. Hopefully, it comes back down by the time for when (or if) I ever do.
    • Although AI is great and has it's use cases they likely have massively overhyped it and it has not delivered as per their expectations. I fully expect them to start saying the same things again when it does get to a certain level of intelligence!
    • Microsoft wants to end printer driver headaches with Windows Ready Print by Usama Jawad A few days ago, Microsoft released Windows 11 Experimental build 26300.8553, bringing a ton of enhancements such as Start menu customization, search improvements, Taskbar polish, and other minor UI tweaks. Another relatively major enhancement snuck deep within the change log was related to upgrades to the Windows printing experience. Now, Microsoft has shared more details about these benefits. For starters, Microsoft has renamed its Modern Print Platform to Windows Ready Print. The company believes that this name highlights its shift in strategy, which now focuses on modernizing, securing, and streamlining the printing experience for Windows devices. Some of the upgrades present in Windows Ready Print have already been seeded to customers and partners. This includes ending support for third-party printer drivers via Windows Update and transitioning towards the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) and the native Windows IPP printer driver. In line with these changes, new printer installations will default to Windows Ready Print on eligible devices starting from July 2026. However, Microsoft recognizes that not all environments will be able to migrate to this platform immediately, so it will allow users to choose between installing the printer via Windows Ready Print or the traditional OEM process. Users will be able to toggle this configuration through Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners > Printer preferences. This control applies only to new printer installations, and its functionality can also be modified via Group Policy as follows: Launch Group Policy Editor Navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Administrative Templates -> Printers Find and select 'Configure Windows Ready Print driver ranking' -> double click to open it Select 'Enabled' (if you wish to enable Windows Ready Print driver selection) or 'Disabled' (if you wish to explicitly disable Windows Ready Print driver selection). Select Apply Select OK Similarly, if you set up Windows protected print mode through the same setting in Windows 11, it will also default to using Windows Ready Print exclusively. Microsoft hopes that these improvements will help eradicate dependency on OEM-specific driver installation processes and simplify printer installations. We'll likely find out more about other tangible benefits in the coming months.
