[Football] Summer Transfers 2008

Recommended Posts

The transfer saga of the summer shows no sign of abating, with Sir Alex Ferguson likely to be fuming at the news that his Portuguese prodigy is being tapped up by close friends.

United have already tried, and failed, to get Fifa to discipline Real over their incessant tracking of the winger, while the Spaniards show no sign of letting up in their pursuit of their No. 1 transfer target.

Argentinean defender Heinze struck up a close relationship with Ronaldo during his time at Old Trafford and admits that he is doing his best to persuade the 23-year-old to make a move to the Spanish capital.

Oh man!!! I hope they dont give Fergie a heartattack!!! lol :jump:

Man Utd should just take as much money as they can get for Ronaldo, and use it to buy one of many other talented players. Perhaps one who might show a bit of loyalty in future.

Yes Ronaldo is a great player, but he's not the best in the world so they can use the money to get a good replacement.

Luis Aragones is confirmed as the new manager at Fenerbahce...

Guiza of Spain have also signed for Fenerbahce

:(

darnn it..

Now it is time for Galatasaray to strengthen their squad.

Name change

If what you are saying is true, then I'm really surprised that Aragones has gone to Fenerbache seeing as he is 70 years old, and international management is what most older managers choose to do (as he has in the past).

Danny Guiza is class though, and going from Spain to Turkey is a step down for him in my opinion.

well fenerbahce loves to pay money like crazy. They already signed emre belozoglu from newcastle. and listen to this. Emre will be getting 3.5 million euros per year.

so i am sure guiza will be getting even mıore than Emre.. therefor anyone would love to sign for fenerbahce for money

They already have Lugano, Edu draneca, Roberto Carlos, Appiah, Kezman, Maldonado, Alex, Devid and now Guiza.

good job is you ask me

while my team Galatasaray (although we won the league last year) does not have classy foreigners. Lincoln and Nonda are the only two foreigners we have right now as Rigobert Song left Galatasaray to join Trabzonspor.

+1

i would personally want messi, moutinho, sneijder, pato, even ronaldinho in my team than Ronaldo.

Fenerbache is strengthening their already strong squad. They were very good in last year's Champions League and it is a shame they couldn't get all those balls in when they played at home against Chelsea.

Spain coach Luis Aragones has agreed a provisional two-year contract to take over at Turkish side Fenerbahce after the end of Euro 2008.

Aragones, who will be 70 in July, replaces Brazilian Zico, who left the club at the end of the season.

The Spaniard will also bring a four-man training team with him.

Aragones is currently preparing Spain for their Euro 2008 semi-final against Russia on Thursday, but Fenerbahce confirmed the deal on the club website.

Zico left Fenerbance on 10 June after failing to agree a new contract.

Aragones, who won 11 caps for Spain as a player, has been in charge of the national side since 2004, and has had previous spells as a manager with the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia and Mallorca.

oh well i am a galatasaray fan.. i was cheering for Chelsea that game. Though i admit fenerbahce was very good in CL but did nothing in the league nor the turkish cup.

Lets see whom will Galatasaray buy.

Stranzel for defence or Simic. They are also negotiating with zebina.

As a goalkeeper trying to get İsakson from Man City.

dissapointment transfer still but thanx god our turkish players are very good.

another year for galatasaray with turkish league glory and a european dissapointment.

Spain coach Luis Aragones has denied reports that he has signed a deal with Turkish club Fenerbahce.

Aragones says he was baffled by an announcement made on Wednesday by the Istanbul club saying it had entered a "preliminary contract" with him.

Fenerbahce are searching for a new manager following the departure of Zico and veteran coach Aragones has been strongly linked with the role as he will quit his job with Spain after Euro 2008.

Aragones has angrily rejected the suggestions insisting he has not signed a deal with any club.

"I don't understand it because Luis has not signed anything with anybody," Aragones told a news conference on the eve of his side's Euro 2008 semi-final against Russia in Vienna.

Asked if the news from Fenerbahce would affect his side ahead of the clash with Russia, Aragones said: "I don't think its going to affect the team at all."

"It is just another piece of news. Sometimes the news is true and sometimes it isn't."

Aragones went on to deny reports that he has received an offer from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to sign a new contract.

"No, there has been no offer of a renewal," noted Aragones. "The matter has all been talked about and sorted out before."

Barcelona could be ready to offer Russia star Andrei Arshavin his dream move to Camp Nou after Zenit St Petersburg confirmed the Spanish giants have made an approach for the attacker.

Arshavin is one of the most sought-after players in Europe after catching the eye at Euro 2008 with Russia.

The classy playmaker is expected to leave Zenit this summer and he has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all credited with an interest in his services.

Arshavin has admitted he would like to move to Spain with Barcelona being his dream destination and the Catalan titans have now made their first move to lure the 27-year-old to La Liga.

Zenit's sporting director Konstantin Sarsaniya says Barcelona have contacted them about a possible deal for Arshavin and that his future will be resolved once he returns from international duty.

"Barcelona has made a formal proposal to Zenit for the purchase of Arshavin," Sarsaniya told Sovietski Sport.

"We will only talk about this once Andrei returns to Zenit."

Yes.. I read that too.. also read Wenger said.. he loves Arshavin but the guy is 27 so Arsene is really not interested.. he is more interested in Roman Pavlychenko who according to Wenger has the ability to open defences and create space for his partners.. also read that Arsenal might chase the Reds to get Crouch if Adebayor decides to leave..

I cant see Barca challenging Madrid again this season, even if they get Arshavin.. although he, Messi and Henry would be one hell of a strike team.. but with Ronaldinho and Deco going their midfield is not that strong.. mm.. no Madrid will be too strong especially if they FINALLY get Ronaldo!

as i see it, Deco will be the hardest player to substitute, even if they get Hleb as they want, Ronaldinho did nothing last year and even they could have win the league and the champions.

i guess if they find a good forward to replace Eto'o and someone to try to take the place of Deco and the injuries respects them a little they can do something (me talking with the heart her).

Tottenham have agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven to sign goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, subject to personal terms, a medical and a work permit.

Gomes, 27, has played for Brazil and helped PSV to the Dutch title last season conceding only 24 league goals.

His arrival will alarm Paul Robinson who was dropped from the Spurs side last season by boss Juande Ramos.

Gomes made his name at Cruzeiro in Brazil before moving to PSV in 2004 where he has won four Dutch titles.

He will be a familiar face to Tottenham fans as he played a part in Spurs exiting the Uefa Cup last season, when he saved a Jermain Jenas penalty in a shootout PSV won 6-5 in the last 16 of the competition.

Wow Tottenham is going nuts. I wonder what the situation for England is like if Gomes takes the no.1 from Robinson? Inter will probably ask 50m Euro for Zlatan :p

as i see it, Deco will be the hardest player to substitute, even if they get Hleb as they want, Ronaldinho did nothing last year and even they could have win the league and the champions.

I don't think so, if Deco leaves Iniesta will probably move central next to Xavi pernamently. It would be like the national team setup

Henry - Adebayor / Bojan - Messi

-- Iniesta - Xavi --

------- Toure --------

Ps. Zhirkov to West Ham (X). Up the Hammers -_-

Deco is more complete defensively than Iniesta who plays better as a 10 free of engagement, an example of this is yesterday game, he created 2 of the Spanish goals playing in the middle and with Cesc in the wing.

but this is just my opinion, i like Deco very much as a player, he give Bar?a great games and now i wish for him the best wherever he goes,

DAVID O?Leary today urged Paul Robinson to sign for Martin O?Neill ? and insisted the ?5million-rated goalkeeper is not too late to become a Villa ?great?.
Adebayor, who scored 30 goals for the Gunners last season, has been heavily linked with a move to Italy, as well as La Liga giants Barcelona, this summer. Speaking to reporters just after midday he said: "I am an Arsenal player and have three years left on my contract. The most important thing for me is to keep on enjoying my football. I'm staying at Arsenal."

However, when interviewed again less than two hours later, his answers were less decisive. "I know a lot of clubs are interested in me. I'm going to sit down and discuss this with my people," he said. Asked whether this meant a move to Milan could still be on, he replied: "It will be decided next week."

it seems he is not ging to play at Emirate next season.. more likely at AC Milan not Barca IMO

A heart defect has prevented veteran French defender Lilian Thuram from signing for Paris St Germain.

The 36-year-old Barcelona defender had been expected to sign a one-year deal with the French First Division side.

He retired from international football after Euro 2008, and says that he has been diagnosed with a heart condition.

"I'm holding this press conference not to announce my signing for PSG but to tell you that doctors have detected a heart defect," said Thuram.

Thuram's brother died of a similar condition and the World Cup winner will undergo further tests and await results before deciding whether to retire from football.

"It seems that it's the same illness that my brother had a few years ago and from which he died on a basketball court," said Thuram.

"It's a total surprise, I didn't see it coming.

"In a month or so I should know whether I can pursue my career or if I have to stop."

Thuram began his career at Monaco in 1990 before moving to Italy in 1996 to play for Parma and Juventus.

He joined Spanish outfit Barcelona in 2006 but has struggled to hold down a regular place at the Nou Camp.

Thuram made 142 appearance for his country, winning the World Cup with them in 1998 and European Championship in 2000.

Seems Adebayor is headed to Milan for sure now.. in an interview to Sky he seemed pretty keen on the move.. so a chance for Arsenal to make some big money here.. they should ask for ?40m:pp

"I had a dream of playing for Arsenal, and Arsenal are one of the loveliest clubs in the world," he said.

"When I go back to Africa it is obvious that a lot of people love the club. But now I have a chance of playing with one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"I haven't had a chance to speak to the manager yet. But we will sit down next week and decide what is good for my career.

"We will have to meet with the manager before anything can be decided. But, as you know better than anyone, a lot of teams want me to play for them.

"It will not be a difficult decision. I'm just going to sit down with my agent and with my family and decide what is good for my career.

"If they're going to get 50million for me and they bought me for 10million, everyone is getting the benefits.

"They have to make a good decision and I have to make a good decision. I have asked Arsenal to look at it and see what they want.

"I have a promise from the manager Arsene Wenger that they will call me next week. I am waiting for their answer and next week I will decide.

"I need to know before I come back to train on 21st July. At the moment, I am in a position that I don't know where I will play."
