Battlefield Bad Company

Dunno why everyone is raving over this , sick of battlefield games where you might as well just throw the gun at them for more damage than what the bullets do.

Everything is oversized and chunky, the graphics arent all that great, i dont like matchmaking, the controls are way oversensitive, the interface is clunky, dont even get me started about respawning, i played for 30 mins today and all people do is camp at the spawns before youve even had chance to start moving you are dead again.

Waste of ?40.

-hugs-

Woo, I got all 50 at last :D The 50th was some noob waiting at the crate, I won't forget him <3 lol

Also unlocked the achievements for 100 online ranked matches and taking down 1000 trees :)

Gonna have dinner just now but I'll be back on soon.

Nice. Congrats!

Do those achievements with the walls and the trees count on either SP or MP, or do they have separate ones for each?

As I know I got the tree one in SP, and I am wondering if it is the same achievement overall?

And I will be on in about 20 minutes. Like I said before I definitely am going to play with habnad, so if two people are down to join us that is cool, and if there are more than 2 people I apologize in advanced, blame EA and DICE for only allowing 4 man squads.

They're separate ones for each achievement. I got the tree one in SP last night, and still working on the MP achievement. 1000 trees is alot!

EA really needs to fix this squad system. Having the squad split up is quite annoying.

Easiest way to get the 1000 trees is to play Oasis, and if you are on the defending team, there is an anti-helicopter/tank gun beside the river. You can use that to take out trees for quite a large area of the map. I was at 700 odd ( I have no idea how I got that many to begin with) so I used that gun for a couple of minutes for the remaining 300~ and unlocked it (Y)

I may not be able to get on this even munky, larry and habnad as my connection is a bit flakey, I will keep trying but I am having problems even connecting to live, its very flakey when I do connect :(

Wow that sux...

Thanks for the update/invite, but as of right now, I'm not going to be on tonight. Going with a friend and his 2 sons to see Monster trucks and Jet cars and such. If it gets rained out, then I should be on. If not, I'm definitely going to be on tomorrow night.

I will also definitely be on tomorrow night (Thursday), from 8-10 or 11 PM EST, so that is pretty damn late for you guys in the UK, but you all seem to be pretty big night owls anyway.

Remember tonight, I am going over my coworkers house for his birthday party, but we are going straight from work so I am going to be there early before any guests arrive. So I know he got Rock Band from his GF for his birthday so plans may have changed, but as of yesterday he did want me to play BF through his Gamertag to rank him up a bit quicker (and you just know I am going to choke and play horribly).

So if you guys get an invite from a massiveterra, that is me playing on my friends GT.

I really hate the splash damage! or lack of it I should say!

Really frustrating when you fire a grenade into someone's face and they walk away from it :/

Thanks for the tip on the tree achievement. I was always thinking that using any guns on the trees didn't count towards it. I am somewhere in the range of 500 trees, so halfway there.

I don't think I'd sit on a gun too long for two reasons...

1) I like the run and gun style of play better than being parked on a mounted gun

2) If there is a grenade thrown or shot anywhere within 50 ft of me on the map, the non-existant/lack of splash damage in the game WILL find a way to kill me.

But even though I have a couple small gripes with the game, it's still fun as heck to play. :)

Obviously I never got to play last night, my coworker did get Rock Band so we played that and I stayed at his house until 11PM which for me is a very, very long day, especially since I went to the office and did not work from home.

I also completely zoned out about tonight, I forgot we are throwing a party on Saturday and that meant I may need to help actually do things around the house (well technically I did not forget, I was just hoping I did not have anything to do  ) so tonight is up in the air, I know I need to go food shopping and stuff like that, but I should be done by 8 so see no reason I will not be playing like I said 8-10 PM. Also I am working from home, it is a bit slow, so I may wind up signing on during the afternoon as well.

/me slaps popisdead uk with a wet trout.

I meant my gamertag :) . Rank 18 only 7 to go.

What is it????

I know I was not playing last night, but like two nights ago when we all played someone had a really funny GT about a women's privates that I am forgetting the exact name now, but it was cleverly done and had the name GINA in it.

.Kick and I won't be around over the weekend guys, sorry. We're off to T In The Park (music festival for those that have never heard of it).

I probably won't be on Live until the middle of next week sometime, but I plan to reach Rank 25 by the end of it.

@ MillionVoltss, what's your tag dude :p

    • As I've been usually saying lately - we all can thank "AI" for this.
    • Friday Windows 11 preview builds are here. Insiders in the Experimental (formerly Dev) and Beta Channel can download builds 26300.8697 and 26220.8690. My Windows11 device on the Preview Channel just got 26220.8728. My guess is this build is a nightly update from 26220.8690.
    • Traffic has a surprisingly unexpected impact on your surroundings by Sayan Sen Image by Radik 2707 via Pexels A collaborative study by researchers from several Israeli institutions found that everyday pollution from traffic and industrial activity measurably changed the atmospheric electric field over the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, providing new evidence of how human activity can influence the lower atmosphere. The research was led by Dr. Roy Yaniv of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Gertner Institute at Sheba Medical Center, Dr. Assaf Hochman of the Fredy & Nadine Herrmann Institute of Earth Sciences at the Hebrew University, and Prof. Yoav Yair of Reichman University. The study also involved Itay Froomer, a student from Hadera High School and the Israeli Museum of Medicine and Science (Technoda), who carried out the work as part of the Ministry of Education's 5-unit physics research track. The researchers focused on the atmospheric electric field under fair-weather conditions. Even in the absence of storms, a weak electric field naturally exists between Earth's surface and the atmosphere. One of the main ways scientists measure this field is through the Potential Gradient (PG), which is the inverse of the vertical component of the electric field. PG is a key part of the global electric circuit, a planet-wide system of electrical currents maintained by thunderstorms and electrified clouds around the world. Scientists have long known that the atmospheric electric field can be influenced by factors ranging from large-scale atmospheric processes to local weather conditions such as dust, fog and clouds. Human-made pollution is also known to play a role, but understanding exactly how urban emissions affect the electric field close to the ground has remained an area of ongoing research. To investigate this relationship, the team analyzed measurements from a newly installed electric field mill, an instrument used to continuously monitor the strength of the atmospheric electric field. The instrument was installed at the Center for Technological Education (Roter House) in Holon and became operational in August 2024. It was funded by Israel's Ministry of Education and the Holon municipality. The electric field mill forms part of a broader monitoring network that includes nearby meteorological stations and air-quality monitoring sites. This allowed researchers to compare electric field measurements with detailed weather data and pollution records to better understand what was driving changes in the Potential Gradient. The study focused on two major urban pollutants: fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), both commonly produced by vehicle traffic and industrial activity. PM2.5 refers to microscopic airborne particles small enough to remain suspended in the atmosphere for extended periods, while NOx is a group of gases released during fuel combustion. Researchers examined daily, weekly and seasonal patterns in the atmospheric electric field and compared them with changes in pollutant concentrations. Their analysis revealed a clear relationship between NOx levels and changes in the Potential Gradient, particularly during morning and evening rush hours when traffic emissions were at their highest. “What we observe is a direct physical link between emission peaks and electrical variability,” explained Dr. Roy Yaniv. “NOx reduces atmospheric conductivity very quickly, so the electric field responds almost instantaneously during traffic rush hours.” Atmospheric conductivity describes how easily electrical charges move through the air. According to the researchers, nitrogen oxides rapidly alter this conductivity, causing a near-immediate response in the electric field. PM2.5, however, was associated with a delayed response. The researchers attributed this difference to the particles' longer atmospheric residence time, meaning they remain in the atmosphere for longer periods, as well as their different microphysical interactions with surrounding air and atmospheric components. The study also identified a pronounced "weekend effect." In Israel, traffic volumes and some industrial activity decline significantly on Fridays and Saturdays. During these periods, concentrations of both NOx and PM2.5 dropped, and corresponding changes were observed in the atmospheric electric field. “The weekend signal demonstrates just how sensitive the electric field is to changes in human activity,” the researchers noted. “When emissions decline, the electrical environment adjusts at once, providing a high-resolution indicator of urban atmospheric conditions.” The findings showed that pollution levels can influence not only the chemical composition of the atmosphere but also its electrical properties. Researchers said the results strengthened the case for using atmospheric electricity as an additional tool for environmental monitoring, particularly in densely populated urban areas where anthropogenic, or human-caused, influences are most pronounced. The study also pointed to potential public health applications. By combining air-quality measurements with observations of atmospheric electricity, researchers said they could gain a more complete picture of how urban atmospheric conditions change over time. “Integrating air-quality data with electric-field measurements gives us a clearer picture of how the lower atmosphere evolves moment by moment,” the researchers added. “It’s a framework that can support both scientific insight and practical environmental decision-making.” Beyond the scientific findings, the project highlighted a collaboration between universities, public institutions and secondary education. Researchers said the work demonstrated how students could take part in real-world environmental research while contributing to studies of air quality, atmospheric processes and their potential effects on society. • We aren't even at the all-star game and Microsoft is talking about an update that will most likely be released during the World Series if not after. A lot can happen in the world between now and the 2026 World Series, including the 2026 FIFA Cup. Tell me about it again after the FIFA Cup is concluded. That should allow plenty of time to prepare for it.
    • Great, tell me when I have a "Bad Pool Caller" elsewhere not in Windoze.
