Power BI Premium per user license offers enhanced deployment pipelines creation

Earlier this week, Microsoft introduced Information Protection sensitivity labels for Power BI Desktop, while a few days before that the data visualization service received new Admin APIs and Service Principal authentication. Going back a bit further, at its Ignite event in September, Microsoft unveiled the new Premium per user (PPU) capability as an entry point to Power BI Premium. This was further detailed by Power BI CVP Arun Ulag in our briefing regarding Power Platform announcements with him.

Today, the tech giant has detailed how Premium per user - the public preview of which only recently rolled out to all public tenants - can be utilized to experience enhanced deployment pipeline creations by BI creators for end users.

More specifically, after obtaining a PPU license, its workspace can be assigned to the PPU-reserved capacity. After the pipeline creation process having been carried out as mentioned here, users can then assign that workspace to the pipeline. When deploying content across 'Development' and 'Test' stages, new workspaces are automatically created; the capacity of these can be changed depending on whether the user has access to other Premium capacities or not.

Premium per user also allows higher quality updates to be delivered to users more efficiently, and offers more affordability. Some other advantages provided through the capability can be read about here.
