Xray mod/texture pack/world downloader are all undetectable by every server, there's a guarantee that any public server you go on that there will be at least one user using any of these options.

As long as ores are left for others it harms no one, we have a gold farm in the nether, an iron farm in the desert, as soon as someone cba we'll probably have an emerald farm using villagers that can be used to get diamond tools/armour, a redstone/Glowstone farm using witches.... all these require less effort than mining :p who cares if a neighbour has a bigger collection of x ore. you make your own adventure in Minecraft. :)

When the world expands enough we'll all probably make some new homes in our own areas where we can do what we want without annoying others :p

Yes well, none of that explains attempts to hide what's been going on. That would also include inciting one member to anger when he knew something was going on (not that his actions should be excused). It does also not excuse flying. It's frustrating having people ignore movement mechanics when you're entire "base" is built on the idea of limiting access.

Again its kind of a whatever, it really doesn't mean a lot and will hopefully be a limited thing (world expands), but I don't think excuses should be made for it :)

I know I originally said no further action would be taken. However after reading some of the posts following mine I realise that going with the flow is not an option.

The reason why I first said I wouldn't interfere is that a) with Xray being a client-side mod there is nothing I can do to stop you from using it, b) I didn't want to ban a large part of the player base and c) it didn't seem to cause any harm. Obviously I was wrong.

The main reason why the server is on survival mode is because the majority voted for it. Those of you using the Xray mod included. Yet you gather resources in record speed and fly around just as though this were a creative server? This doesn't add up, folks. Also the commotion about Nuculi was caused by him being upset over what he (rightly so) considered cheating? Some of you have some explaining to do.

From now on the Neowin MC server is a no-fly zone. The only exception are ops wanting to get an overview of what's been built. Want to build high up? Use scaffolding.

Flying without permission will result in increasingly long temp bans followed by a permanent ban for repeat offenders.

There is no way to prevent you from using Xray. However, what is illegal from now on is mining under other people's areas. Stick to your own areas or mine in the outer regions of the map after walking there. Stop annoying fellow players.

I posted my minecraft username. It's kamranthemack. And it's good that you're making those rules, it makes the server more fun for other players.

I'm at work right now, thus unable to whitelist you - hopefully one of the other ops sees this and adds you, otherwise I'll do it when I get home.

Flight is now disabled, It was a leftover setting from the last mixed world, the skies have become quite busy now everyone keeps bringing up xray and all its features every 5 mins -_-

quickest way to read about nuculi is to read the log, it'll show he had a foul mouth on him that night no mater what was said and despite the way he spoke to me the only reason I removed him from the whitelist was when he started burning down other peoples property.

Fair enough. I don't agree, but I will abide.

Can I make a couple of requests/suggestions however:

  1. Everyone who is unhappy with the use of XRay seems to mention the small area of the current server, and the slight overcrowding/heavy competition for resources. Can I request that the server expansion rate is increased from 10 a week to 10 a day? It can be done automatically so no need to for constant updating.
  2. Can a 'Travel Agents' (like last server had) be set up to take players to/from spawn area to major locations like Farms, certain Biomes (Mesa being a prime one), The End Portal etc. Consideration should also be given to allowing players to request a 'To Spawn' command block be placed in their base by the Mods. I have been using Flying simply because without /home and /warp long distance movement between common locations is just boring. Given that /home and /warp were staple parts of the last two servers this really shouldn't be controversial.

I would like to note that without any form of mapping it's very hard to know if you are encroaching onto another players area. If/when such an encroachment occurs, players need to remain calm and civil. The 'incident' would have been avoided if someone hadn't become abusive towards other players, even if they were annoyed.

1. We can increase the map expansion rate. The exact number is yet to be determined.

2. I have no issues with 'travel agents' to be set up. There's enough room near spawn for such a setup.

3. As for the incident with Nuculi: I am going to go through the logs and make up my own mind about what happened. I know he's not the only one to be held accountable for it; his neighour on top of the mountain has done his share of complaining also, as seems to be his habit.

In terms of mapping, I mentioned before, but it probably got missed, that there is this http://overviewer.org/. It's not a real-time mapping solution like the previous server had, however if it were generated once a day, it would probably give a pretty good view of the map.

Here is an example rendering: http://aquaria.za.net/mc

If people are interested, I'm prepared to run the tool and host the map. I would just need access to downloadable backups of the world every time we want to regenerate the map.

I posted my minecraft username. It's kamranthemack. And it's good that you're making those rules, it makes the server more fun for other players.

I've been told that you were going through my house as well as that of FusionOpz and rummaging around. Care to explain what the .... you were doing?

While your in support of these rules I would advise that you do not take from other member without prior consent.  I've witnessed someone stealing my armour stand with my gold helm and iron body, leg and boots which coincidentally matched the set you were wearing when i logged in.

I then proceeded to watch you (admittedly using Xray, has legitimate uses too, especially when someone is acting suspicious) enter Mephistopheles (fpbecker) , which also had an armour stand setup with armour on it go missing.

I did explain the rules to Kamranthemack this morning - don't grief, don't steal, be nice, and no ###### and balls. Thinking about it now, I did notice he was wearing gold armour which is odd when someone has only just got access to the server.

in regards to the x-ray/flying. bukkit had plugins to detect/block those types of mods so hopefully once Sponge Server comes out it will have that functionality as well

Can I just point out that Flying is actually fully supported by a Vanilla server, and as such anyone who was flying (myself included) was doing so because the server specifically allowed it. There was no cheating, no gaming the system, nothing underhand about it.

I'm intrigued to know how a server side system can detect a client side only mod. Not saying it can't, just intrigued to know how.

I only changed myself to Creative to move myself around my build, basically going between one roof to another without...well...dying. Don't need it for the build anymore so I'm done with that.

It's finished now though save for the interior, looking at the conversation here I doubt there's much left in my chests...

Just in case, and to reiterate my core issue, the beef is with those who are using flight to be obnoxious and invasive. It wouldn't be such a big deal if I could lock stuff, but I had to sign the heck out of my build even though there's only one way up, because people were not using "the front door". Just landing where ever they wanted and going through my stuff. It's also a little insulting, given the effort I've put into designing it to have one access point. The topic of misdirection and the misleading attitude of several people and the way they tried to protect themselves, and others, from discovery is secondary. Now I just know who not to trust.

With that said, I still don't understand why people even wanted survival if they're going to fly and easy-mine. At least with creative no one has to worry about thefts (I personally would not do creative, but not everyone is going to always be happy, either).

i could have sword there was a switch on the Server config file that would prevent fly without creative mode and auto kick anyone that was flying.

did a quick look and its still in there.

allow-flight= false

Yes, that is it. It was set to True for the last server, and didn't get changed for this server. Point?

Having XRay doesn't make gathering most resources any different. It makes getting stuff like Diamonds easier sure, but you still have to grind to get stone, diorite, granite, sand etc which is what makes up most of any build.

At this point however there is no point in continuing this discussion. Despite their being a majority of players who are OK with XRay it has been banned.

It now looks like the same product, not a separate dashboard. Pairing is one tap and zero typing: the generated WebUI password is now copyable, and the QR code carries the credentials — scanning it from your phone logs straight in (no typing the IP or password), then drops the credentials from the address bar. Search Two new providers: RuTor (CIS sources, no login, via a public TorAPI relay) and Torrents-CSV. Results are sorted by seeders (healthiest first), and each search now times out after 15 s so one dead provider can't hang the UI. Files & trackers Per-file priority is back: right-click a file in the detail panel to set Skip / Low / Normal / High. Rename an individual file inside a torrent (double-click or the file menu), separate from renaming the torrent. Remove a tracker from a torrent (the ✕ on a tracker row); adding was already there. Smart Paste on Ctrl+V — paste a magnet, a 40-char info-hash, or a .torrent URL straight from the clipboard and it's added immediately (text fields still paste text normally). Covers & titles Anime fansub naming ([Group] Title - NN) now resolves to the right show. Audio channel layouts in titles (DDP5.1, 7.1, …) are stripped so they don't pollute cover matching. Under the hood The legacy QWidget interface is gone. QML had been the only UI since 3.0.0 (reachable old code lived behind a hidden --legacy flag); with parity confirmed, the entire QWidget layer — main window, every dialog, the theme manager — was removed (~13,400 lines). The four restored actions above were features that backend already supported but the QML port had never wired. macOS: the WebUI password hash moved out of the keychain into app settings, so launching the app no longer pops a login-keychain password prompt on unsigned builds. The actual password still lives in the keychain. Cleanup: ~400 orphaned translation strings and a batch of dead code removed; internal duplication collapsed; an ARCHITECTURE.md added for contributors. Unit / security / memory tests and the ASan/UBSan/TSan sanitizers stay green. • This doesn't strike me as so shocking when... " IT admins do have some control over this rollout. If they choose to opt out, devices in their tenant won't automatically get the dreaded Copilot app"
